Agora se aproximava a festa dos pães ázimos, que se chama a Páscoa.
- 2
Os chefes dos sacerdotes e os escribas procuravam como o poderiam condenar à morte, pois temiam o povo.
- 3
Satanás entrou em Judas, que também foi chamado de Iscariotes, que foi contado com os doze.
- 4
Ele foi embora e conversou com os chefes dos sacerdotes e capitães sobre como ele poderia entregá-lo a eles.

Eles ficaram contentes, e concordaram em dar-lhe dinheiro.

Ele consentiu e procurou uma oportunidade de entregá-lo a eles, na ausência da multidão.

Chegou o dia dos pães ázimos, no qual a Páscoa deve ser sacrificada.

Jesus enviou Pedro e João, dizendo: “Ide e preparai a Páscoa para nós, para que possamos comer”.

Eles lhe disseram: “Onde você quer que nos preparemos?”

Ele lhes disse: “Eis que, quando vocês entrarem na cidade, um homem carregando um cântaro de água irá ao seu encontro”. Sigam-no até a casa na qual ele entra.

Diga ao dono da casa: “O Mestre lhe diz: “Onde está o quarto de hóspedes, onde eu posso comer a Páscoa com meus discípulos”.
- 12
Ele lhe mostrará um quarto superior grande e mobiliado. Façam ali os preparativos”.

Eles foram, encontraram coisas como Jesus lhes havia dito, e prepararam a Páscoa.

Quando chegou a hora, ele se sentou com os doze apóstolos.
- 15
Ele lhes disse: “Desejei ardentemente comer esta Páscoa com vocês antes de sofrer,
- 16
pois lhes digo que não comerei mais até que ela se cumpra no Reino de Deus”.
- 17
Ele recebeu um copo, e quando agradeceu, disse: “ Tomem isto e compartilhem entre vocês,
- 18
pois lhes digo que não beberei mais do fruto da videira, até que venha o Reino de Deus”.
- 19
Ele pegou o pão, e quando deu graças, quebrou e deu a eles, dizendo: “Este é o meu corpo que é dado por vocês. Fazei isto em memória de mim”.
- 20
Da mesma forma, ele tomou o cálice após o jantar, dizendo: “Este cálice é o novo pacto em meu sangue, que é derramado por vocês”.

Mas eis que a mão daquele que me trai está comigo sobre a mesa.

O Filho do Homem realmente vai como foi determinado, mas ai daquele homem por quem ele é traído”!

Eles começaram a questionar entre si quais deles seriam os que fariam essa coisa.
- 24
Também surgiu uma disputa entre eles, qual deles foi considerado como o maior.
- 25
Ele lhes disse: “Os reis das nações os dominam, e aqueles que têm autoridade sobre eles são chamados de 'benfeitores'.
- 26
Mas não é assim com vocês. Ao contrário, aquele que é maior entre vós, deixai-o tornar-se como o mais jovem, e aquele que está governando, como aquele que serve.
- 27
Para quem é maior, aquele que se senta à mesa, ou aquele que serve? Não é aquele que se senta à mesa? Mas eu estou entre vós como aquele que serve.

“Mas vocês são aqueles que continuaram comigo em minhas provações”.
- 29
Eu vos confio um reino, assim como meu Pai me conferiu,
- 30
para que possais comer e beber à minha mesa no meu Reino. Sentar-vos-eis nos tronos, julgando as doze tribos de Israel”.

O Senhor disse: “Simão, Simão, eis que Satanás pediu a todos vós, para poder peneirar-vos como trigo,
- 32
mas eu orei por vós, para que vossa fé não falhasse. Vós, quando vos converterdes novamente, estabelecei vossos irmãos”.

Ele lhe disse: “Senhor, estou pronto para ir convosco à prisão e à morte”!
- 34
Ele disse: “Eu te digo, Peter, o galo não cantará de forma alguma hoje até que você negue que me conhece três vezes”.
- 35
Ele disse-lhes: “Quando vos mandei sem bolsa, bolsa e sandálias, faltava-vos alguma coisa”? Eles disseram: “Nada”.
- 36
Então ele lhes disse: “Mas agora, quem tiver uma bolsa, deixe-o levá-la, e da mesma forma uma bolsa. Quem não tiver nenhuma, deixe-o vender seu manto e comprar uma espada.

Pois eu lhes digo que isto que está escrito ainda deve ser cumprido em mim: “Ele foi contado com transgressores”. Pois o que me diz respeito está sendo cumprido”.

Eles disseram: “Senhor, eis aqui duas espadas”. Ele disse a eles: “Já chega”.

Ele saiu e foi, como era seu costume, para o Monte das Oliveiras. Seus discípulos também o seguiram.

Quando ele estava no local, disse-lhes: “Orem para que não entrem em tentação”.
- 41
Ele foi retirado deles sobre um lançamento de pedra, e ajoelhou-se e orou,
- 42
dizendo: “Pai, se você estiver disposto, remova este copo de mim”. No entanto, não a minha vontade, mas a sua, seja feita”.

Um anjo do céu lhe apareceu, fortalecendo-o.
- 44
Estando em agonia, ele rezou com mais sinceridade. Seu suor se tornou como grandes gotas de sangue caindo no chão.

