“Sing, barren, you who didn’t give birth! Break out into singing, and cry aloud, you who didn’t travail with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife,” says the LORD.

“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your habitations; don’t spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.

For you will spread out on the right hand and on the left; and your offspring will possess the nations and settle in desolate cities.

“Don’t be afraid, for you will not be ashamed. Don’t be confounded, for you will not be disappointed. For you will forget the shame of your youth. You will remember the reproach of your widowhood no more.

For your Maker is your husband; the LORD of Armies is his name. The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He will be called the God of the whole earth.

For the LORD has called you as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off,” says your God.

“For a small moment I have forsaken you, but I will gather you with great mercies.
- 8
In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting loving kindness I will have mercy on you,” says the LORD your Redeemer.

“For this is like the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah will no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.
- 10
For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed, but my loving kindness will not depart from you, and my covenant of peace will not be removed,” says the LORD who has mercy on you.

“You afflicted, tossed with storms, and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in beautiful colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires.
- 12
I will make your pinnacles of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.
- 13
All your children will be taught by the LORD, and your children’s peace will be great.

You will be established in righteousness. You will be far from oppression, for you will not be afraid, and far from terror, for it shall not come near you.

Behold, they may gather together, but not by me. Whoever gathers together against you will fall because of you.

“Behold, I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame, and forges a weapon for his work; and I have created the destroyer to destroy.
- 17
No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the LORD’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,” says the LORD.

“Cante, ó estéril, você que não deu à luz! Irrompa em canto e grite de alegria, você que não sentiu dores de parto! Porque mais são os filhos da mulher desolada do que os filhos da mulher casada”, diz o SENHOR.

“Amplie o espaço da sua tenda, e que se estendam as cortinas das suas habitações; não economize; alongue as suas cordas e firme as suas estacas.

Pois você se expandirá para a direita e para a esquerda; e a sua descendência possuirá as nações e povoará as cidades desoladas.

“Não tenha medo, pois você não será envergonhada. Não se sinta confundida, pois você não será decepcionada. Pois você se esquecerá da vergonha da sua juventude. E não se lembrará mais da desonra da sua viuvez.

Pois o seu Criador é o seu marido; o SENHOR dos Exércitos é o seu nome. O Santo de Israel é o seu Redentor. Ele será chamado o Deus de toda a terra.

Pois o SENHOR a chamou como a uma esposa abandonada e aflita de espírito, como a uma esposa da juventude, quando é rejeitada”, diz o seu Deus.

“Por um breve momento eu a abandonei, mas com grandes misericórdias eu a ajuntarei.
- 8
Em ira transbordante, escondi o meu rosto de você por um momento, mas com eterna bondade eu terei misericórdia de você”, diz o SENHOR, o seu Redentor.

“Pois isso é para mim como as águas de Noé; pois assim como jurei que as águas de Noé não cobririam mais a terra, assim jurei que não me irarei mais contra você, nem a repreenderei.
- 10
Pois os montes podem se retirar, e as colinas serem removidas, mas a minha bondade não se retirará de você, e a minha aliança de paz não será removida”, diz o SENHOR, que tem misericórdia de você.

“Ó aflita, açoitada por tempestades e não consolada, eis que assentarei as suas pedras em cores belas, e lançarei os seus alicerces com safiras.
- 12
Farei os seus pináculos de rubis, as suas portas de joias cintilantes, e todas as suas muralhas de pedras preciosas.
- 13
Todos os seus filhos serão ensinados pelo SENHOR, e grande será a paz dos seus filhos.
- 14
Em justiça você será estabelecida. Você estará longe da opressão, pois não terá medo, e longe do terror, pois ele não chegará perto de você.
- 15
Eis que eles poderão se reunir, mas não por mim. Quem se reunir contra você, cairá por sua causa.

“Eis que eu criei o ferreiro que sopra as brasas no fogo, e forja uma arma para o seu trabalho; e eu criei o destruidor para destruir.
- 17
Nenhuma arma forjada contra você prevalecerá; e você condenará toda língua que se levantar contra você em julgamento. Esta é a herança dos servos do SENHOR, e a sua justiça procede de mim”, diz o SENHOR.
