Você não sacrificará a Javé seu Deus um boi ou uma ovelha em que haja um defeito ou qualquer mal; pois isso é uma abominação a Javé seu Deus.
- 2
Se for encontrado entre vocês, dentro de qualquer de seus portões que Yahweh seu Deus lhes dá, um homem ou mulher que faz o que é mau aos olhos de Yahweh seu Deus ao transgredir seu pacto,
- 3
e foi e serviu a outros deuses e os adorou, ou ao sol, ou à lua, ou a qualquer uma das estrelas do céu, o que eu não mandei,
- 4
e vos for dito, e tiverdes ouvido falar disso, então, inquirireis diligentemente. Eis que, se for verdade, e a coisa certa, que tal abominação é feita em Israel,
- 5
então trareis à tona aquele homem ou aquela mulher que fez esta coisa má a vossos portões, mesmo aquele mesmo homem ou mulher; e os apedrejareis até a morte.

Na boca de duas testemunhas, ou de três testemunhas, será morto aquele que tiver de morrer. Na boca de uma testemunha, ele não será morto.

As mãos das testemunhas serão as primeiras sobre ele para matá-lo, e depois as mãos de todo o povo. Assim, tirareis o mal do meio de vós.

Se surgir um assunto muito difícil para você no julgamento, entre sangue e sangue, entre pleito e súplica, e entre AVC e AVC, sendo assunto de controvérsia dentro de seus portões, então você se levantará, e subirá para o lugar que Yahweh seu Deus escolher.

Você virá aos sacerdotes que são levitas e ao juiz que estará naqueles dias. Inquirireis, e eles vos darão o veredicto.

Você fará de acordo com as decisões do veredicto que eles lhe darão do lugar que Yahweh escolher. Observareis o que devem fazer, de acordo com tudo o que eles vos ensinarem.

De acordo com as decisões da lei que eles lhe ensinarão, e de acordo com o julgamento que eles lhe dirão, você fará. Você não se afastará da sentença que eles lhe anunciarão, nem para a direita, nem para a esquerda.

O homem que faz presunçosamente em não ouvir o sacerdote que ali está para ministrar diante de Javé vosso Deus, ou ao juiz, até mesmo esse homem morrerá. Afastará o mal de Israel.
- 13
Todo o povo ouvirá e temerá, e não fará mais presunçosamente.
- 14
Quando tiverdes chegado à terra que Javé vosso Deus vos dá, e a possuirdes e habitardes nela, e disserdes: “Eu porei um rei sobre mim, como todas as nações que estão ao meu redor”,
- 15
certamente colocareis aquele que Javé vosso Deus escolher como rei sobre vós mesmos. Colocareis como rei sobre vós um dentre vossos irmãos. Não podeis colocar um estrangeiro sobre vós, que não é vosso irmão”.
- 16
Somente ele não multiplicará cavalos para si mesmo, nem fará com que o povo volte ao Egito, a fim de poder multiplicar cavalos; porque Javé vos disse: “Não voltarás por esse caminho”.
- 17
Ele não multiplicará esposas para si mesmo, para que seu coração não se afaste. Ele não se multiplicará muito para si mesmo prata e ouro.
- 18
Será, quando se sentar no trono de seu reino, que ele mesmo escreverá um exemplar desta lei em um livro, a partir do que está diante dos sacerdotes levíticos.
- 19
Estará com ele, e dele lerá todos os dias de sua vida, para que aprenda a temer a Javé seu Deus, a guardar todas as palavras desta lei e destes estatutos, a fazê-las;
- 20
para que seu coração não se levante acima de seus irmãos, e para que não se afaste do mandamento para a mão direita, ou para a esquerda, até o fim, para que possa prolongar seus dias em seu reino, ele e seus filhos, no meio de Israel.

You shall not sacrifice to the LORD your God an ox or a sheep in which is a defect or anything evil; for that is an abomination to the LORD your God.

If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the LORD your God gives you, a man or woman who does that which is evil in the LORD your God’s sight in transgressing his covenant,
- 3
and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the stars of the sky, which I have not commanded,
- 4
and you are told, and you have heard of it, then you shall inquire diligently. Behold, if it is true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is done in Israel,
- 5
then you shall bring out that man or that woman who has done this evil thing to your gates, even that same man or woman; and you shall stone them to death with stones.
- 6
At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death. At the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.
- 7
The hands of the witnesses shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall remove the evil from among you.
- 8
If there arises a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates, then you shall arise, and go up to the place which the LORD your God chooses.
- 9
You shall come to the priests who are Levites and to the judge who shall be in those days. You shall inquire, and they shall give you the verdict.
- 10
You shall do according to the decisions of the verdict which they shall give you from that place which the LORD chooses. You shall observe to do according to all that they shall teach you.
- 11
According to the decisions of the law which they shall teach you, and according to the judgment which they shall tell you, you shall do. You shall not turn away from the sentence which they announce to you, to the right hand, nor to the left.
- 12
The man who does presumptuously in not listening to the priest who stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or to the judge, even that man shall die. You shall put away the evil from Israel.
- 13
All the people shall hear and fear, and do no more presumptuously.
- 14
When you have come to the land which the LORD your God gives you, and possess it and dwell in it, and say, “I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me,”
- 15
you shall surely set him whom the LORD your God chooses as king over yourselves. You shall set as king over you one from among your brothers. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.
- 16
Only he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he may multiply horses; because the LORD has said to you, “You shall not go back that way again.”
- 17
He shall not multiply wives to himself, that his heart not turn away. He shall not greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
- 18
It shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write himself a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the Levitical priests.
- 19
It shall be with him, and he shall read from it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them;
- 20
that his heart not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he not turn away from the commandment to the right hand, or to the left, to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, in the middle of Israel.
