O SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:

“Diga aos filhos de Israel que voltem e acampem diante de Pi-Hairote, entre Migdol e o mar, diante de Baal-Zefom. Vocês acamparão em frente a ele, junto ao mar.
3
Faraó dirá a respeito dos filhos de Israel: ‘Eles estão desorientados na terra. O deserto os encurralou.’
4
Eu endurecerei o coração de Faraó, e ele os perseguirá; e serei glorificado sobre Faraó e sobre todos os seus exércitos; e os egípcios saberão que eu sou o SENHOR.” E eles assim fizeram.
5
Foi anunciado ao rei do Egito que o povo havia fugido; e o coração de Faraó e de seus servos mudou em relação ao povo, e disseram: “O que é isso que fizemos, deixando Israel ir, para não mais nos servir?”
6
Ele preparou o seu carro de guerra e levou o seu exército consigo;
7
e tomou seiscentos carros escolhidos, e todos os carros do Egito, com capitães sobre todos eles.
8
O SENHOR endureceu o coração de Faraó, rei do Egito, e ele perseguiu os filhos de Israel; pois os filhos de Israel saíram com mão erguida.
9
Os egípcios os perseguiram. Todos os cavalos e carros de Faraó, seus cavaleiros e o seu exército os alcançaram enquanto acampavam junto ao mar, perto de Pi-Hairote, diante de Baal-Zefom.
10
Quando Faraó se aproximou, os filhos de Israel levantaram os olhos e eis que os egípcios marchavam atrás deles; e ficaram com muito medo. Os filhos de Israel clamaram ao SENHOR.
11
Eles disseram a Moisés: “Foi por não haver túmulos no Egito que você nos tirou para morrermos no deserto? Por que você nos tratou desta maneira, tirando-nos do Egito?
12
Não é esta a palavra que lhe falamos no Egito, dizendo: ‘Deixe-nos em paz, para que sirvamos aos egípcios’? Pois teria sido melhor para nós servirmos aos egípcios do que morrermos no deserto.”
13
Moisés disse ao povo: “Não tenham medo. Fiquem firmes e vejam a salvação do SENHOR, que ele realizará por vocês hoje; pois os egípcios que vocês veem hoje, nunca mais os verão.
14
O SENHOR lutará por vocês, e vocês ficarão quietos.”
15
O SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Por que você clama a mim? Diga aos filhos de Israel que marchem.
16
Levante a sua vara, estenda a mão sobre o mar e divida-o. Então os filhos de Israel entrarão pelo meio do mar em terra seca.
17
Eis que eu mesmo endurecerei os corações dos egípcios, e eles entrarão atrás deles. Eu serei glorificado sobre Faraó e sobre todos os seus exércitos, sobre os seus carros e sobre os seus cavaleiros.
18
Os egípcios saberão que eu sou o SENHOR, quando eu for glorificado sobre Faraó, sobre os seus carros e sobre os seus cavaleiros.”
19
O anjo de Deus, que ia adiante do acampamento de Israel, moveu-se e foi para trás deles; e a coluna de nuvem moveu-se de diante deles e colocou-se atrás deles.
20
Ela veio entre o acampamento do Egito e o acampamento de Israel. Havia a nuvem e a escuridão, mas ela iluminava a noite. Um não se aproximou do outro durante toda a noite.
21
Moisés estendeu a mão sobre o mar, e o SENHOR fez o mar recuar por um forte vento oriental durante toda a noite, e tornou o mar em terra seca, e as águas foram divididas.
22
Os filhos de Israel entraram pelo meio do mar em terra seca; e as águas foram como um muro para eles à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
23
Os egípcios os perseguiram e entraram atrás deles até o meio do mar: todos os cavalos de Faraó, os seus carros e os seus cavaleiros.
24
Na vigília da manhã, o SENHOR olhou para o exército egípcio através da coluna de fogo e de nuvem, e confundiu o exército egípcio.
25
Ele arrancou as rodas dos seus carros, e fez com que os conduzissem com dificuldade; de modo que os egípcios disseram: “Fujamos da face de Israel, pois o SENHOR luta por eles contra os egípcios!”
26
O SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Estenda a mão sobre o mar, para que as águas voltem sobre os egípcios, sobre os seus carros e sobre os seus cavaleiros.”
27
Moisés estendeu a mão sobre o mar, e o mar retomou a sua força ao amanhecer; e os egípcios fugiram de encontro a ele. O SENHOR precipitou os egípcios no meio do mar.
28
As águas retornaram e cobriram os carros e os cavaleiros, e todo o exército de Faraó que havia entrado atrás deles no mar. Não restou nem sequer um deles.
29
Mas os filhos de Israel caminharam em terra seca pelo meio do mar, e as águas foram como um muro para eles à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
30
Assim o SENHOR salvou Israel naquele dia da mão dos egípcios; e Israel viu os egípcios mortos na praia do mar.
31
Israel viu a grande obra que o SENHOR realizou contra os egípcios, e o povo temeu ao SENHOR; e creram no SENHOR e em seu servo Moisés.

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea.
3
Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are entangled in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.’
4
I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will follow after them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD.” They did so.
5
The king of Egypt was told that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”
6
He prepared his chariot, and took his army with him;
7
and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, with captains over all of them.
8
The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand.
9
The Egyptians pursued them. All the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon.
10
When Pharaoh came near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were very afraid. The children of Israel cried out to the LORD.
11
They said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us out of Egypt?
12
Isn’t this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
13
Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today; for you will never again see the Egyptians whom you have seen today.
14
The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still.”
15
The LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward.
16
Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. Then the children of Israel shall go into the middle of the sea on dry ground.
17
Behold, I myself will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they will go in after them. I will get myself honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.
18
The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD when I have gotten myself honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.”
19
The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them.
20
It came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel. There was the cloud and the darkness, yet it gave light by night. One didn’t come near the other all night.
21
Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22
The children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
23
The Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the middle of the sea: all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24
In the morning watch, the LORD looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army.
25
He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, “Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians!”
26
The LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”
27
Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. The LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.
28
The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.
29
But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
30
Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
31
Israel saw the great work which the LORD did to the Egyptians, and the people feared the LORD; and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.
