Hebrews 1
The letter opens without greeting or sender, plunging straight into a claim: God once spoke in fragments through prophets, but now speaks through a Son who made the worlds and sat down at his right hand. From verse 5 onward the writer stacks seven Old Testament quotations to prove the Son outranks every angel. Watch how the argument runs entirely through cited scripture rather than the author's own assertions. The closing question in verse 13 — which angel was ever told to sit at God's right hand? — leaves the angels recast as ministering spirits.

God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.

His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, who, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,

having become as much better than the angels as the more excellent name he has inherited is better than theirs.

For to which of the angels did he say at any time, “You are my Son. Today I have become your father?” and again, “I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son?”

When he again brings in the firstborn into the world he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him.”

Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame of fire.”

But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom.

You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.”

And, “You, Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands.

They will perish, but you continue. They all will grow old like a garment does.
- 12
You will roll them up like a mantle, and they will be changed; but you are the same. Your years won’t fail.”

But which of the angels has he told at any time, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?”

Aren’t they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

Y ciertamente de los ángeles dice: El que hace á sus ángeles espíritus, y á sus ministros llama de fuego.

Mas al hijo: Tu trono, oh Dios, por el siglo del siglo; vara de equidad la vara de tu reino;

Has amado la justicia, y aborrecido la maldad; por lo cual te ungió Dios, el Dios tuyo, con óleo de alegría más que á tus compañeros.

Y: Tú, oh Señor, en el principio fundaste la tierra; y los cielos son obras de tus manos:

Ellos perecerán, mas tú eres permanente; y todos ellos se envejecerán como una vestidura;

Y como un vestido los envolverás, y serán mudados; empero tú eres el mismo, y tus años no acabarán.

Pues, ¿á cuál de los ángeles dijo jamás: Siéntate á mi diestra, hasta que ponga á tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies?

¿No son todos espíritus administradores, enviados para servicio á favor de los que serán herederos de salud?
Why angels at all
The angel comparison is not random. In verse 7 they are merely "winds" and "a flame of fire," but the Son is addressed as enthroned (v. 8) and as the Lord who laid earth's foundation (v. 10). The contrast sets up chapter 2's warning: if a message delivered by angels carried weight, a salvation spoken by the Son carries more.
