“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me! The Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple. Behold, the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, is coming!” says the LORD of Armies.

“But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like launderers’ soap;
- 3
and he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer to the LORD offerings in righteousness.

Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to the LORD as in the days of old and as in ancient years.

I will come near to you to judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and don’t fear me,” says the LORD of Armies.

“For I, the LORD, don’t change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

From the days of your fathers you have turned away from my ordinances and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Armies. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In tithes and offerings.
- 9
You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says the LORD of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be enough room for.

I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before its time in the field,” says the LORD of Armies.

“All nations shall call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the LORD of Armies.

“Your words have been harsh against me,” says the LORD. “Yet you say, ‘What have we spoken against you?’

You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God,’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed his instructions and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of Armies?
- 15
Now we call the proud happy; yes, those who work wickedness are built up; yes, they tempt God, and escape.’

Then those who feared the LORD spoke one with another; and the LORD listened and heard, and a book of memory was written before him for those who feared the LORD and who honored his name.

They shall be mine,” says the LORD of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make. I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.

Then you shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who doesn’t serve him.

“Eis que eu envio o meu mensageiro, e ele preparará o caminho diante de mim! O Senhor, a quem vocês buscam, virá de repente ao seu templo. Eis que o mensageiro da aliança, a quem vocês desejam, está chegando!”, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.

“Mas quem poderá suportar o dia da sua vinda? E quem poderá se manter em pé quando ele aparecer? Pois ele é como o fogo do ourives e como o sabão dos lavandeiros;

e ele se assentará como refinador e purificador de prata, e purificará os filhos de Levi, e os refinará como ouro e prata; e eles apresentarão ao SENHOR ofertas em justiça.

Então a oferta de Judá e de Jerusalém será agradável ao SENHOR, como nos dias passados e como nos anos antigos.

Chegarei perto de vocês para julgamento. Serei uma testemunha veloz contra os feiticeiros, contra os adúlteros, contra os que juram falsamente, e contra aqueles que oprimem o trabalhador em seu salário, a viúva e o órfão, e que negam justiça ao estrangeiro, e não me temem”, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.

“Pois eu, o SENHOR, não mudo; por isso vocês, filhos de Jacó, não são consumidos.
- 7
Desde os dias de seus pais, vocês se desviaram dos meus decretos e não os guardaram. Voltem para mim, e eu voltarei para vocês”, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos. “Mas vocês dizem: ‘Como voltaremos?’

Pode um homem roubar a Deus? Contudo, vocês me roubam! Mas vocês dizem: ‘Como te roubamos?’ Nos dízimos e nas ofertas.
- 9
Vocês estão amaldiçoados com maldição; pois vocês me roubam, sim, toda esta nação.
- 10
Tragam o dízimo todo à casa do tesouro, para que haja alimento na minha casa, e provem-me agora nisto”, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, “se eu não lhes abrir as janelas do céu, e não derramar sobre vocês uma bênção tal, que não haverá espaço suficiente para recebê-la.

Repreenderei o devorador por amor a vocês, e ele não destruirá os frutos da sua terra; nem a sua videira no campo deixará cair o seu fruto antes do tempo”, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.

“Todas as nações os chamarão bem-aventurados, pois vocês serão uma terra deleitável”, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
- 13
“As suas palavras têm sido duras contra mim”, diz o SENHOR. “Contudo, vocês dizem: ‘O que temos falado contra ti?’
- 14
Vocês disseram: ‘É inútil servir a Deus’, e ‘Que proveito há em termos seguido as suas instruções e em termos andado de luto diante do SENHOR dos Exércitos?
- 15
Agora nós chamamos os orgulhosos de felizes; sim, aqueles que praticam a impiedade prosperam; sim, eles tentam a Deus, e escapam.’”
- 16
Então aqueles que temiam ao SENHOR falaram uns com os outros; e o SENHOR escutou e ouviu, e um livro de memorial foi escrito diante dele para os que temiam ao SENHOR e que honravam o seu nome.

“Eles serão meus”, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, “minha propriedade peculiar no dia que eu preparar. Eu os pouparei, como um homem poupa a seu próprio filho que o serve.
- 18
Então vocês voltarão e discernirão entre o justo e o ímpio, entre aquele que serve a Deus e aquele que não o serve.
