Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, “Hear, Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your ears today, that you may learn them, and observe to do them.”

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
- 3
The LORD didn’t make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive today.
- 4
The LORD spoke with you face to face on the mountain out of the middle of the fire,
- 5
(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the LORD’s word; for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain) saying,
- 6
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
- 7
“You shall have no other gods before me.
- 8
“You shall not make a carved image for yourself—any likeness of what is in heaven above, or what is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
- 9
You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me
- 10
and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
- 11
“You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.
- 12
“Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you.
- 13
You shall labor six days, and do all your work;
- 14
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, in which you shall not do any work—neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates; that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

“Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God commanded you, that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

“You shall not murder.

“You shall not commit adultery.
- 19
“You shall not steal.
- 20
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
- 21
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. Neither shall you desire your neighbor’s house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”

The LORD spoke these words to all your assembly on the mountain out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice. He added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets, and gave them to me.

When you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
- 24
and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives.

Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the LORD our God’s voice any more, then we shall die.
- 26
For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived?
- 27
Go near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say, and tell us all that the LORD our God tells you; and we will hear it, and do it.”

The LORD heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me; and the LORD said to me, “I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have well said all that they have spoken.

Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

“Go tell them, ‘Return to your tents.’
- 31
But as for you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandments, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess.”

You shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you. You shall not turn away to the right hand or to the left.

You shall walk in all the way which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

Moisés chamou a todo Israel e disse-lhes: “Ouvi, Israel, os estatutos e as ordenanças que hoje vos falo aos ouvidos, para que as aprendais, e observai para as fazer”.

Yahweh, nosso Deus, fez um pacto conosco em Horeb.
- 3
Yahweh não fez este pacto com nossos pais, mas conosco, mesmo nós, que estamos todos aqui vivos hoje”.

Javé falou com você cara a cara na montanha fora do meio do incêndio,
- 5
(eu estava entre Javé e você naquela época, para lhe mostrar a palavra de Javé; pois você estava com medo por causa do incêndio, e não subiu à montanha) dizendo,
- 6
“Eu sou Yahweh, vosso Deus, que vos tirei da terra do Egito, da casa da servidão”.
- 7
“Vocês não terão outros deuses diante de mim.
- 8
“Você não deve fazer uma imagem esculpida para si mesmo - qualquer semelhança do que está no céu acima, ou do que está na terra abaixo, ou do que está nas águas abaixo da terra.
- 9
Não te curvarás diante deles, nem os servirás, pois eu, Yahweh teu Deus, sou um Deus ciumento, visitando a iniqüidade dos pais sobre os filhos e sobre a terceira e quarta geração daqueles que me odeiam
- 10
e demonstrando bondade amorosa para com milhares daqueles que me amam e guardam meus mandamentos.

“Você não usará indevidamente o nome de Javé, seu Deus; pois Javé não o considerará sem culpa quem usar indevidamente seu nome.
- 12
“Observe o dia de sábado, para mantê-lo santo, como Yahweh seu Deus lhe ordenou.
- 13
Você trabalhará seis dias e fará todo o seu trabalho;
- 14
mas o sétimo dia é um sábado para Javé seu Deus, no qual você não fará nenhum trabalho - nem você, nem seu filho, nem sua filha, nem seu servo macho, nem sua serva fêmea, nem seu boi, nem seu burro, nem qualquer um de seus animais, nem seu estranho que está dentro de suas portas; para que seu servo macho e sua serva fêmea possam descansar tão bem quanto você.

Você deve se lembrar que você foi um servo na terra do Egito, e Javé seu Deus o tirou de lá por uma mão poderosa e por um braço estendido. Portanto, Javé, vosso Deus, ordenou-vos que guardásseis o sábado.

“Honre seu pai e sua mãe, como Javé seu Deus lhe ordenou, para que seus dias sejam longos e para que possam ir bem com você na terra que Javé seu Deus lhe dá.

“Você não deve assassinar.
- 18
“Você não deve cometer adultério.
- 19
“Você não deve roubar.
- 20
“Você não prestará falso testemunho contra seu próximo.
- 21
“Você não cobiçará a esposa de seu vizinho. Nem desejará a casa de seu vizinho, seu campo, ou seu criado, ou sua criada, seu boi, ou seu burro, ou qualquer coisa que seja de seu vizinho”.

Yahweh pronunciou estas palavras a toda a sua assembléia na montanha, do meio do fogo, da nuvem e da escuridão espessa, com uma grande voz. Ele não acrescentou mais nada. Ele as escreveu em duas tábuas de pedra, e as deu a mim.

Quando ouvistes a voz do meio da escuridão, enquanto a montanha ardia de fogo, chegastes perto de mim, mesmo todos os chefes de vossas tribos, e vossos anciãos;
- 24
e dissestes: “Eis que Javé nosso Deus nos mostrou sua glória e sua grandeza, e nós ouvimos sua voz do meio do fogo”. Vimos hoje que Deus fala com o homem, e ele vive.

Agora, portanto, por que devemos morrer? Porque este grande fogo nos consumirá. Se ouvirmos mais a voz de Yahweh, nosso Deus, então morreremos.
- 26
Pois quem, de toda a carne, ouviu a voz do Deus vivo falando do meio do fogo, como nós, e viveu?
- 27
Aproxime-se, e ouça tudo o que Javé nosso Deus dirá, e nos diga tudo o que Javé nosso Deus lhe diz; e nós o ouviremos, e o faremos”.

Javé ouviu a voz de suas palavras quando você falou comigo; e Javé me disse: “Eu ouvi a voz das palavras deste povo que eles lhe falaram. Eles disseram bem tudo o que falaram”.

Oh, que houvesse tal coração neles que eles me temessem e guardassem sempre todos os meus mandamentos, para que pudesse estar bem com eles e com seus filhos para sempre!

“Vá dizer-lhes: 'Voltem para suas tendas'.
- 31
Mas quanto a você, fique aqui ao meu lado, e eu lhe direi todos os mandamentos, e os estatutos, e as ordenanças, que você lhes ensinará, para que os façam na terra que eu lhes dou para possuir”.

Portanto, você deve observar para fazer como Yahweh seu Deus lhe ordenou. Não vos desviareis para a direita nem para a esquerda.
- 33
Você caminhará em todo o caminho que Iavé seu Deus lhe ordenou, para que viva e esteja bem consigo, e para que prolongue seus dias na terra que você possuirá.
