Então o povo da terra tomou Jehoahaz, filho de Josias, e o fez rei no lugar de seu pai em Jerusalém.

Joaquim tinha vinte e três anos de idade quando começou a reinar; e reinou três meses em Jerusalém.

O rei do Egito o retirou do cargo em Jerusalém, e multou a terra em cem talentos de prata e um talento de ouro.

O rei do Egito fez de Eliakim seu irmão rei sobre Judá e Jerusalém, e mudou seu nome para Jehoiakim. Neco levou Joaaz, seu irmão, e o levou para o Egito.

Jehoiakim tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. Ele fez o que era mau aos olhos de Iavé, seu Deus.

Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, enfrentou-o e o amarrou em grilhões para levá-lo à Babilônia.
- 7
Nabucodonosor também levou alguns dos vasos da casa de Iavé para Babilônia, e os colocou em seu templo na Babilônia.

Agora o resto dos atos de Jeoiaquim, e suas abominações que ele fez, e o que foi encontrado nele, eis que estão escritos no livro dos reis de Israel e Judá; e Jeoiaquim, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

Jehoiachin tinha oito anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou três meses e dez dias em Jerusalém. Ele fez o que era mau aos olhos de Iavé.

No retorno do ano, o rei Nabucodonosor o enviou e o trouxe à Babilônia, com os valiosos vasos da casa de Iavé, e fez de Zedequias seu irmão rei sobre Judá e Jerusalém.

Zedequias tinha vinte e um anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém.

Ele fez o que era mau aos olhos de Iavé seu Deus. Ele não se humilhou diante de Jeremias, o profeta, falando da boca de Iavé.
- 13
Ele também se rebelou contra o rei Nabucodonosor, que o tinha feito jurar por Deus; mas endureceu seu pescoço, e endureceu seu coração contra voltar-se para Iavé, o Deus de Israel.

Além disso, todos os chefes dos sacerdotes e do povo transgrediram muito depois de todas as abominações das nações; e poluíram a casa de Iavé, que ele havia santificado em Jerusalém.

Yahweh, o Deus de seus pais, enviado a eles por seus mensageiros, levantando-se cedo e enviando, porque tinha compaixão de seu povo e de sua morada;
- 16
mas eles zombavam dos mensageiros de Deus, desprezavam suas palavras e zombavam de seus profetas, até que a ira de Yahweh surgiu contra seu povo, até que não houve remédio.

Therefore ele trouxe sobre eles o rei dos caldeus, que matou seus jovens com a espada na casa de seu santuário, e não teve compaixão do jovem ou virgem, velho ou enfermo. Ele os entregou a todos em suas mãos.

Todos os vasos da casa de Deus, grandes e pequenos, e os tesouros da casa de Javé, e os tesouros do rei e de seus príncipes, tudo isso ele trouxe para a Babilônia.

Eles queimaram a casa de Deus, derrubaram o muro de Jerusalém, queimaram todos os seus palácios com fogo, e destruíram todos os seus valiosos vasos.
- 20
Ele levou aqueles que haviam escapado da espada para Babilônia, e eles foram servos para ele e seus filhos até o reinado do reino da Pérsia,
- 21
para cumprir a palavra de Javé pela boca de Jeremias, até que a terra tivesse desfrutado de seus sábados. Desde que se desolou, ela guardou o sábado, para cumprir setenta anos.

Agora no primeiro ano de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, para que a palavra de Javé pela boca de Jeremias pudesse ser cumprida, Javé despertou o espírito de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, para que ele fizesse uma proclamação por todo o seu reino, e a colocasse também por escrito, dizendo:

“ Ciro, rei da Pérsia, diz: “Javé, o Deus do céu, deu-me todos os reinos da terra; e me ordenou que lhe construísse uma casa em Jerusalém, que é em Judá”. Quem quer que haja entre vós de todo seu povo, Javé, seu Deus, esteja com ele, e o deixe subir”.

Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s place in Jerusalem.

Joahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

The king of Egypt removed him from office at Jerusalem, and fined the land one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
- 4
The king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. Neco took Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.

Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. He did that which was evil in the LORD his God’s sight.

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him, and bound him in fetters to carry him to Babylon.
- 7
Nebuchadnezzar also carried some of the vessels of the LORD’s house to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
- 8
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem. He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight.

At the return of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon, with the valuable vessels of the LORD’s house, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
- 12
He did that which was evil in the LORD his God’s sight. He didn’t humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the LORD’s mouth.
- 13
He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God; but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning to the LORD, the God of Israel.
- 14
Moreover all the chiefs of the priests and the people trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted the LORD’s house which he had made holy in Jerusalem.
- 15
The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place;
- 16
but they mocked the messengers of God, despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the LORD’s wrath arose against his people, until there was no remedy.
- 17
Therefore he brought on them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or infirm. He gave them all into his hand.
- 18
All the vessels of God’s house, great and small, and the treasures of the LORD’s house, and the treasures of the king and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon.
- 19
They burned God’s house, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all of its valuable vessels.
- 20
He carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Babylon, and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia,
- 21
to fulfill the LORD’s word by Jeremiah’s mouth, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths. As long as it lay desolate, it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the LORD’s word by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
- 23
“Cyrus king of Persia says, ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given all the kingdoms of the earth to me; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all his people, the LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.’”
