O SENHOR falou a Moisés e a Arão, dizendo-lhes:
- 2
“Falem aos filhos de Israel, dizendo: 'Estes são os seres vivos que vocês podem comer entre todos os animais que estão sobre a terra.
- 3
Todo o que tem o casco fendido e dividido em dois, e que rumina entre os animais, esse vocês podem comer.
- 4
“'Contudo, destes vocês não comerão, dos que ruminam ou dos que têm o casco fendido: o camelo, porque rumina, mas não tem o casco fendido, é imundo para vocês.
- 5
O arganaz, porque rumina, mas não tem o casco fendido, é imundo para vocês.
- 6
A lebre, porque rumina, mas não tem o casco fendido, é imunda para vocês.
- 7
O porco, porque tem o casco fendido e dividido em dois, mas não rumina, é imundo para vocês.
- 8
Vocês não comerão da sua carne, nem tocarão em seus cadáveres. Eles são imundos para vocês.

“'De todos os que estão nas águas, vocês poderão comer estes: tudo o que tem barbatanas e escamas nas águas, nos mares e nos rios, isso vocês poderão comer.
- 10
Mas tudo o que não tem barbatanas nem escamas nos mares e nos rios, todo o que se move nas águas, e todas as criaturas vivas que estão nas águas, serão uma abominação para vocês,
- 11
e vocês os detestarão. Vocês não comerão da sua carne, e detestarão os seus cadáveres.
- 12
Tudo o que não tem barbatanas nem escamas nas águas é uma abominação para vocês.
- 13
“'Vocês detestarão estas entre as aves; elas não devem ser comidas porque são uma abominação: a águia, o abutre, o abutre negro,
- 14
o milhafre vermelho, qualquer espécie de milhafre negro,
- 15
qualquer espécie de corvo,
- 16
a coruja-orelhuda, a coruja-das-torres, a gaivota, qualquer espécie de gavião,
- 17
o mocho, o cormorão, a coruja-grande,
- 18
a coruja-branca, a coruja-do-deserto, a águia-pescadora,
- 19
a cegonha, qualquer espécie de garça, a poupa e o morcego.
- 20
“'Todos os insetos voadores que andam sobre quatro patas são uma abominação para vocês.
- 21
Contudo, vocês podem comer estes: de todas as criaturas aladas que rastejam e andam sobre quatro patas, as que têm pernas longas e articuladas para saltar sobre a terra.
- 22
Destes vocês podem comer: qualquer espécie de gafanhoto migratório, qualquer espécie de esperança, qualquer espécie de grilo, e qualquer espécie de gafanhoto comum.

Mas todas as outras criaturas aladas que rastejam e que têm quatro patas são uma abominação para vocês.

“'Por estes vocês se tornarão imundos: qualquer que tocar em seus cadáveres ficará imundo até a tarde.
- 25
Qualquer que carregar alguma parte de seus cadáveres lavará as suas roupas, e ficará imundo até a tarde.
- 26
“'Todo animal que tem o casco fendido, mas não é completamente dividido, ou que não rumina, é imundo para vocês. Todo aquele que neles tocar ficará imundo.
- 27
Tudo o que anda sobre as suas patas, entre todos os animais que andam sobre quatro patas, é imundo para vocês. Qualquer que tocar em seus cadáveres ficará imundo até a tarde.
- 28
Aquele que carregar os seus cadáveres lavará as suas roupas, e ficará imundo até a tarde. Eles são imundos para vocês.
- 29
“'Estes são os que são imundos para vocês entre as criaturas que rastejam sobre a terra: a doninha, o rato, qualquer espécie de lagarto grande,
- 30
a lagartixa, o lagarto-monitor, o lagarto-de-parede, o escinco e o camaleão.
- 31
Estes são os que são imundos para vocês entre todos os que rastejam. Qualquer que neles tocar quando estiverem mortos ficará imundo até a tarde.
- 32
Qualquer coisa sobre a qual um deles cair quando estiver morto ficará imunda; seja qualquer utensílio de madeira, ou roupa, ou pele, ou saco, qualquer utensílio com o qual se faça algum trabalho, deverá ser colocado na água, e ficará imundo até a tarde. Então ficará limpo.

