Balaão disse a Balaque: “Construa-me aqui sete altares, e prepare-me aqui sete touros e sete carneiros.”
- 2
Balaque fez como Balaão tinha falado; e Balaque e Balaão ofereceram em cada altar um touro e um carneiro.

Balaão disse a Balaque: “Fique junto ao seu holocausto, e eu irei. Talvez o SENHOR venha ao meu encontro. O que ele me mostrar, eu lhe direi.” Ele foi a um lugar alto e deserto.

Deus encontrou-se com Balaão, e este lhe disse: “Preparei os sete altares, e ofereci um touro e um carneiro em cada altar.”

O SENHOR colocou uma palavra na boca de Balaão, e disse: “Volte a Balaque, e assim você falará.”
- 6
Ele voltou para ele, e eis que estava em pé junto ao seu holocausto, ele e todos os príncipes de Moabe.
- 7
Ele proferiu o seu oráculo, e disse: “De Arã, Balaque me trouxe, o rei de Moabe, das montanhas do Oriente. Venha, amaldiçoe a Jacó para mim. Venha, desafie a Israel.

Como amaldiçoarei a quem Deus não amaldiçoou? Como desafiarei a quem o SENHOR não desafiou?
- 9
Pois do topo das rochas eu o vejo. Das colinas eu o contemplo. Eis que é um povo que habita só, e não será contado entre as nações.
- 10
Quem pode contar o pó de Jacó, ou contar a quarta parte de Israel? Que eu morra a morte dos justos! Que o meu fim seja como o dele!”

Balaque disse a Balaão: “O que você fez comigo? Eu o trouxe para amaldiçoar meus inimigos, e eis que você os abençoou inteiramente.”

Ele respondeu e disse: “Não devo eu ter o cuidado de falar o que o SENHOR coloca em minha boca?”
- 13
Balaque lhe disse: “Por favor, venha comigo para outro lugar, de onde você possa vê-los. Você verá apenas uma parte deles, e não os verá todos. Amaldiçoe-os de lá para mim.”

Ele o levou ao campo de Zofim, ao topo de Pisga, construiu sete altares, e ofereceu um touro e um carneiro em cada altar.

Ele disse a Balaque: “Fique aqui junto ao seu holocausto, enquanto eu me encontro com Deus ali.”
- 16
O SENHOR encontrou-se com Balaão, colocou uma palavra em sua boca, e disse: “Volte a Balaque, e diga isto.”
- 17
Ele foi até ele, e eis que estava em pé junto ao seu holocausto, e os príncipes de Moabe com ele. Balaque lhe perguntou: “O que o SENHOR falou?”

Ele proferiu o seu oráculo, e disse: “Levante-se, Balaque, e ouça! Escute-me, você, filho de Zipor.
- 19
Deus não é homem, para que minta, nem filho do homem, para que se arrependa. Porventura ele disse, e não o fará? Ou falou, e não o cumprirá?
- 20
Eis que recebi ordem para abençoar. Ele abençoou, e eu não posso revogá-la.
- 21
Ele não viu iniquidade em Jacó. Nem viu perversidade em Israel. O SENHOR, seu Deus, está com ele. A aclamação de um rei está entre eles.
- 22
Deus os tira do Egito. Ele tem como que a força de um boi selvagem.
- 23
Certamente não há encantamento contra Jacó; nem há adivinhação contra Israel. Agora se dirá de Jacó e de Israel: 'O que Deus tem feito!'
- 24
Eis que um povo se levanta como leoa. Como um leão ele se ergue. Ele não se deitará até que devore a presa, e beba o sangue dos abatidos.”

Balaque disse a Balaão: “Não os amaldiçoe de forma alguma, nem os abençoe de forma alguma.”
- 26
Mas Balaão respondeu a Balaque: “Eu não lhe disse: 'Tudo o que o SENHOR falar, isso eu devo fazer'?”

Balaque disse a Balaão: “Venha agora, eu o levarei a outro lugar; talvez agrade a Deus que de lá você os amaldiçoe para mim.”

Balaque levou Balaão ao topo de Peor, que tem vista para o deserto.

Balaão disse a Balaque: “Construa-me aqui sete altares, e prepare-me aqui sete touros e sete carneiros.”

Balaque fez como Balaão tinha dito, e ofereceu um touro e um carneiro em cada altar.

Balaam said to Balak, “Build here seven altars for me, and prepare here seven bulls and seven rams for me.”

Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bull and a ram.

Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet me. Whatever he shows me I will tell you.” He went to a bare height.

God met Balaam, and he said to him, “I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.”

The LORD put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.”
- 6
He returned to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.
- 7
He took up his parable, and said, “From Aram has Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the mountains of the East. Come, curse Jacob for me. Come, defy Israel.
- 8
How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? How shall I defy whom the LORD has not defied?
- 9
For from the top of the rocks I see him. From the hills I see him. Behold, it is a people that dwells alone, and shall not be listed among the nations.
- 10
Who can count the dust of Jacob, or count the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous! Let my last end be like his!”

Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and behold, you have blessed them altogether.”
- 12
He answered and said, “Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD puts in my mouth?”
- 13
Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place, where you may see them. You shall see just part of them, and shall not see them all. Curse them from there for me.”
- 14
He took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.

He said to Balak, “Stand here by your burnt offering, while I meet God over there.”
- 16
The LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and say this.”
- 17
He came to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. Balak said to him, “What has the LORD spoken?”
- 18
He took up his parable, and said, “Rise up, Balak, and hear! Listen to me, you son of Zippor.
- 19
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good?
- 20
Behold, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can’t reverse it.
- 21
He has not seen iniquity in Jacob. Neither has he seen perverseness in Israel. The LORD his God is with him. The shout of a king is among them.

God brings them out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox.
- 23
Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob; neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘What has God done!’
- 24
Behold, a people rises up as a lioness. As a lion he lifts himself up. He shall not lie down until he eats of the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.”

Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.”
- 26
But Balaam answered Balak, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘All that the LORD speaks, that I must do’?”
- 27
Balak said to Balaam, “Come now, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse them for me from there.”
- 28
Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down on the desert.
- 29
Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me here.”

Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.
