Isaiah 35
Right after Edom's smoking waste, the desert itself rejoices and blossoms like a rose (v.1). The reversal is total: burning sand becomes a pool, the haunts of jackals sprout reeds, and Lebanon's glory is handed to the wilderness. Weak hands are strengthened, fearful hearts told 'Be strong! Don't be afraid' (vv.3-4). Then the bodies heal—blind eyes open, deaf ears unstop, the lame leap, the mute sing (vv.5-6). Watch for the road: a 'Holy Way' across the desert that no lion threatens and no unclean traveler can walk.

The wilderness and the dry land will be glad. The desert will rejoice and blossom like a rose.

It will blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing. Lebanon’s glory will be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the LORD’s glory, the excellence of our God.

Strengthen the weak hands, and make the feeble knees firm.

Tell those who have a fearful heart, “Be strong! Don’t be afraid! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He will come and save you.

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.

Then the lame man will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing; for waters will break out in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.

The burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. Grass with reeds and rushes will be in the habitation of jackals, where they lay.

A highway will be there, a road, and it will be called “The Holy Way”. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it will be for those who walk in the Way. Wicked fools shall not go there.

No lion will be there, nor will any ravenous animal go up on it. They will not be found there; but the redeemed will walk there.

Then the LORD’s ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”

A areia ardente se tornará um lago, e a terra sedenta, em mananciais de água. Haverá erva com canas e juncos na habitação dos chacais, onde eles se deitavam.

Haverá ali uma estrada, um caminho, e será chamado “O Caminho Santo”. O impuro não passará por ele, mas será para aqueles que andam no Caminho. Os tolos perversos não andarão por lá.

Nenhum leão estará lá, nem qualquer animal feroz subirá nela. Eles não serão encontrados lá; mas os redimidos andarão por lá.

Então os resgatados do SENHOR retornarão, e virão a Sião com cânticos; e alegria eterna estará sobre as suas cabeças. Eles alcançarão regozijo e alegria, e a tristeza e o gemido fugirão.”
A highway built only for the redeemed
Verses 8-10 lay a single road through the transformed wilderness. It is so safe that not even a foolish wanderer can lose the way, and no predator lurks on it. The hazards of the desert—beasts and getting lost—are precisely the ones removed.
The chapter closes with the ransomed of the LORD returning to Zion with singing, everlasting joy on their heads, while sorrow and sighing flee. Placed against chapter 34's irreversible ruin of Edom, this is the deliberate mirror image: one land made forever dead, the other forever glad.
