So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

Then the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled against Job. His wrath was kindled because he justified himself rather than God.

Also his wrath was kindled against his three friends, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job, because they were older than he.
- 5
When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, his wrath was kindled.

Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered, “I am young, and you are very old. Therefore I held back, and didn’t dare show you my opinion.

I said, ‘Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’
- 8
But there is a spirit in man, and the Spirit of the Almighty gives them understanding.
- 9
It is not the great who are wise, nor the aged who understand justice.
- 10
Therefore I said, ‘Listen to me; I also will show my opinion.’
- 11
“Behold, I waited for your words, and I listened for your reasoning, while you searched out what to say.
- 12
Yes, I gave you my full attention, but there was no one who convinced Job, or who answered his words, among you.

Beware lest you say, ‘We have found wisdom. God may refute him, not man;’
- 14
for he has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your speeches.
- 15
“They are amazed. They answer no more. They don’t have a word to say.
- 16
Shall I wait, because they don’t speak, because they stand still, and answer no more?
- 17
I also will answer my part, and I also will show my opinion.

For I am full of words. The spirit within me constrains me.
- 19
Behold, my breast is as wine which has no vent; like new wineskins it is ready to burst.
- 20
I will speak, that I may be refreshed. I will open my lips and answer.
- 21
Please don’t let me respect any man’s person, neither will I give flattering titles to any man.
- 22
For I don’t know how to give flattering titles, or else my Maker would soon take me away.

Então estes três homens pararam de responder a Jó, porque ele era justo aos seus próprios olhos.

Então acendeu-se a ira de Eliú, filho de Baraquel, o buzita, da família de Rão, contra Jó. Sua ira se acendeu porque ele justificava a si mesmo em vez de a Deus.

Também a sua ira se acendeu contra os seus três amigos, porque não tinham encontrado resposta, e mesmo assim haviam condenado Jó.

Ora, Eliú tinha esperado para falar a Jó, porque eles eram mais velhos do que ele.

Quando Eliú viu que não havia resposta na boca destes três homens, a sua ira se acendeu.

Eliú, filho de Baraquel, o buzita, respondeu: “Eu sou jovem, e vocês são muito velhos. Por isso me contive, e não ousei mostrar a vocês a minha opinião.

Eu disse: ‘Os dias devem falar, e a multidão dos anos deve ensinar a sabedoria.’
- 8
Mas há um espírito no homem, e o Espírito do Todo-Poderoso lhes dá entendimento.
- 9
Não são os grandes que são sábios, nem os idosos que entendem a justiça.
- 10
Portanto eu disse: ‘Escutem-me; eu também mostrarei a minha opinião.’
- 11
“Eis que esperei pelas palavras de vocês, e ouvi os seus raciocínios, enquanto vocês buscavam o que dizer.
- 12
Sim, dei a vocês a minha total atenção, mas não houve quem convencesse a Jó, ou quem respondesse às suas palavras, entre vocês.
- 13
Cuidado para que não digam: ‘Encontramos a sabedoria. Deus pode refutá-lo, não o homem;’
- 14
pois ele não dirigiu as suas palavras contra mim; tampouco eu lhe responderei com os discursos de vocês.
- 15
“Eles estão pasmos. Não respondem mais. Não têm mais uma palavra a dizer.
- 16
Devo eu esperar, porque eles não falam, porque ficam parados, e não respondem mais?
- 17
Eu também responderei a minha parte, e eu também mostrarei a minha opinião.
- 18
Pois estou cheio de palavras. O espírito dentro de mim me constrange.
- 19
Eis que o meu peito é como o vinho que não tem respiradouro; como odres novos, está prestes a rebentar.
- 20
Falarei, para que eu encontre alívio. Abrirei os meus lábios e responderei.
- 21
Que eu não faça acepção de pessoas, nem darei títulos lisonjeiros a homem algum.
- 22
Pois eu não sei dar títulos lisonjeiros, do contrário, o meu Criador em breve me levaria.
