Moisés e os anciãos de Israel ordenaram ao povo, dizendo: “Guardem todos os mandamentos que hoje lhes ordeno.
- 2
No dia em que vocês atravessarem o Jordão para a terra que o SENHOR, o seu Deus, lhes dá, vocês levantarão grandes pedras e as revestirão com cal.
- 3
Vocês escreverão nelas todas as palavras desta lei, quando tiverem atravessado, para que entrem na terra que o SENHOR, o seu Deus, lhes dá, uma terra que mana leite e mel, como o SENHOR, o Deus dos seus pais, lhes prometeu.

Quando tiverem atravessado o Jordão, vocês levantarão estas pedras, que hoje lhes ordeno, no monte Ebal, e as revestirão com cal.
- 5
Lá vocês edificarão um altar ao SENHOR, o seu Deus, um altar de pedras. Vocês não usarão nenhuma ferramenta de ferro sobre elas.

Vocês edificarão o altar do SENHOR, o seu Deus, com pedras brutas. Vocês oferecerão nele holocaustos ao SENHOR, o seu Deus.
- 7
Vocês sacrificarão ofertas pacíficas e comerão lá. Vocês se alegrarão perante o SENHOR, o seu Deus.
- 8
Vocês escreverão nas pedras todas as palavras desta lei de forma bem clara.”
- 9
Moisés e os sacerdotes levitas falaram a todo o Israel, dizendo: “Fique em silêncio e ouça, Israel! Hoje você se tornou o povo do SENHOR, o seu Deus.
- 10
Portanto, você obedecerá à voz do SENHOR, o seu Deus, e cumprirá os seus mandamentos e os seus estatutos, que hoje lhe ordeno.”

Moisés ordenou ao povo no mesmo dia, dizendo:
- 12
“Estes estarão no monte Gerizim para abençoar o povo, quando vocês tiverem atravessado o Jordão: Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar, José e Benjamim.
- 13
Estes estarão no monte Ebal para a maldição: Rúben, Gade, Aser, Zebulom, Dã e Naftali.
- 14
Com voz forte, os levitas dirão a todos os homens de Israel:
- 15
‘Maldito o homem que fizer imagem esculpida ou fundida, abominação ao SENHOR, obra das mãos do artífice, e a levantar em segredo.’ Todo o povo responderá e dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 16
‘Maldito aquele que desonrar seu pai ou sua mãe.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 17
‘Maldito aquele que remover o marco de divisa do seu próximo.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 18
‘Maldito aquele que fizer o cego se desviar do caminho.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 19
‘Maldito aquele que negar justiça ao estrangeiro, ao órfão e à viúva.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 20
‘Maldito aquele que se deitar com a mulher de seu pai, porque desonra o leito de seu pai.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 21
‘Maldito aquele que se deitar com qualquer tipo de animal.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 22
‘Maldito aquele que se deitar com sua irmã, filha de seu pai ou filha de sua mãe.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 23
‘Maldito aquele que se deitar com sua sogra.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 24
‘Maldito aquele que matar o seu próximo em segredo.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 25
‘Maldito aquele que aceitar suborno para matar uma pessoa inocente.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’
- 26
‘Maldito aquele que não confirmar as palavras desta lei, cumprindo-as.’ Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém.’”

Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep all the commandment which I command you today.
- 2
It shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which the LORD your God gives you, that you shall set yourself up great stones, and coat them with plaster.
- 3
You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have passed over, that you may go in to the land which the LORD your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.
- 4
It shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, on Mount Ebal, and you shall coat them with plaster.
- 5
There you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones. You shall not use any iron tool on them.
- 6
You shall build the LORD your God’s altar of uncut stones. You shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God.
- 7
You shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there. You shall rejoice before the LORD your God.
- 8
You shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly.”
- 9
Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, saying, “Be silent and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of the LORD your God.
- 10
You shall therefore obey the LORD your God’s voice, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you today.”
- 11
Moses commanded the people the same day, saying,
- 12
“These shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have crossed over the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
- 13
These shall stand on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
- 14
With a loud voice, the Levites shall say to all the men of Israel,
- 15
‘Cursed is the man who makes an engraved or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’ All the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen.’
- 16
‘Cursed is he who dishonors his father or his mother.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 17
‘Cursed is he who removes his neighbor’s landmark.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 18
‘Cursed is he who leads the blind astray on the road.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 19
‘Cursed is he who withholds justice from the foreigner, fatherless, and widow.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 20
‘Cursed is he who lies with his father’s wife, because he dishonors his father’s bed.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 21
‘Cursed is he who lies with any kind of animal.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 22
‘Cursed is he who lies with his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 23
‘Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 24
‘Cursed is he who secretly kills his neighbor.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 25
‘Cursed is he who takes a bribe to kill an innocent person.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
- 26
‘Cursed is he who doesn’t uphold the words of this law by doing them.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’”
