No décimo sétimo ano de Peca, filho de Remalias, Acaz, filho de Jotão, rei de Judá, começou a reinar.
- 2
Acaz tinha vinte anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. Ele não fez o que era reto aos olhos do SENHOR, seu Deus, como Davi, seu pai.

Mas ele andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, e até mesmo fez seu filho passar pelo fogo, de acordo com as abominações das nações que o SENHOR expulsou de diante dos filhos de Israel.

Ele sacrificou e queimou incenso nos altos, nas colinas e debaixo de toda árvore verde.
- 5
Então Rezim, rei da Síria, e Peca, filho de Remalias, rei de Israel, subiram a Jerusalém para fazer guerra. Eles cercaram Acaz, mas não conseguiram vencê-lo.

Naquele tempo, Rezim, rei da Síria, recuperou Elate para a Síria, e expulsou os judeus de Elate; e os sírios vieram para Elate, e habitam lá até o dia de hoje.

Então Acaz enviou mensageiros a Tiglate-Pileser, rei da Assíria, dizendo: “Eu sou seu servo e seu filho. Suba e salve-me da mão do rei da Síria e da mão do rei de Israel, que se levantam contra mim.”

Acaz tomou a prata e o ouro que se achavam na casa do SENHOR e nos tesouros da casa do rei, e os enviou como presente ao rei da Assíria.

O rei da Assíria o ouviu; e o rei da Assíria subiu contra Damasco e a tomou, e levou seu povo cativo para Quir, e matou Rezim.
- 10
O rei Acaz foi a Damasco para se encontrar com Tiglate-Pileser, rei da Assíria, e viu o altar que estava em Damasco; e o rei Acaz enviou ao sacerdote Urias um desenho do altar e os planos para construí-lo.

O sacerdote Urias construiu um altar. De acordo com tudo o que o rei Acaz havia enviado de Damasco, assim o sacerdote Urias o fez para a chegada do rei Acaz de Damasco.
- 12
Quando o rei chegou de Damasco, o rei viu o altar; e o rei se aproximou do altar e ofereceu sacrifícios sobre ele.
- 13
Ele queimou o seu holocausto e a sua oferta de cereais, derramou a sua oferta de bebida e aspergiu o sangue das suas ofertas pacíficas sobre o altar.
- 14
O altar de bronze, que estava perante o SENHOR, ele trouxe da frente da casa, de entre o seu altar e a casa do SENHOR, e o colocou no lado norte do seu altar.
- 15
O rei Acaz ordenou ao sacerdote Urias, dizendo: “No grande altar, queime o holocausto da manhã, a oferta de cereais da tarde, o holocausto do rei e a sua oferta de cereais, com o holocausto de todo o povo da terra, a sua oferta de cereais e as suas ofertas de bebida; e asperja sobre ele todo o sangue do holocausto e todo o sangue do sacrifício; mas o altar de bronze será para eu buscar orientação.”

O sacerdote Urias fez assim, de acordo com tudo o que o rei Acaz ordenou.

O rei Acaz cortou os painéis das bases, e removeu a pia de cima delas, e tirou o mar de cima dos bois de bronze que estavam debaixo dele, e o colocou sobre um pavimento de pedra.

Ele removeu a passagem coberta para o sábado que haviam construído na casa, e a entrada externa do rei para a casa do SENHOR, por causa do rei da Assíria.

Ora, o restante dos atos de Acaz que ele fez, não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá?
- 20
Acaz dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado com seus pais na Cidade de Davi; e Ezequias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t do that which was right in the LORD his God’s eyes, like David his father.

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

He sacrificed and burned incense in the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.
- 5
Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war. They besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and lived there to this day.

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.”

Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the LORD’s house, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
- 9
The king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.
- 10
King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest a drawing of the altar and plans to build it.

Urijah the priest built an altar. According to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of King Ahaz from Damascus.

When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar; and the king came near to the altar, and offered on it.
- 13
He burned his burnt offering and his meal offering, poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on the altar.

The bronze altar, which was before the LORD, he brought from the front of the house, from between his altar and the LORD’s house, and put it on the north side of his altar.
- 15
King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, “On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, the evening meal offering, the king’s burnt offering and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar will be for me to inquire by.”

Urijah the priest did so, according to all that King Ahaz commanded.

King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

He removed the covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s outer entrance to the LORD’s house, because of the king of Assyria.

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
- 20
Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
