Agora, irmãos, a respeito da vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e de nossa reunião com ele, pedimos a vocês

que não se abalem rapidamente em sua mente ou se perturbem, seja por espírito ou por palavra ou por carta, como se fosse de nós, dizendo que o dia de Cristo já chegou.
- 3
Não deixe que ninguém o engane de forma alguma. Pois não será a menos que a rebelião venha primeiro, e o homem do pecado seja revelado, o filho da destruição.

Ele se opõe e se exalta contra tudo o que se chama Deus ou que é adorado, de modo que se senta como Deus no templo de Deus, se constituindo como Deus.

Você não se lembra que quando eu ainda estava com você, eu lhe disse estas coisas?
- 6
Agora você sabe o que o detém, até o fim de que ele possa ser revelado em sua própria estação.
- 7
Pois o mistério da ilegalidade já funciona. Só existe um que o detém agora, até que ele seja retirado do caminho.
- 8
Então será revelado o iníquo, a quem o Senhor matará com o sopro de sua boca e destruirá pela manifestação de sua vinda;
- 9
até mesmo aquele cuja vinda está de acordo com a obra de Satanás com todo poder e sinais e maravilhas mentirosas,
- 10
e com todo engano da maldade para aqueles que estão sendo perdidos, porque não receberam o amor da verdade, para que possam ser salvos.

Por causa disso, Deus lhes envia uma poderosa ilusão, para que acreditem numa mentira,
- 12
para que todos eles possam ser julgados que não acreditaram na verdade, mas tiveram prazer na iniquidade.

Mas somos obrigados a dar sempre graças a Deus por vocês, irmãos amados pelo Senhor, porque Deus os escolheu desde o início para a salvação através da santificação do Espírito e da crença na verdade,
- 14
para a qual Ele os chamou através de nossa Boa Nova, para a obtenção da glória de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
- 15
Portanto, irmãos, permanecei firmes e mantende as tradições que vos foram ensinadas por nós, seja por palavra, seja por carta.
- 16
Agora o próprio Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, e Deus nosso Pai, que nos amou e nos deu conforto eterno e boa esperança através da graça,
- 17
confortai vossos corações e estabelecei-vos em toda boa obra e palavra.

Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we ask you

not to be quickly shaken in your mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter as if from us, saying that the day of Christ has already come.
- 3
Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction.

He opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.

Don’t you remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
- 6
Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.
- 7
For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.
- 8
Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
- 9
even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
- 10
and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Because of this, God sends them a powerful delusion, that they should believe a lie,
- 12
that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
- 13
But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth,
- 14
to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word or by letter.
- 16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
- 17
comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
