No quadringentésimo octogésimo ano depois que os filhos de Israel saíram da terra do Egito, no quarto ano do reinado de Salomão sobre Israel, no mês de Zive, que é o segundo mês, ele começou a edificar a casa do SENHOR.

A casa que o rei Salomão edificou para o SENHOR tinha o comprimento de sessenta côvados, a sua largura era de vinte, e a sua altura de trinta côvados.

O pórtico diante do templo da casa tinha vinte côvados de comprimento, o que correspondia à largura da casa. Sua largura era de dez côvados à frente da casa.

Ele fez para a casa janelas com grades fixas.

Contra a parede da casa, ele construiu andares ao redor, contra as paredes da casa ao redor, tanto do templo quanto do santuário interior; e ele fez câmaras laterais ao redor.

O andar mais baixo tinha cinco côvados de largura, o do meio tinha seis côvados de largura, e o terceiro tinha sete côvados de largura; pois do lado de fora ele fez reentrâncias na parede da casa ao redor, para que as vigas não fossem inseridas nas paredes da casa.

A casa, quando estava em construção, foi edificada com pedras preparadas na pedreira; e não se ouviu martelo, nem machado, nem qualquer ferramenta de ferro na casa enquanto estava em construção.

A porta para as câmaras laterais do meio ficava no lado direito da casa. Eles subiam por escadas em caracol para o andar do meio, e do andar do meio para o terceiro.

Assim ele edificou a casa e a terminou; e cobriu a casa com vigas e tábuas de cedro.

Ele construiu os andares ao longo de toda a casa, cada um com cinco côvados de altura; e eles se apoiavam na casa com vigas de cedro.

A palavra do SENHOR veio a Salomão, dizendo:
- 12
“Quanto a esta casa que você está edificando, se você andar nos meus estatutos, executar as minhas ordenanças e guardar todos os meus mandamentos para andar neles, então confirmarei a minha palavra com você, a qual falei a Davi, seu pai.

Habitarei no meio dos filhos de Israel, e não desampararei o meu povo Israel.”

Assim Salomão edificou a casa e a terminou.
- 15
Ele construiu as paredes internas da casa com tábuas de cedro; desde o assoalho da casa até as paredes do teto, ele as revestiu por dentro com madeira. Ele revestiu o assoalho da casa com tábuas de cipreste.

Ele construiu vinte côvados da parte de trás da casa com tábuas de cedro, do assoalho ao teto. Ele construiu isso na parte de dentro, para um santuário interior, o Lugar Santíssimo.

A parte da frente do santuário do templo tinha quarenta côvados de comprimento.

Havia cedro na parte interna da casa, entalhado com botões e flores abertas. Tudo era de cedro. Nenhuma pedra era visível.

Ele preparou um santuário interior no meio da casa, na parte de dentro, para ali colocar a arca da aliança do SENHOR.
- 20
O interior do santuário interior tinha vinte côvados de comprimento, vinte côvados de largura e vinte côvados de altura. Ele o revestiu de ouro puro. Ele também revestiu o altar de cedro.

Assim Salomão revestiu o interior da casa com ouro puro. Ele estendeu correntes de ouro em frente ao santuário interior, e o revestiu de ouro.

Ele revestiu toda a casa de ouro, até que toda a casa estivesse terminada. Ele também revestiu de ouro todo o altar que pertencia ao santuário interior.

No santuário interior ele fez dois querubins de madeira de oliveira, cada um com dez côvados de altura.

O comprimento de uma asa do querubim era de cinco côvados, e o comprimento da outra asa do querubim era de cinco côvados. Da ponta de uma asa até a ponta da outra havia dez côvados.

O outro querubim tinha dez côvados. Ambos os querubins tinham a mesma medida e a mesma forma.

Um querubim tinha dez côvados de altura, e o outro querubim também.

Ele colocou os querubins na parte mais interior da casa. As asas dos querubins estavam estendidas, de modo que a asa de um tocava em uma parede e a asa do outro querubim tocava na outra parede; e as suas asas se tocavam no meio da casa.

Ele revestiu os querubins de ouro.

Ele entalhou todas as paredes da casa ao redor com figuras esculpidas de querubins, palmeiras e flores abertas, tanto na parte interna quanto na externa.

Ele revestiu o assoalho da casa de ouro, tanto na parte interna quanto na externa.

Para a entrada do santuário interior, ele fez portas de madeira de oliveira. A verga e as ombreiras ocupavam a quinta parte da parede.

Assim ele fez duas portas de madeira de oliveira; e entalhou nelas esculturas de querubins, palmeiras e flores abertas, e as revestiu de ouro. Ele estendeu o ouro sobre os querubins e sobre as palmeiras.

Ele também fez para a entrada do templo ombreiras de madeira de oliveira, ocupando a quarta parte da parede,

e duas portas de madeira de cipreste. As duas folhas de uma porta eram dobráveis, e as duas folhas da outra porta eram dobráveis.

Ele entalhou querubins, palmeiras e flores abertas; e as revestiu de ouro ajustado sobre o trabalho esculpido.

Ele construiu o pátio interior com três fileiras de pedras lavradas e uma fileira de vigas de cedro.

O alicerce da casa do SENHOR foi lançado no quarto ano, no mês de Zive.

No décimo primeiro ano, no mês de Bul, que é o oitavo mês, a casa foi terminada em todas as suas partes e de acordo com todas as suas especificações. Assim, ele levou sete anos para edificá-la.

In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build the LORD’s house.

The house which King Solomon built for the LORD had a length of sixty cubits, and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.
- 3
The porch in front of the temple of the house had a length of twenty cubits, which was along the width of the house. Ten cubits was its width in front of the house.

He made windows of fixed lattice work for the house.
- 5
Against the wall of the house, he built floors all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the inner sanctuary; and he made side rooms all around.

The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.

The house, when it was under construction, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and no hammer or ax or any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was under construction.

The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house. They went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third.

So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.
- 10
He built the floors all along the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timbers of cedar.
- 11
The LORD’s word came to Solomon, saying,
- 12
“Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.
- 13
I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”
- 14
So Solomon built the house and finished it.

He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards.
- 16
He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.

In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.
- 18
There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers. All was cedar. No stone was visible.

He prepared an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house within, to set the ark of the LORD’s covenant there.
- 20
Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He covered the altar with cedar.
- 21
So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold. He drew chains of gold across before the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.

He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. He also overlaid the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary with gold.

In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.
- 24
Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits was the length of the other wing of the cherub. From the tip of one wing to the tip of the other was ten cubits.

The other cherub was ten cubits. Both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
- 26
One cherub was ten cubits high, and so was the other cherub.
- 27
He set the cherubim within the inner house. The wings of the cherubim were stretched out, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the middle of the house.

He overlaid the cherubim with gold.
- 29
He carved all the walls of the house around with carved figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inside and outside.

He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inside and outside.
- 31
For the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood. The lintel and door posts were a fifth part of the wall.
- 32
So he made two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold. He spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.

He also made the entrance of the temple door posts of olive wood, out of a fourth part of the wall,
- 34
and two doors of cypress wood. The two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

He carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work.
- 36
He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone and a course of cedar beams.
- 37
The foundation of the LORD’s house was laid in the fourth year, in the month Ziv.
- 38
In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its specifications. So he spent seven years building it.
