In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the LORD’s word came to me, saying,

“Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.

Speak and say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the middle of his rivers, that has said, ‘My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.’

I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will make the fish of your rivers stick to your scales. I will bring you up out of the middle of your rivers, with all the fish of your rivers which stick to your scales.

I’ll cast you out into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers. You’ll fall on the open field. You won’t be brought together or gathered. I have given you for food to the animals of the earth and to the birds of the sky.

“‘“All the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.
- 7
When they took hold of you by your hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders. When they leaned on you, you broke and paralyzed all of their thighs.”

“‘Therefore the Lord GOD says: “Behold, I will bring a sword on you, and will cut off man and animal from you.
- 9
The land of Egypt will be a desolation and a waste. Then they will know that I am the LORD. “‘“Because he has said, ‘The river is mine, and I have made it,’

therefore, behold, I am against you and against your rivers. I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from the tower of Seveneh even to the border of Ethiopia.

No foot of man will pass through it, nor will any animal foot pass through it. It won’t be inhabited for forty years.
- 12
I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the middle of the countries that are desolate. Her cities among the cities that are laid waste will be a desolation forty years. I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.”

“‘For the Lord GOD says: “At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples where they were scattered.
- 14
I will reverse the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their birth. There they will be a lowly kingdom.
- 15
It will be the lowest of the kingdoms. It won’t lift itself up above the nations any more. I will diminish them so that they will no longer rule over the nations.

It will no longer be the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing iniquity to memory, when they turn to look after them. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD.”’”

It came to pass in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
- 18
“Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyre. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was worn; yet he had no wages, nor did his army, from Tyre, for the service that he had served against it.

Therefore the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He will carry off her multitude, take her plunder, and take her prey. That will be the wages for his army.

I have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he served, because they worked for me,’ says the Lord GOD.

“In that day I will cause a horn to sprout for the house of Israel, and I will open your mouth among them. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”

No décimo ano, no décimo mês, no décimo segundo dia do mês, a palavra do SENHOR veio a mim, dizendo:

“Filho do homem, volte o seu rosto contra o Faraó, rei do Egito, e profetize contra ele e contra todo o Egito.

Fale e diga: ‘Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: “Eis que eu sou contra você, Faraó, rei do Egito, o grande monstro que está deitado no meio dos seus rios, que disse: ‘O meu rio é meu, e eu o fiz para mim mesmo.’

Porei anzóis em suas mandíbulas, e farei com que os peixes dos seus rios grudem nas suas escamas. Eu o tirarei do meio dos seus rios, com todos os peixes dos seus rios que grudarem nas suas escamas.

Eu o lançarei no deserto, você e todos os peixes dos seus rios. Você cairá em campo aberto. Você não será recolhido nem ajuntado. Eu o dei como alimento aos animais da terra e às aves do céu.

“‘“Todos os habitantes do Egito saberão que eu sou o SENHOR, porque eles têm sido um cajado de junco para a casa de Israel.
- 7
Quando eles o pegaram com a mão, você se quebrou e rasgou todos os ombros deles. Quando eles se apoiaram em você, você se quebrou e paralisou todas as coxas deles.”

“‘Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: “Eis que trarei uma espada sobre você, e eliminarei de você homens e animais.
- 9
A terra do Egito se tornará em desolação e ruína. Então eles saberão que eu sou o SENHOR. “‘“Porque ele disse: ‘O rio é meu, e eu o fiz’,
- 10
portanto, eis que eu sou contra você e contra os seus rios. Farei da terra do Egito uma completa ruína e desolação, desde a torre de Sevene até a fronteira da Etiópia.
- 11
Nenhum pé de homem passará por ela, nem pé de animal passará por ela. Ela não será habitada por quarenta anos.
- 12
Farei da terra do Egito uma desolação no meio dos países que estão desolados. Suas cidades, entre as cidades que estão devastadas, serão uma desolação por quarenta anos. Espalharei os egípcios entre as nações, e os dispersarei pelos países.”

“‘Pois assim diz o Senhor DEUS: “Ao fim de quarenta anos, eu ajuntarei os egípcios dentre os povos por onde foram espalhados.
- 14
Reverterei o cativeiro do Egito, e farei com que retornem à terra de Patros, à terra do seu nascimento. Ali eles serão um reino humilde.
- 15
Será o mais humilde dos reinos. Não se exaltará mais sobre as nações. Eu os diminuirei para que não dominem mais sobre as nações.
- 16
Não será mais a confiança da casa de Israel, trazendo a iniquidade à memória, quando eles se virarem para segui-los. Então eles saberão que eu sou o Senhor DEUS.”’”

Aconteceu no vigésimo sétimo ano, no primeiro mês, no primeiro dia do mês, que a palavra do SENHOR veio a mim, dizendo:

“Filho do homem, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, fez com que o seu exército prestasse um grande serviço contra Tiro. Toda cabeça ficou calva, e todo ombro ficou esfolado; contudo, ele não teve salário, nem o seu exército, da parte de Tiro, pelo serviço que prestou contra ela.

Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: ‘Eis que darei a terra do Egito a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia. Ele levará a sua multidão, tomará o seu despojo e levará a sua presa. Esse será o salário para o seu exército.
- 20
Eu lhe dei a terra do Egito como pagamento pelo qual ele serviu, porque eles trabalharam para mim’, diz o Senhor DEUS.
- 21
“Naquele dia, farei brotar um chifre para a casa de Israel, e abrirei a sua boca no meio deles. Então eles saberão que eu sou o SENHOR.”