Todo vaso de barro dentro do qual qualquer um deles cair, e tudo o que nele houver, ficará imundo. Vocês deverão quebrá-lo.
- 34
Todo alimento que se pode comer, que for molhado com água, ficará imundo. Toda bebida que se pode beber, em qualquer desses vasos, ficará imunda.
- 35
Tudo sobre o qual cair alguma parte de seus cadáveres ficará imundo; seja forno, ou fogareiro, deverá ser quebrado em pedaços. Eles são imundos, e serão imundos para vocês.
- 36
Contudo, uma fonte ou uma cisterna na qual se ajunta água será limpa, mas aquilo que tocar em seus cadáveres ficará imundo.
- 37
Se parte de seus cadáveres cair sobre qualquer semente que vai ser semeada, ela estará limpa.
- 38
Mas se for colocada água sobre a semente, e parte de seus cadáveres cair sobre ela, será imunda para vocês.
- 39
“'Se morrer algum animal do qual vocês podem comer, aquele que tocar em seu cadáver ficará imundo até a tarde.
- 40
Aquele que comer do seu cadáver lavará as suas roupas, e ficará imundo até a tarde. Aquele também que carregar o seu cadáver lavará as suas roupas, e ficará imundo até a tarde.

“'Toda criatura que rasteja sobre a terra é uma abominação. Não deverá ser comida.
- 42
Tudo o que anda sobre o ventre, e tudo o que anda sobre quatro patas, ou tudo o que tem muitos pés, sim, todas as criaturas que rastejam sobre a terra, vocês não comerão; pois são uma abominação.
- 43
Vocês não se tornarão abomináveis por causa de qualquer criatura que rasteja. Vocês não se tornarão imundos com elas, para que não sejam contaminados por elas.
- 44
Pois eu sou o SENHOR, o Deus de vocês. Portanto, santifiquem-se e sejam santos; pois eu sou santo. Vocês não se contaminarão com qualquer espécie de criatura rastejante que se move sobre a terra.
- 45
Pois eu sou o SENHOR, que os fiz subir da terra do Egito, para ser o Deus de vocês. Portanto, vocês serão santos, pois eu sou santo.
- 46
“'Esta é a lei a respeito dos animais, e das aves, e de toda criatura viva que se move nas águas, e de toda criatura que rasteja sobre a terra,
- 47
para fazer distinção entre o imundo e o limpo, e entre a criatura viva que pode ser comida e a criatura viva que não pode ser comida.'”

The LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
- 2
“Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.
- 3
Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and chews the cud among the animals, that you may eat.
- 4
“‘Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because it chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, is unclean to you.
- 5
The hyrax, because it chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, is unclean to you.
- 6
The hare, because it chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, is unclean to you.
- 7
The pig, because it has a split hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you.
- 8
You shall not eat their meat. You shall not touch their carcasses. They are unclean to you.
- 9
“‘You may eat of all these that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that you may eat.
- 10
All that don’t have fins and scales in the seas and rivers, all that move in the waters, and all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination to you,
- 11
and you shall detest them. You shall not eat of their meat, and you shall detest their carcasses.
- 12
Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters is an abomination to you.
- 13
“‘You shall detest these among the birds; they shall not be eaten because they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,
- 14
the red kite, any kind of black kite,
- 15
any kind of raven,
- 16
the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,
- 17
the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,
- 18
the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,
- 19
the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat.
- 20
“‘All flying insects that walk on all fours are an abomination to you.
- 21
Yet you may eat these: of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, which have long, jointed legs for hopping on the earth.
- 22
Even of these you may eat: any kind of locust, any kind of katydid, any kind of cricket, and any kind of grasshopper.
- 23
But all winged creeping things which have four feet are an abomination to you.
- 24
“‘By these you will become unclean: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
- 25
Whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
- 26
“‘Every animal which has a split hoof that isn’t completely divided, or doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.
- 27
Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
- 28
He who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. They are unclean to you.
- 29
“‘These are they which are unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,
- 30
the gecko, and the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.
- 31
These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening.
- 32
Anything they fall on when they are dead shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening. Then it will be clean.

Every earthen vessel into which any of them falls and all that is in it shall be unclean. You shall break it.
- 34
All food which may be eaten which is soaked in water shall be unclean. All drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
- 35
Everything whereupon part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces. They are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.
- 36
Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which water is gathered shall be clean, but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean.
- 37
If part of their carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.
- 38
But if water is put on the seed, and part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.
- 39
“‘If any animal of which you may eat dies, he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
- 40
He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
- 41
“‘Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth is an abomination. It shall not be eaten.
- 42
Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creeping things that creep on the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
- 43
You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps. You shall not make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled by them.
- 44
For I am the LORD your God. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any kind of creeping thing that moves on the earth.
- 45
For I am the LORD who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
- 46
“‘This is the law of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,
- 47
to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.’”
