Revelation 5
A sealed scroll lies in the hand of the One on the throne, and an angel asks who is worthy to open it. No one in heaven, earth, or under the earth qualifies, and John weeps — until an elder points to the Lion of Judah, the Root of David, who has overcome. Then the surprise: John turns to see not a lion but a Lamb 'as though it had been slain.' Watch the reversal — the conqueror announced as a lion appears as a slaughtered lamb, and that is precisely why he can take the scroll.

I saw, in the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book written inside and outside, sealed shut with seven seals.

I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?”

No one in heaven above, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book or to look in it.

Then I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book or to look in it.

One of the elders said to me, “Don’t weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome: he who opens the book and its seven seals.”

I saw in the middle of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the middle of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

Then he came, and he took it out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne.

Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

They sang a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for you were killed, and bought us for God with your blood out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,

and made us kings and priests to our God; and we will reign on the earth.”

I looked, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders. The number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands,

saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!”

I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!”

The four living creatures said, “Amen!” Then the elders fell down and worshiped.

E um dos anciãos me disse: “Não chore. Eis que o Leão da tribo de Judá, a Raiz de Davi, venceu para abrir o livro e os seus sete selos.”

Vi no meio do trono e dos quatro seres viventes, e no meio dos anciãos, um Cordeiro em pé, como se tivesse sido morto. Ele tinha sete chifres e sete olhos, que são os sete Espíritos de Deus enviados a toda a terra.

Então ele veio e pegou o livro da mão direita daquele que estava sentado no trono.

E quando ele pegou o livro, os quatro seres viventes e os vinte e quatro anciãos prostraram-se diante do Cordeiro, tendo cada um deles uma harpa e taças de ouro cheias de incenso, que são as orações dos santos.

E eles cantavam um cântico novo, dizendo: “Tu és digno de pegar o livro e de abrir os seus selos, pois foste morto, e com o teu sangue nos compraste para Deus de toda tribo, língua, povo e nação,

e nos fizeste reis e sacerdotes para o nosso Deus; e reinaremos sobre a terra.”

Olhei e ouvi a voz de muitos anjos ao redor do trono, e dos seres viventes, e dos anciãos. O número deles era milhares de milhares, e milhões de milhões,

dizendo com grande voz: “Digno é o Cordeiro que foi morto, de receber o poder, e riquezas, e sabedoria, e força, e honra, e glória, e louvor!”

Ouvi toda criatura que está no céu, na terra, debaixo da terra, no mar, e tudo o que neles há, dizendo: “Àquele que está sentado no trono e ao Cordeiro sejam o louvor, a honra, a glória e o domínio para todo o sempre! Amém!”

Os quatro seres viventes disseram: “Amém!” Então os anciãos prostraram-se e adoraram.
Worship widening in three rings
Once the Lamb takes the scroll, praise expands outward. First the four creatures and twenty-four elders sing a 'new song' grounded in his blood, bought from every tribe and nation (v.9). Then myriads of angels join — thousands of thousands. Finally every created thing in heaven, earth, under the earth and sea speaks (v.13). The chapter answers chapter 4: creation worshiped the Creator, and now all creation worships the Lamb on the same throne.
