Isaiah 25
The earth-shaking judgment of chapter 24 breaks into song. The prophet addresses God directly — "you are my God. I will exalt you!" (v.1) — praising him for turning a fortified city into a permanent ruin (v.2) while being a stronghold to the poor and a refuge from the storm (v.4). The surprise is who benefits: the very nations once judged now fear and glorify him. Watch the imagery shift from siege to a banquet table.

The LORD, you are my God. I will exalt you! I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago, in complete faithfulness and truth.

For you have made a city into a heap, a fortified city into a ruin, a palace of strangers to be no city. It will never be built.

Therefore a strong people will glorify you. A city of awesome nations will fear you.

For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the blast of the dreaded ones is like a storm against the wall.

As the heat in a dry place you will bring down the noise of strangers; as the heat by the shade of a cloud, the song of the dreaded ones will be brought low.

In this mountain, the LORD of Armies will make all peoples a feast of choice meat, a feast of choice wines, of choice meat full of marrow, of well refined choice wines.

He will destroy in this mountain the surface of the covering that covers all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

He has swallowed up death forever! The Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces. He will take the reproach of his people away from off all the earth, for the LORD has spoken it.

It shall be said in that day, “Behold, this is our God! We have waited for him, and he will save us! This is the LORD! We have waited for him. We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation!”

For the LORD’s hand will rest in this mountain. Moab will be trodden down in his place, even like straw is trodden down in the water of the dunghill.

He will spread out his hands in the middle of it, like one who swims spreads out hands to swim, but his pride will be humbled together with the craft of his hands.

He has brought the high fortress of your walls down, laid low, and brought to the ground, even to the dust.

Ó SENHOR, tu és o meu Deus. Eu te exaltarei! Louvarei o teu nome, pois fizeste coisas maravilhosas, coisas planejadas há muito tempo, em completa fidelidade e verdade.

Pois transformaste a cidade em um montão de pedras, a cidade fortificada em ruínas, o palácio dos estrangeiros para que não seja mais cidade. Nunca mais será construída.

Portanto, um povo forte te glorificará. Uma cidade de nações temíveis te temerá.

Pois tens sido uma fortaleza para o pobre, uma fortaleza para o necessitado em sua angústia, um refúgio contra a tempestade, uma sombra contra o calor, quando o sopro dos temíveis é como uma tempestade contra o muro.

Como o calor em um lugar seco, tu abaterás o tumulto dos estrangeiros; como o calor pela sombra de uma nuvem, o cântico dos temíveis será abatido.

Neste monte, o SENHOR dos Exércitos fará para todos os povos um banquete de carnes finas, um banquete de vinhos finos, de carnes finas cheias de tutano, de vinhos finos bem refinados.

Ele destruirá neste monte a superfície da cobertura que cobre todos os povos, e o véu que está estendido sobre todas as nações.

Ele engoliu a morte para sempre! O Senhor DEUS enxugará as lágrimas de todos os rostos. Ele tirará o opróbrio do seu povo de sobre toda a terra, pois o SENHOR o disse.

Naquele dia se dirá: “Eis que este é o nosso Deus! Nós esperamos por ele, e ele nos salvará! Este é o SENHOR! Nós esperamos por ele. Nós nos alegraremos e exultaremos na sua salvação!”

Pois a mão do SENHOR repousará neste monte. Moabe será pisoteado em seu lugar, assim como a palha é pisoteada na água do monturo.

Ele estenderá as suas mãos no meio disso, como o nadador estende as mãos para nadar, mas o seu orgulho será humilhado juntamente com a artimanha das suas mãos.

Ele derrubou a alta fortaleza dos seus muros, rebaixou-a e a trouxe por terra, até o pó.
A feast where death is swallowed
On "this mountain" the LORD spreads a feast of rich food and aged wine for all peoples (v.6), then does something no banquet could: he tears off the veil of mourning over every nation and "has swallowed up death forever" (v.8), wiping every tear away.
The chapter keeps both notes at once — exultant deliverance and stark judgment. In the same breath that celebrates salvation, Moab is trodden down like straw in a dung-pit (v.10), its pride humbled despite all its clever swimming to stay afloat (v.11).
