In the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
- 3
“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Is it to inquire of me that you have come? As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “I will not be inquired of by you.”’

“Will you judge them, son of man? Will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers.
- 5
Tell them, ‘The Lord GOD says: “In the day when I chose Israel, and swore to the offspring of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, ‘I am the LORD your God;’
- 6
in that day I swore to them to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.

I said to them, ‘Each of you throw away the abominations of his eyes. Don’t defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’

“‘“But they rebelled against me and wouldn’t listen to me. They didn’t all throw away the abominations of their eyes. They also didn’t forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the middle of the land of Egypt.

But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
- 10
So I caused them to go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he will live in them.
- 12
Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
- 13
“‘“But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They didn’t walk in my statutes and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he shall live in them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.
- 14
But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.
- 15
Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands,
- 16
because they rejected my ordinances, and didn’t walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.
- 17
Nevertheless my eye spared them, and I didn’t destroy them. I didn’t make a full end of them in the wilderness.
- 18
I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers. Don’t observe their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.
- 19
I am the LORD your God. Walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and do them.
- 20
Make my Sabbaths holy. They shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’

“‘“But the children rebelled against me. They didn’t walk in my statutes, and didn’t keep my ordinances to do them, which if a man does, he shall live in them. They profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

Nevertheless I withdrew my hand and worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries,
- 24
because they had not executed my ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.
- 25
Moreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances in which they couldn’t live.
- 26
I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused all that opens the womb to pass through the fire, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.”’

“Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Moreover, in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.
- 28
For when I had brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There they also made their pleasant aroma, and there they poured out their drink offerings.

Then I said to them, ‘What does the high place where you go mean?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’
- 30
“Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? Do you play the prostitute after their abominations?
- 31
When you offer your gifts, when you make your sons pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? Should I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you!

“‘“That which comes into your mind will not be at all, in that you say, ‘We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.’
- 33
As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, I will be king over you.
- 34
I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.
- 35
I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
- 36
Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you,” says the Lord GOD.

“I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.
- 38
I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who disobey me. I will bring them out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”

“‘As for you, house of Israel, the Lord GOD says: “Go, everyone serve his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me; but you shall no more profane my holy name with your gifts and with your idols.
- 40
For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel,” says the Lord GOD, “there all the house of Israel, all of them, shall serve me in the land. There I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the first fruits of your offerings, with all your holy things.

I will accept you as a pleasant aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered. I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations.

You will know that I am the LORD when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I swore to give to your fathers.
- 43
There you will remember your ways, and all your deeds in which you have polluted yourselves. Then you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that you have committed.
- 44
You will know that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for my name’s sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, you house of Israel,” says the Lord GOD.’”

The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
- 46
“Son of man, set your face toward the south, and preach toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the south.

Tell the forest of the south, ‘Hear the LORD’s word: The Lord GOD says, “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it will devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree. The burning flame will not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north will be burned by it.

All flesh will see that I, the LORD, have kindled it. It will not be quenched.”’”

Then I said, “Ah Lord GOD! They say of me, ‘Isn’t he a speaker of parables?’”

No sétimo ano, no quinto mês, no décimo dia do mês, alguns dos anciãos de Israel vieram perguntar a Iavé, e sentaram-se diante de mim.

A palavra de Javé veio a mim, dizendo:
- 3
“Filho do homem, fala aos anciãos de Israel, e diz-lhes: 'O Senhor Javé diz: “É para me inquirir que você veio? Como eu vivo”, diz o Senhor Javé, “não serei perguntado por você”.

“Você vai julgá-los, filho do homem? Você vai julgá-los? Fazê-los conhecer as abominações de seus pais.
- 5
Diz-lhes: 'O Senhor Javé diz: “No dia em que escolhi Israel, e jurei à descendência da casa de Jacó, e me dei a conhecer a eles na terra do Egito, quando lhes jurei, dizendo: 'Eu sou Javé, vosso Deus';
- 6
naquele dia jurei-lhes que os tiraria da terra do Egito para uma terra que eu havia procurado, fluindo com leite e mel, que é a glória de todas as terras.

Eu lhes disse: 'Cada um de vocês jogue fora as abominações de seus olhos'. Não se contaminem com os ídolos do Egito”. Eu sou Yahweh, vosso Deus”.

“““Mas eles se rebelaram contra mim e não me quiseram ouvir. Nem todos jogaram fora as abominações de seus olhos. Eles também não abandonaram os ídolos do Egito. Então eu disse que derramaria minha ira sobre eles, para cumprir minha ira contra eles no meio da terra do Egito.

Mas trabalhei por meu nome, para que não fosse profanado aos olhos das nações entre as quais se encontravam, a cujos olhos me fiz conhecer ao trazê-los para fora da terra do Egito.

Assim, fiz com que saíssem da terra do Egito e os levei para o deserto.
- 11
Dei-lhes meus estatutos e mostrei-lhes minhas ordenanças, que se um homem o fizer, viverá nelas.

Além disso, também lhes dei meus sábados, para serem um sinal entre mim e eles, para que soubessem que eu sou Yahweh que os santifica.

“““Mas a casa de Israel se rebelou contra mim no deserto. Eles não entraram em meus estatutos e rejeitaram minhas ordenanças, as quais, se um homem as cumprir, viverá nelas. Eles profanaram muito os meus sábados. Então eu disse que derramaria minha ira sobre eles no deserto, para consumi-los.

Mas trabalhei por meu nome, para que não fosse profanado aos olhos das nações, a cujos olhos os fiz sair.
- 15
Além disso, também lhes jurei no deserto que não os traria para a terra que lhes havia dado, que mana leite e mel, que é a glória de todas as terras,
- 16
porque rejeitaram minhas ordenanças, não andaram em meus estatutos e profanaram meus sábados; pois seu coração foi atrás de seus ídolos.

