Proverbs 10
The superscription "The proverbs of Solomon" (v.1) marks a sharp shift: the long parental speeches of chapters 1-9 give way to standalone two-line sayings, most built on antithesis — the righteous set against the wicked, line by line. Watch how the contrast itself does the teaching, with no narrative to lean on. Mouth and tongue dominate here: a spring of life, choice silver, lips that feed many, against chatter that brings ruin. Read v.11-21 as a cluster on speech, then notice how v.27-32 reframe the same characters under the fear of the LORD.

Two ways, one structure
Nearly every verse pairs a wise outcome with its opposite using "but," so the chapter reads as a sustained sorting of two destinies. Verse 12 — hatred stirring strife while love covers wrongs — is the kind of line later writers reused, and v.22 anchors the wealth sayings in the LORD's blessing rather than mere labor.
The repeated phrase "violence covers the mouth of the wicked" (v.6, v.11) shows the collection is not random: motifs recur deliberately, training the ear before any argument is made.
