Gênesis 1
A criação acontece em seis dias contados, cada um fechado pela frase "houve tarde e manhã". Primeiro a luz, depois o céu, os mares e a terra seca, em seguida os luzeiros, os seres viventes e, por fim, o ser humano. É assim que todo o livro começa: ordem dita sobre o vazio. Repare como Deus dá nome ao que faz e repete que aquilo é bom. O ritmo cresce até o v.26, quando a criação do homem quebra o padrão com uma deliberação: "Façamos o homem à nossa imagem".

No princípio, Deus criou os céus e a terra.

A terra era sem forma e vazia. As trevas estavam sobre a superfície do abismo e o Espírito de Deus pairava sobre a superfície das águas.

Disse Deus: “Haja luz”, e houve luz.

Deus viu a luz, e viu que era boa. Deus separou a luz das trevas.

Deus chamou à luz “dia”, e às trevas ele chamou “noite”. Houve tarde e houve manhã, o primeiro dia.

Disse Deus: “Haja um firmamento no meio das águas, e que ele separe as águas das águas.”

Deus fez o firmamento, e separou as águas que estavam debaixo do firmamento das águas que estavam por cima do firmamento; e assim foi.

Deus chamou ao firmamento “céu”. Houve tarde e houve manhã, o segundo dia.

Disse Deus: “Que as águas debaixo do céu se ajuntem num só lugar, e apareça a porção seca”; e assim foi.

Deus chamou à porção seca “terra”, e ao ajuntamento das águas ele chamou “mares”. Deus viu que era bom.

Disse Deus: “Que a terra produza relva, ervas que deem semente, e árvores frutíferas que deem fruto segundo a sua espécie, com as suas sementes nele, sobre a terra”; e assim foi.

A terra produziu relva, ervas dando semente segundo a sua espécie, e árvores dando fruto, com as suas sementes nele, segundo a sua espécie; e Deus viu que era bom.

Houve tarde e houve manhã, o terceiro dia.

Disse Deus: “Haja luminares no firmamento do céu para separar o dia da noite; e que eles sirvam de sinais para marcar as estações, os dias e os anos;

e que eles sirvam de luminares no firmamento do céu para iluminar a terra”; e assim foi.
- 16
Deus fez os dois grandes luminares: o luminar maior para governar o dia, e o luminar menor para governar a noite. Ele fez também as estrelas.

Deus os colocou no firmamento do céu para iluminar a terra,

e para governar sobre o dia e sobre a noite, e para separar a luz das trevas. Deus viu que era bom.

Houve tarde e houve manhã, o quarto dia.

Disse Deus: “Que as águas fervilhem de criaturas vivas, e que as aves voem sobre a terra no firmamento aberto do céu.”

Deus criou as grandes criaturas marinhas e toda criatura viva que se move, com as quais as águas fervilhavam, segundo a sua espécie, e toda ave alada segundo a sua espécie. Deus viu que era bom.

Deus os abençoou, dizendo: “Sejam férteis e multipliquem-se, e encham as águas nos mares, e que as aves se multipliquem sobre a terra.”

Houve tarde e houve manhã, o quinto dia.

Disse Deus: “Que a terra produza criaturas vivas segundo a sua espécie, gado, animais rastejantes e animais da terra segundo a sua espécie”; e assim foi.

Deus fez os animais da terra segundo a sua espécie, e o gado segundo a sua espécie, e tudo o que rasteja sobre a terra segundo a sua espécie. Deus viu que era bom.

Disse Deus: “Façamos o homem à nossa imagem, conforme a nossa semelhança. Que eles tenham domínio sobre os peixes do mar, e sobre as aves do céu, e sobre o gado, e sobre toda a terra, e sobre todo animal rastejante que rasteja sobre a terra.”

Deus criou o homem à sua própria imagem. À imagem de Deus ele o criou; macho e fêmea ele os criou.

Deus os abençoou. Deus lhes disse: “Sejam férteis, multipliquem-se, encham a terra e subjuguem-na. Tenham domínio sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves do céu e sobre todo ser vivo que se move sobre a terra.”

Disse Deus: “Eis que, eu lhes dei toda erva que dá semente, que está sobre a superfície de toda a terra, e toda árvore que dá fruto com semente. Isso servirá de alimento para vocês.

E a todo animal da terra, e a toda ave do céu, e a tudo o que rasteja sobre a terra, em que há vida, eu dei toda erva verde como alimento”; e assim foi.

Deus viu tudo o que havia feito, e eis que era muito bom. Houve tarde e houve manhã, o sexto dia.

The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.

God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness.

God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day.

God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.

God called the expanse “sky”. There was evening and there was morning, a second day.

God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear;” and it was so.

God called the dry land “earth”, and the gathering together of the waters he called “seas”. God saw that it was good.

God said, “Let the earth yield grass, herbs yielding seeds, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with their seeds in it, on the earth;” and it was so.

The earth yielded grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with their seeds in it, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

There was evening and there was morning, a third day.

God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs to mark seasons, days, and years;

and let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth;” and it was so.

God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars.

God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light to the earth,
- 18
and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.

There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
- 20
God said, “Let the waters abound with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.”

God created the large sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.

God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
- 24
God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind;” and it was so.

God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.

God said, “Let’s make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.

God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.

To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;” and it was so.

God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
Uma estrutura que sobe rumo ao ser humano
Os seis dias formam duas séries paralelas: os dias um a três preparam os ambientes (luz, céu e mar, terra) e os dias quatro a seis os preenchem (luzeiros, peixes e aves, animais e gente).
Só a criatura humana é feita "homem e mulher" à imagem de Deus e recebe o domínio (v.27-28). E o veredito muda: no fim já não é apenas bom, mas "muito bom" (v.31).
