No quadragésimo oitavo ano após os filhos de Israel terem saído da terra do Egito, no quarto ano do reinado de Salomão sobre Israel, no mês de Ziv, que é o segundo mês, ele começou a construir a casa de Yahweh.

A casa que o rei Salomão construiu para Iavé tinha um comprimento de sessenta côvados, e sua largura vinte, e sua altura trinta côvados.

O alpendre em frente ao templo da casa tinha um comprimento de vinte côvados, que era ao longo da largura da casa. Dez côvados era sua largura em frente à casa.

Ele fez janelas de treliça fixa para a casa.

Contra a parede da casa, ele construiu pisos ao redor, contra as paredes da casa ao redor, tanto do templo como do santuário interno; e fez cômodos laterais ao redor.

O piso mais baixo tinha cinco cúbitos de largura, o meio tinha seis cúbitos de largura, e o terceiro tinha sete cúbitos de largura; pois no exterior ele fez compensações na parede da casa ao redor, para que as vigas não fossem inseridas nas paredes da casa.

A casa, quando estava em construção, foi construída de pedra preparada na pedreira; e nenhum martelo ou machado ou qualquer ferramenta de ferro foi ouvido na casa enquanto ela estava em construção.

A porta para os quartos do meio ficava no lado direito da casa. Eles subiram por escadas sinuosas para o andar do meio, e do meio para o terceiro.

Então ele construiu a casa e a terminou; e cobriu a casa com vigas e tábuas de cedro.

Ele construiu os pisos ao longo da casa, cada um com cinco cúbitos de altura; e eles descansaram sobre a casa com madeiras de cedro.

A palavra de Javé veio a Salomão, dizendo:

“Quanto a esta casa que você está construindo, se você entrar em meus estatutos, e executar minhas ordenanças, e guardar todos os meus mandamentos para andar neles, então eu estabelecerei minha palavra com você, que eu falei com David, seu pai.

habitarei entre os filhos de Israel, e não abandonarei meu povo Israel”.

Então, Salomão construiu a casa e a terminou.

Ele construiu as paredes internas da casa com tábuas de cedro; do chão da casa às paredes do teto, ele as cobriu por dentro com madeira. Ele cobriu o chão da casa com tábuas de cipreste.

Ele construiu vinte cúbitos da parte traseira da casa com tábuas de cedro desde o chão até o teto. Ele construiu isto dentro, para um santuário interno, até mesmo para o lugar mais sagrado.

Em frente ao santuário do templo tinha quarenta côvados de comprimento.
- 18
Havia cedro no interior da casa, esculpido com botões e flores abertas. Tudo era cedro. Nenhuma pedra era visível.

Ele preparou um santuário interno no meio da casa, para colocar ali a arca do pacto de Yahweh.
- 20
Within o santuário interno tinha vinte cúbitos de comprimento, vinte cúbitos de largura e vinte cúbitos de altura. Ele o revestiu com ouro puro. Ele cobriu o altar com cedro.

Assim, Salomão cobriu a casa por dentro com ouro puro. Ele desenhou correntes de ouro diante do santuário interior, e o revestiu com ouro.

Ele cobriu toda a casa com ouro, até que toda a casa estivesse terminada. Ele também revestiu com ouro todo o altar que pertencia ao interior do santuário.

No interior do santuário ele fez dois querubins de madeira de oliveira, cada um com dez côvados de altura.
- 24
Cinco cúbitos era o comprimento de uma asa do querubim, e cinco cúbitos era o comprimento da outra asa do querubim. Da ponta de uma asa até a ponta da outra, dez côvados.

O outro querubim tinha dez côvados. Ambos os querubins eram de uma medida e de uma forma.

Um querubim tinha dez côvados de altura, assim como o outro querubim.

Ele colocou o querubim dentro da casa interior. As asas dos querubins eram esticadas, de modo que a asa de um tocava uma parede e a asa do outro querubim tocava a outra parede; e suas asas tocavam uma na outra no meio da casa.

Ele cobriu o querubim com ouro.

Ele esculpiu todas as paredes da casa ao redor com figuras esculpidas de querubins, palmeiras e flores abertas, por dentro e por fora.

Ele cobriu o chão da casa com ouro, por dentro e por fora.

Para a entrada do santuário interno, ele fez portas de madeira de oliveira. O lintel e os postes das portas eram uma quinta parte da parede.

Assim, ele fez duas portas de madeira de oliveira; e esculpiu nelas esculturas de querubins, palmeiras e flores abertas, e as revestiu com ouro. Ele espalhou o ouro sobre os querubins e sobre as palmeiras.

Ele também fez a entrada dos postes das portas do templo de madeira de oliveira, de uma quarta parte da parede,

e duas portas de madeira de cipreste. As duas folhas de uma porta eram dobráveis, e as duas folhas da outra porta eram dobráveis.

Ele esculpiu querubins, palmeiras e flores abertas; e as revestiu com ouro colocado sobre a obra gravada.

Ele construiu a quadra interna com três cursos de pedra cortada e um curso de vigas de cedro.

A fundação da casa de Yahweh foi lançada no quarto ano, no mês de Ziv.
- 38
No décimo primeiro ano, no mês Bul, que é o oitavo mês, a casa foi terminada em todas as suas partes e de acordo com todas as suas especificações. Por isso, ele passou sete anos construindo-a.

In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build the LORD’s house.

The house which King Solomon built for the LORD had a length of sixty cubits, and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.
- 3
The porch in front of the temple of the house had a length of twenty cubits, which was along the width of the house. Ten cubits was its width in front of the house.

He made windows of fixed lattice work for the house.
- 5
Against the wall of the house, he built floors all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the inner sanctuary; and he made side rooms all around.

The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.

The house, when it was under construction, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and no hammer or ax or any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was under construction.

The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house. They went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third.

So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.
- 10
He built the floors all along the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timbers of cedar.
- 11
The LORD’s word came to Solomon, saying,
- 12
“Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.
- 13
I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”
- 14
So Solomon built the house and finished it.

He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards.
- 16
He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.

In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.
- 18
There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers. All was cedar. No stone was visible.

He prepared an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house within, to set the ark of the LORD’s covenant there.
- 20
Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He covered the altar with cedar.
- 21
So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold. He drew chains of gold across before the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.

He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. He also overlaid the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary with gold.

In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.

Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits was the length of the other wing of the cherub. From the tip of one wing to the tip of the other was ten cubits.

The other cherub was ten cubits. Both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
- 26
One cherub was ten cubits high, and so was the other cherub.
- 27
He set the cherubim within the inner house. The wings of the cherubim were stretched out, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the middle of the house.

He overlaid the cherubim with gold.
- 29
He carved all the walls of the house around with carved figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inside and outside.

He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inside and outside.
- 31
For the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood. The lintel and door posts were a fifth part of the wall.
- 32
So he made two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold. He spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.

He also made the entrance of the temple door posts of olive wood, out of a fourth part of the wall,

and two doors of cypress wood. The two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

He carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work.
- 36
He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone and a course of cedar beams.
- 37
The foundation of the LORD’s house was laid in the fourth year, in the month Ziv.
- 38
In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its specifications. So he spent seven years building it.
