Agora, irmãos, quanto à vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e à nossa reunião com ele, nós lhes pedimos

que não sejam rapidamente abalados em sua mente nem perturbados, quer por espírito, quer por palavra, quer por carta como se fosse nossa, dizendo que o dia de Cristo já chegou.
- 3
Ninguém os engane de maneira alguma. Pois isso não acontecerá sem que antes venha a rebelião , e o homem do pecado seja revelado, o filho da perdição.

Ele se opõe e se exalta contra tudo o que se chama Deus ou que é objeto de adoração, de modo que se assenta como Deus no templo de Deus, apresentando-se como Deus.

Vocês não se lembram de que, quando eu ainda estava com vocês, eu lhes dizia essas coisas?
- 6
E agora vocês sabem o que o está detendo, para que ele seja revelado no seu devido tempo.
- 7
Pois o mistério da iniquidade já está operando. Apenas há aquele que agora o detém, até que seja tirado do caminho.
- 8
Então será revelado o iníquo, a quem o Senhor matará com o sopro de sua boca e destruirá pela manifestação da sua vinda;
- 9
aquele cuja vinda é segundo a operação de Satanás, com todo poder, sinais e maravilhas mentirosas,
- 10
e com todo engano da maldade para os que estão se perdendo, porque não receberam o amor da verdade para que pudessem ser salvos.
- 11
Por causa disso, Deus lhes envia uma poderosa ilusão, para que creiam na mentira,
- 12
a fim de que sejam julgados todos os que não creram na verdade, mas tiveram prazer na injustiça.
- 13
Mas nós devemos sempre dar graças a Deus por vocês, irmãos amados pelo Senhor, porque Deus os escolheu desde o princípio para a salvação, pela santificação do Espírito e fé na verdade,
- 14
para a qual ele os chamou por meio das nossas Boas Novas, para a obtenção da glória de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
- 15
Assim, pois, irmãos, permaneçam firmes e retenham as tradições que lhes foram ensinadas por nós, quer por palavra, quer por carta.
- 16
Que o nosso próprio Senhor Jesus Cristo, e Deus, nosso Pai, que nos amou e nos deu eterno consolo e boa esperança pela graça,
- 17
consolem os seus corações e os firmem em toda boa obra e palavra.

Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we ask you
- 2
not to be quickly shaken in your mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter as if from us, saying that the day of Christ has already come.
- 3
Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction.

He opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
- 5
Don’t you remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
- 6
Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.
- 7
For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.
- 8
Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
- 9
even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
- 10
and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Because of this, God sends them a powerful delusion, that they should believe a lie,
- 12
that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
- 13
But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth,
- 14
to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word or by letter.
- 16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
- 17
comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