Nevertheless meu olho os poupou, e eu não os destruí. Eu não fiz um fim completo deles no deserto.
- 18
Eu disse a seus filhos no deserto: 'Não andem nos estatutos de seus pais'. Não observem as ordenanças deles nem se sujem com os ídolos deles.
- 19
Eu sou Yahweh, vosso Deus. Caminhe em meus estatutos, cumpra minhas ordenanças e faça-as.
- 20
Santificai meus sábados. Eles serão um sinal entre mim e vocês, para que saibam que eu sou Yahweh, vosso Deus”.

“““Mas as crianças se rebelaram contra mim. Eles não entraram em meus estatutos e não cumpriram minhas ordenanças para fazê-los, o que se um homem o fizer, ele viverá neles. Eles profanaram meus sábados. Então eu disse que derramaria minha ira sobre eles, para cumprir minha ira contra eles no deserto.

Nevertheless Retirei minha mão e trabalhei em nome do meu nome, para que não fosse profanada aos olhos das nações, aos olhos de quem os trouxe para fora.

Além disso, jurei-lhes no deserto, que os dispersaria entre as nações e os dispersaria pelos países,
- 24
porque eles não haviam executado minhas ordenanças, mas haviam rejeitado meus estatutos, e haviam profanado meus sábados, e seus olhos estavam atrás dos ídolos de seus pais.

Além disso, também lhes dei estatutos que não eram bons, e ordenanças nas quais eles não podiam viver.
- 26
Eu os poluí em seus próprios dons, na medida em que fizeram com que tudo o que abre o ventre passasse pelo fogo, para que eu pudesse deixá-los desolados, até o fim, para que eles soubessem que eu sou Yahweh”.

“ Portanto, filho do homem, fale com a casa de Israel e lhes diga: 'O Senhor Javé diz: “Além disso, nisto seus pais me blasfemaram, pois cometeram uma transgressão contra mim.

Pois quando os trouxe para a terra que jurei dar-lhes, então eles viram cada colina alta e cada árvore grossa, e ali ofereceram seus sacrifícios, e ali apresentaram a provocação de sua oferta. Ali também fizeram seu aroma agradável, e ali derramaram suas ofertas de bebida.

Então eu lhes disse: “O que significa o lugar alto onde você vai?”. Então seu nome é chamado Bamah até hoje”.

“Portanto, diga à casa de Israel: 'O Senhor Javé diz: “Vocês se poluem no caminho de seus pais? Vocês se fazem de prostitutas depois de suas abominações?
- 31
Quando vocês oferecem seus dons, quando fazem seus filhos passar pelo fogo, vocês se poluem com todos os seus ídolos até os dias de hoje? Devo ser consultado por vocês, casa de Israel? Como eu vivo, diz o Senhor Javé, não serei consultado por vocês!

“” “O que lhe vem à mente não será de forma alguma, no sentido de que você diz: “Seremos como as nações, como as famílias dos países, para servir madeira e pedra”.

Enquanto eu viver”, diz o Senhor Javé, “certamente com uma mão poderosa, com um braço estendido e com a ira derramada, eu serei rei sobre vós”.

Eu vos tirarei dos povos, e vos congregarei dos países onde estais espalhados com uma mão poderosa, com um braço estendido, e com a ira derramada”.

Eu os levarei ao deserto dos povos, e lá entrarei em juízo com vocês face a face.
- 36
Assim como entrei em juízo com seus pais no deserto da terra do Egito, também eu entrarei em juízo com você”, diz o Senhor Javé.

“Farei com que você passe debaixo da vara, e o levarei ao vínculo do pacto”.
- 38
“Expurgarei dentre vós os rebeldes e aqueles que me desobedecerem”. Eu os tirarei da terra onde vivem, mas eles não entrarão na terra de Israel. Então vocês saberão que eu sou Yahweh”.

“'Quanto a você, casa de Israel, o Senhor Javé diz: “Vá, todos servem a seus ídolos, e daqui em diante também, se não me ouvirdes; mas não profanareis mais meu santo nome com vossos dons e com vossos ídolos.
- 40
Pois em minha montanha santa, na montanha do alto de Israel”, diz o Senhor Javé, “ali toda a casa de Israel, todos eles, me servirão na terra”. Ali as aceitarei, e ali requererei suas ofertas e as primícias de suas ofertas, com todas as suas coisas santas”.

Eu os aceitarei como um aroma agradável quando os tirar dos povos e os recolher dos países nos quais foram dispersos. Serei santificado em vocês, aos olhos das nações.

Saberão que eu sou Iavé quando os levar para a terra de Israel, para o país que jurei dar a seus pais.

Lá vocês se lembrarão de seus caminhos, e de todos os seus atos nos quais vocês se poluíram. Então, odiar-vos-eis a vós mesmos por todos os vossos males que cometestes.

Sabereis que eu sou Yahweh, quando eu tiver tratado convosco em meu nome, não de acordo com vossos maus caminhos, nem de acordo com vossos atos corruptos, vossa casa de Israel”, diz o Senhor Yahweh”. A palavra de

Yahweh veio até mim, dizendo:
- 46
“Filho do homem, ponha seu rosto para o sul, pregue para o sul e profetize contra a floresta do campo no sul”.

Tell a floresta do sul, 'Ouve a palavra de Javé: O Senhor Javé diz: “Eis que eu acenderei um fogo em ti, e ele devorará toda árvore verde em ti, e toda árvore seca”. A chama ardente não se apagará, e todas as faces do sul para o norte serão queimadas por ela.

Then Eu disse: “Ah Senhor Yahweh! Dizem de mim: 'Ele não é um orador de parábolas?'”
