In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him.

The LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, bands of the Syrians, bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the LORD’s word which he spoke by his servants the prophets.

Surely at the commandment of the LORD this came on Judah, to remove them out of his sight for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did,
- 4
and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD would not pardon.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

The king of Egypt didn’t come out of his land any more; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, according to all that his father had done.

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
- 11
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it,
- 12
and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon—he, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers; and the king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his reign.

He carried out from there all the treasures of the LORD’s house and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the LORD’s temple, as the LORD had said.

He carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. No one remained except the poorest people of the land.

He carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, with the king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officers, and the chief men of the land. He carried them into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

All the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths one thousand, all of them strong and fit for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
- 17
The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s father’s brother, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
- 18
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
- 20
For through the anger of the LORD, this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

Em seus dias, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, subiu, e Jeoaquim tornou-se seu servo por três anos. Depois, ele se voltou e se rebelou contra ele.

Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeoaquim, e tudo o que ele fez, não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá?

Então Jeoaquim descansou com seus pais, e Joaquim, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
- 7
O rei do Egito não saiu mais de sua terra; pois o rei da Babilônia havia tomado, desde o ribeiro do Egito até o rio Eufrates, tudo o que pertencia ao rei do Egito.

Joaquim tinha dezoito anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou em Jerusalém por três meses. O nome de sua mãe era Neústa, filha de Elnatã, de Jerusalém.

Ele fez o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR, de acordo com tudo o que seu pai havia feito.
- 10
Naquele tempo, os servos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, subiram a Jerusalém, e a cidade foi sitiada.
- 11
Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, chegou à cidade enquanto seus servos a sitiavam,
- 12
e Joaquim, o rei de Judá, saiu ao encontro do rei da Babilônia — ele, sua mãe, seus servos, seus príncipes e seus oficiais; e o rei da Babilônia o capturou no oitavo ano de seu reinado.

Ele levou dali todos os tesouros da casa do SENHOR e os tesouros da casa do rei, e despedaçou todos os utensílios de ouro que Salomão, rei de Israel, havia feito no templo do SENHOR, como o SENHOR havia dito.
- 14
Ele levou cativa toda a Jerusalém, todos os príncipes e todos os guerreiros valentes, dez mil cativos ao todo, além de todos os artesãos e ferreiros. Ninguém restou, exceto as pessoas mais pobres da terra.
- 15
Ele levou Joaquim cativo para a Babilônia, com a mãe do rei, as esposas do rei, seus oficiais e os homens principais da terra. Ele os levou em cativeiro de Jerusalém para a Babilônia.
- 16
Todos os homens valentes, sete mil ao todo, e os artesãos e ferreiros, mil ao todo, todos eles fortes e aptos para a guerra, o rei da Babilônia os levou cativos para a Babilônia.
- 17
O rei da Babilônia fez de Matanias, irmão do pai de Joaquim, rei em seu lugar, e mudou seu nome para Zedequias.
- 18
Zedequias tinha vinte e um anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Hamutal, filha de Jeremias, de Libna.
- 19
Ele fez o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR, de acordo com tudo o que Jeoaquim havia feito.
- 20
Pois, por causa da ira do SENHOR, isso aconteceu em Jerusalém e em Judá, até que ele os expulsou de sua presença. Então Zedequias rebelou-se contra o rei da Babilônia.
