Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign. He reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

For through the LORD’s anger this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it round about.

So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
- 6
In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled, and went out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden. Now the Chaldeans were against the city all around. The men of war went toward the Arabah,

but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he pronounced judgment on him.
- 10
The king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. He also killed all the princes of Judah in Riblah.

He put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison until the day of his death.

Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, who stood before the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem.

He burned the LORD’s house, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, he burned with fire.
- 14
All the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down all the walls of Jerusalem all around.
- 15
Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the poorest of the people, and the rest of the people who were left in the city, and those who fell away, who defected to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poorest of the land to be vineyard keepers and farmers.
- 17
The Chaldeans broke the pillars of bronze that were in the LORD’s house and the bases and the bronze sea that were in the LORD’s house in pieces, and carried all of their bronze to Babylon.
- 18
They also took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the basins, the spoons, and all the vessels of bronze with which they ministered.
- 19
The captain of the guard took away the cups, the fire pans, the basins, the pots, the lamp stands, the spoons, and the bowls; that which was of gold, as gold, and that which was of silver, as silver.

They took the two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve bronze bulls that were under the bases, which King Solomon had made for the LORD’s house. The bronze of all these vessels was without weight.

As for the pillars, the height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits; and a line of twelve cubits encircled it; and its thickness was four fingers. It was hollow.
- 22
A capital of bronze was on it; and the height of the one capital was five cubits, with network and pomegranates on the capital all around, all of bronze. The second pillar also had the same, with pomegranates.

There were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides; all the pomegranates were one hundred on the network all around.

The captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold,
- 25
and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and seven men of those who saw the king’s face, who were found in the city; and the scribe of the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the middle of the city.

Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.

The king of Babylon struck them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.
- 28
This is the number of the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year, three thousand twenty-three Jews;

in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty-two persons;
- 30
in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty-five people. All the people numbered four thousand six hundred.

In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and released him from prison.

He spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,
- 33
and changed his prison garments. Jehoiachin ate bread before him continually all the days of his life.

For his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him by the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

Zedequias tinha vinte e um anos de idade quando começou a reinar. Ele reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Hamutal, filha de Jeremias, de Libna.

No nono ano do seu reinado, no décimo mês, no décimo dia do mês, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, marchou contra Jerusalém com todo o seu exército. Eles acamparam contra ela e construíram rampas de cerco ao seu redor.

Assim, a cidade ficou sitiada até o décimo primeiro ano do rei Zedequias.

No quarto mês, no nono dia do mês, a fome era tão severa na cidade que não havia pão para o povo da terra.

Então, uma brecha foi feita na cidade, e todos os homens de guerra fugiram, saindo da cidade de noite pelo caminho da porta entre os dois muros, que ficava perto do jardim do rei. Ora, os caldeus cercavam a cidade por todos os lados. Os homens de guerra foram em direção à Arabá,

mas o exército dos caldeus perseguiu o rei e alcançou Zedequias nas planícies de Jericó; e todo o seu exército se dispersou, abandonando-o.

Então eles prenderam o rei e o levaram ao rei da Babilônia, em Ribla, na terra de Hamate; e ele pronunciou a sentença contra ele.
- 10
O rei da Babilônia matou os filhos de Zedequias diante dos seus olhos. Ele também matou todos os príncipes de Judá em Ribla.
- 11
Ele furou os olhos de Zedequias; e o rei da Babilônia o prendeu com grilhões, o levou para a Babilônia e o colocou na prisão até o dia da sua morte.
- 12
Ora, no quinto mês, no décimo dia do mês, que era o décimo nono ano do rei Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, que servia diante do rei da Babilônia, entrou em Jerusalém.

Ele incendiou a casa do SENHOR e a casa do rei; e todas as casas de Jerusalém, até mesmo todas as casas grandes, ele queimou com fogo.
- 14
Todo o exército dos caldeus, que estava com o capitão da guarda, derrubou todos os muros ao redor de Jerusalém.
- 15
Então Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, levou cativos alguns dos mais pobres do povo, e o restante do povo que havia sido deixado na cidade, e os desertores que haviam se rendido ao rei da Babilônia, e o restante da multidão.
- 16
Mas Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, deixou alguns dos mais pobres da terra para serem vinhateiros e lavradores.
- 17
Os caldeus quebraram em pedaços as colunas de bronze que estavam na casa do SENHOR, e os suportes, e o mar de bronze que estavam na casa do SENHOR, e levaram todo o bronze deles para a Babilônia.
- 18
Eles também levaram as panelas, as pás, os apagadores, as bacias, as colheres e todos os utensílios de bronze com os quais eles ministravam.
- 19
O capitão da guarda levou os copos, os incensários, as bacias, as panelas, os candelabros, as colheres e as tigelas; o que era de ouro, como ouro, e o que era de prata, como prata.
- 20
Eles levaram as duas colunas, o único mar e os doze touros de bronze que estavam debaixo dos suportes, que o rei Salomão havia feito para a casa do SENHOR. O peso do bronze de todos esses utensílios era incalculável.
- 21
Quanto às colunas, a altura de uma coluna era de dezoito côvados; e um fio de doze côvados a cercava; e a sua espessura era de quatro dedos. Ela era oca.
- 22
Havia sobre ela um capitel de bronze; e a altura de um capitel era de cinco côvados, com uma rede e romãs ao redor do capitel, tudo de bronze. A segunda coluna também era igual, com romãs.
- 23
Havia noventa e seis romãs nos lados; todas as romãs eram cem sobre a rede ao redor.
- 24
O capitão da guarda prendeu Seraías, o sacerdote principal, e Sofonias, o segundo sacerdote, e os três guardas da porta;
- 25
e da cidade ele levou um oficial que comandava os homens de guerra; e sete homens daqueles que viam a face do rei, que foram encontrados na cidade; e o escriba do capitão do exército, que alistava o povo da terra; e sessenta homens do povo da terra, que foram encontrados no meio da cidade.

Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, os prendeu e os levou ao rei da Babilônia, em Ribla.
- 27
O rei da Babilônia os feriu e os matou em Ribla, na terra de Hamate. Assim Judá foi levado cativo da sua terra.
- 28
Este é o número das pessoas que Nabucodonosor levou cativas: no sétimo ano, três mil e vinte e três judeus;
- 29
no décimo oitavo ano de Nabucodonosor, ele levou cativas de Jerusalém oitocentas e trinta e duas pessoas;
- 30
no vigésimo terceiro ano de Nabucodonosor, Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, levou cativas setecentas e quarenta e cinco pessoas dos judeus. Todas as pessoas totalizaram quatro mil e seiscentas.
- 31
No trigésimo sétimo ano do cativeiro de Joaquim, rei de Judá, no décimo segundo mês, no vigésimo quinto dia do mês, Evil-Merodaque, rei da Babilônia, no primeiro ano do seu reinado, levantou a cabeça de Joaquim, rei de Judá, e o libertou da prisão.

Ele falou amavelmente com ele e colocou o seu trono acima do trono dos reis que estavam com ele na Babilônia,

e mudou as suas roupas de prisão. Joaquim comeu pão diante dele continuamente todos os dias da sua vida.

Quanto à sua provisão, uma provisão contínua lhe foi dada pelo rei da Babilônia, uma porção a cada dia, até o dia da sua morte, todos os dias da sua vida.
