Listen, islands, to me. Listen, you peoples, from afar: the LORD has called me from the womb; from the inside of my mother, he has mentioned my name.

He has made my mouth like a sharp sword. He has hidden me in the shadow of his hand. He has made me a polished shaft. He has kept me close in his quiver.

He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
- 4
But I said, “I have labored in vain. I have spent my strength in vain for nothing; yet surely the justice due to me is with the LORD, and my reward with my God.”

Now the LORD, he who formed me from the womb to be his servant, says to bring Jacob again to him, and to gather Israel to him, for I am honorable in the LORD’s eyes, and my God has become my strength.

Indeed, he says, “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give you as a light to the nations, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.”

The LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, says to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and rise up, princes, and they shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

The LORD says, “I have answered you in an acceptable time. I have helped you in a day of salvation. I will preserve you and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage,

saying to those who are bound, ‘Come out!’; to those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves!’ “They shall feed along the paths, and their pasture shall be on all treeless heights.

They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them, for he who has mercy on them will lead them. He will guide them by springs of water.

I will make all my mountains a road, and my highways shall be exalted.
- 12
Behold, these shall come from afar, and behold, these from the north and from the west, and these from the land of Sinim.”

Sing, heavens, and be joyful, earth! Break out into singing, mountains! For the LORD has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted.

But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.”

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you!

Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. Your walls are continually before me.
- 17
Your children hurry. Your destroyers and those who devastated you will leave you.
- 18
Lift up your eyes all around, and see: all these gather themselves together, and come to you. As I live,” says the LORD, “you shall surely clothe yourself with them all as with an ornament, and dress yourself with them, like a bride.

“For, as for your waste and your desolate places, and your land that has been destroyed, surely now that land will be too small for the inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up will be far away.

The children of your bereavement will say in your ears, ‘This place is too small for me. Give me a place to live in.’
- 21
Then you will say in your heart, ‘Who has conceived these for me, since I have been bereaved of my children and am alone, an exile, and wandering back and forth? Who has brought these up? Behold, I was left alone. Where were these?’”

The Lord GOD says, “Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and lift up my banner to the peoples. They shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.

Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; and those who wait for me won’t be disappointed.”

Shall the plunder be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives be delivered?

But the LORD says, “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the plunder retrieved from the fierce, for I will contend with him who contends with you and I will save your children.
- 26
I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they will be drunk on their own blood, as with sweet wine. Then all flesh shall know that I, the LORD, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Ouçam-me, ilhas. Escutem, povos de longe: o SENHOR me chamou desde o ventre; desde o interior de minha mãe, ele mencionou o meu nome.

Ele fez a minha boca como uma espada afiada. Ele me escondeu na sombra de sua mão. Ele me fez uma flecha polida. Ele me guardou em sua aljava.

Ele me disse: “Você é meu servo, Israel, em quem serei glorificado.”

Mas eu disse: “Tenho trabalhado em vão. Gastei a minha força em vão e por nada; contudo, certamente a justiça que me é devida está com o SENHOR, e a minha recompensa com o meu Deus.”

Agora diz o SENHOR, aquele que me formou desde o ventre para ser o seu servo, para trazer Jacó de volta a ele, e para reunir Israel a ele, pois sou honrado aos olhos do SENHOR, e o meu Deus se tornou a minha força.

De fato, ele diz: “É coisa muito pequena que você seja meu servo para levantar as tribos de Jacó, e restaurar os preservados de Israel. Eu também o darei como luz para as nações, para que você seja a minha salvação até os confins da terra.”

O SENHOR, o Redentor de Israel, e o seu Santo, diz àquele a quem o homem despreza, àquele a quem a nação abomina, a um servo de governantes: “Reis verão e se levantarão, príncipes, e eles adorarão, por causa do SENHOR, que é fiel, o Santo de Israel, que o escolheu.”

O SENHOR diz: “Eu respondi a você em um tempo aceitável. Eu o ajudei em um dia de salvação. Eu o preservarei e o darei por aliança do povo, para restaurar a terra, para fazê-los herdar as heranças desoladas,

dizendo aos que estão presos: ‘Saiam!’; aos que estão nas trevas: ‘Apareçam!’ “Eles se apascentarão junto aos caminhos, e o seu pasto estará em todas as colinas desnudas.
- 10
Eles não terão fome nem sede; nem o calor nem o sol os ferirá, pois aquele que tem misericórdia deles os guiará. Ele os conduzirá a fontes de água.

Farei de todos os meus montes um caminho, e as minhas estradas serão elevadas.
- 12
Eis que estes virão de longe, e eis que estes do norte e do oeste, e estes da terra de Sinim.”

Cantem, céus, e alegre-se, terra! Rompam em cânticos, montes! Pois o SENHOR consolou o seu povo, e terá compaixão dos seus aflitos.

Mas Sião disse: “O SENHOR me desamparou, e o Senhor se esqueceu de mim.”
- 15
“Pode uma mulher esquecer-se da criança que amamenta, a ponto de não se compadecer do filho do seu ventre? Sim, estas podem se esquecer, mas eu não me esquecerei de você!

Eis que eu gravei você nas palmas das minhas mãos. Seus muros estão continuamente diante de mim.

Seus filhos se apressam. Seus destruidores e aqueles que a devastaram partirão de você.
- 18
Levante os seus olhos ao redor, e veja: todos estes se reúnem e vêm até você. Tão certo como eu vivo”, diz o SENHOR, “você certamente se vestirá de todos eles como um ornamento, e se enfeitará com eles, como uma noiva.

“Pois, quanto aos seus lugares devastados e desolados, e à sua terra que foi destruída, certamente agora essa terra será pequena demais para os habitantes, e aqueles que a devoraram estarão longe.
- 20
Os filhos do seu luto dirão aos seus ouvidos: ‘Este lugar é pequeno demais para mim. Dê-me um lugar para morar.’
- 21
Então você dirá em seu coração: ‘Quem gerou estes para mim, já que fui privada dos meus filhos e sou solitária, exilada, e ando errante de um lado para outro? Quem os criou? Eis que eu fui deixada sozinha. Onde estavam estes?’”

O Senhor DEUS diz: “Eis que levantarei a minha mão para as nações, e erguerei a minha bandeira para os povos. Eles trarão os seus filhos no colo, e as suas filhas serão carregadas nos ombros.
- 23
Reis serão os seus pais adotivos, e as suas rainhas, as suas amas de leite. Eles se prostrarão diante de você com o rosto em terra, e lamberão o pó dos seus pés. Então você saberá que eu sou o SENHOR; e aqueles que esperam em mim não ficarão decepcionados.”

Acaso se pode tirar o despojo do valente, ou os cativos legítimos podem ser libertos?

Mas o SENHOR diz: “Até mesmo os cativos do valente serão tirados, e o despojo será resgatado do feroz, pois eu contenderei com aquele que contende com você, e eu salvarei os seus filhos.
- 26
Alimentarei os que a oprimem com a sua própria carne; e eles se embriagarão com o seu próprio sangue, como com vinho doce. Então toda a carne saberá que eu, o SENHOR, sou o seu Salvador e o seu Redentor, o Poderoso de Jacó.”
