Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he doesn’t yet know as he ought to know.

But anyone who loves God is known by him.
- 4
Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

For though there are things that are called “gods”, whether in the heavens or on earth—as there are many “gods” and many “lords”—
- 6
yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.
- 7
However, that knowledge isn’t in all men. But some, with consciousness of an idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we don’t eat are we the worse, nor if we eat are we the better.
- 9
But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.

For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol’s temple, won’t his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Christ died.
- 12
Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.

Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forever more, that I don’t cause my brother to stumble.

Agora em relação às coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos: Sabemos que todos nós temos conhecimento. O conhecimento sopra, mas o amor se acumula.

Mas se alguém pensa que sabe alguma coisa, ele ainda não sabe como deveria saber.

Mas qualquer um que ame a Deus é conhecido por ele.

Portanto, em relação à alimentação das coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos, sabemos que nenhum ídolo é nada no mundo, e que não há outro Deus além de um só.

Pois embora haja coisas que são chamadas “deuses”, seja nos céus ou na terra - como há muitos “deuses” e muitos “senhores” -

ainda assim, para nós há um só Deus, o Pai, de quem são todas as coisas, e nós para ele; e um só Senhor, Jesus Cristo, por quem são todas as coisas, e nós vivemos através dele.

No entanto, esse conhecimento não está em todos os homens. Mas alguns, com consciência de um ídolo até agora, comem como de uma coisa sacrificada a um ídolo, e sua consciência, sendo fraca, está contaminada.

Mas a comida não nos recomendará a Deus. Pois nem se não comemos somos os piores, nem se comemos somos os melhores.

Mas tenha cuidado para que esta sua liberdade não se torne de forma alguma um obstáculo para os fracos.
- 10
Pois se um homem o vê sentado no templo de um ídolo, sua consciência, se é fraco, não será encorajada a comer coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos?
- 11
E através de seu conhecimento, aquele que é fraco perece, o irmão por cuja causa Cristo morreu.

Assim, pecando contra os irmãos, e ferindo sua consciência quando ela é fraca, você peca contra Cristo.
- 13
Portanto, se a comida fizer tropeçar meu irmão, não comerei mais carne para sempre, que eu não faça tropeçar meu irmão.