Quando ele se levantou de sua oração, veio até os discípulos e os encontrou dormindo por causa da dor,
- 46
e lhes disse: “Por que você dorme? Levantai-vos e orai para que não entreis em tentação”.
- 47
Enquanto ele ainda estava falando, apareceu uma multidão. Aquele que se chamava Judas, um dos doze, os estava liderando. Ele se aproximou de Jesus para beijá-lo.

Mas Jesus lhe disse: “Judas, você trai o Filho do Homem com um beijo?
- 49
Quando aqueles que estavam ao seu redor viram o que estava prestes a acontecer, disseram-lhe: “Senhor, vamos atacar com a espada?”.

Um certo deles golpeou o servo do sumo sacerdote e cortou-lhe a orelha direita.
- 51
Mas Jesus respondeu: “Deixe-me ao menos fazer isto ” - e ele tocou seu ouvido e o curou.
- 52
Jesus disse aos chefes dos sacerdotes, capitães do templo e anciãos, que tinham vindo contra ele: “Você saiu como se fosse contra um ladrão, com espadas e paus?
- 53
Quando eu estava com você no templo diariamente, você não estendia as mãos contra mim. Mas esta é a sua hora, e o poder das trevas”.

Eles o apreenderam e o levaram embora, e o trouxeram para a casa do sumo sacerdote. Mas Peter o seguiu de longe.
- 55
Quando eles acenderam um incêndio no meio do pátio e se sentaram juntos, Peter sentou-se no meio deles.
- 56
Uma certa criada o viu enquanto ele se sentava na luz, e olhando atentamente para ele, disse: “Este homem também estava com ele”.

Ele negou Jesus, dizendo: “Mulher, eu não o conheço”.
- 58
Depois de algum tempo, alguém o viu e disse: “Você também é um deles”! Mas Peter respondeu: “Cara, eu não sou!”

Após cerca de uma hora, outro afirmou confiante, dizendo: “Verdadeiramente este homem também estava com ele, pois ele é galileu!

Mas Peter disse: “Cara, eu não sei do que você está falando!” Imediatamente, enquanto ele ainda estava falando, um galo cantou.

O Senhor se virou e olhou para Pedro. Então Pedro lembrou-se da palavra do Senhor, como ele lhe disse: “Antes que o galo corra, você me negará três vezes”.

Ele saiu, e chorou amargamente.
- 63
Os homens que pegaram Jesus zombaram dele e o espancaram.

Having o vendaram, bateram-lhe no rosto e lhe perguntaram: “Profetiza! Quem foi o que lhe bateu?”.

Eles disseram muitas outras coisas contra ele, insultando-o.

Assim que chegou o dia, a assembléia dos anciãos do povo se reuniu, tanto os chefes dos sacerdotes como os escribas, e eles o levaram para seu conselho, dizendo:

“Se você é o Cristo, diga-nos”. Mas ele lhes disse: “Se eu lhes disser, vocês não vão acreditar,
- 68
e se eu perguntar, vocês de forma alguma me responderão ou me deixarão ir”.

De agora em diante, o Filho do Homem estará sentado à direita do poder de Deus”.

Todos disseram: “Você é então o Filho de Deus”? Ele lhes disse: “Você o diz, porque eu sou”.

Eles disseram: “Por que precisamos de mais testemunhas? Porque nós mesmos já ouvimos de sua própria boca”!

Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.
- 2
The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

Satan entered into Judas, who was also called Iscariot, who was counted with the twelve.
- 4
He went away and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.
- 5
They were glad, and agreed to give him money.
- 6
He consented and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.
- 7
The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.
- 8
Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
- 9
They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”
- 10
He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.
- 11
Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
- 12
He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”
- 13
They went, found things as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
- 14
When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.
- 15
He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,
- 16
for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.”
- 17
He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this and share it among yourselves,
- 18
for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until God’s Kingdom comes.”
- 19
He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”
- 20
Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
- 21
But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.
- 22
The Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”
- 23
They began to question among themselves which of them it was who would do this thing.
- 24
A dispute also arose among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.
- 25
He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’
- 26
But not so with you. Rather, the one who is greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.
- 27
For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
- 28
“But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.
- 29
I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,
- 30
that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
- 31
The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have all of you, that he might sift you as wheat,
- 32
but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.”
- 33
He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”
- 34
He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”
- 35
He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, bag, and sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”
- 36
Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a bag. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.
- 37
For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ For that which concerns me is being fulfilled.”
- 38
They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”
- 39
He came out and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.
- 40
When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”
- 41
He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,
- 42
saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
- 43
An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.
- 44
Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.
- 45
When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping because of grief,
- 46
and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
- 47
While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared. He who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.
- 48
But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”
- 49
When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
- 50
A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
- 51
But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear and healed him.
- 52
Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?
- 53
When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”
- 54
They seized him and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.
- 55
When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.
- 56
A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”
- 57
He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”
- 58
After a little while someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”
- 59
After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”
- 60
But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”
- 62
He went out, and wept bitterly.
- 63
The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.
- 64
Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”
- 65
They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.
- 66
As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people were gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,
- 67
“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,
- 68
and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.
- 69
From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
- 70
They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”
- 71
They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”
