Proverbs 15
Speech and the watching God open and frame the chapter. It begins with the famous gentle answer that turns away wrath (v.1) and soon adds that the LORD's eyes are everywhere, on evil and good alike (v.3). What we say is weighed by one who sees all. Notice the "better than" sayings clustered in v.16-17: little with the fear of the LORD over great treasure with trouble; a dinner of herbs with love over a fattened calf with hatred. The chapter prizes a settled heart over abundance.

The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow’s borders intact.

The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.

He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.

The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.

The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.

The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.

He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.

The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.

A continual feast
A line on the heart's weather runs through: a glad heart makes a cheerful face (v.13), the cheerful heart enjoys "a continual feast" (v.15), good news gives health to the bones (v.30). Inner state, not circumstance, sets the quality of a life.
The "better than" pair of v.16-17 sharpens the point with two meals — herbs with love beating a fattened calf with hatred — making contentment, not the menu, the real wealth.
