Jehoshaphat seu filho reinava em seu lugar, e se fortalecia contra Israel.
- 2
Ele colocou forças em todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá, e colocou guarnições na terra de Judá e nas cidades de Efraim, que Asa seu pai havia tomado.

Yahweh estava com Jeosafá, porque ele andou nos primeiros caminhos de seu pai Davi, e não procurou os Baal,
- 4
mas procurou o Deus de seu pai, e andou nos seus mandamentos, e não nos caminhos de Israel.
- 5
Portanto Yahweh estabeleceu o reino em sua mão. Todo Judá trouxe tributo a Jeosafá, e ele tinha riquezas e honra em abundância.
- 6
Seu coração foi levantado nos caminhos de Iavé. Além disso, ele tirou os lugares altos e os bastões de Asherah de Judá.

Também no terceiro ano de seu reinado ele enviou seus príncipes, até Ben Hail, Obadiah, Zacarias, Nethanel e Micaías, para ensinar nas cidades de Judá;
- 8
e com eles os levitas, até mesmo Semaías, Netanias, Zebadias, Asael, Semiramote, Jeonatã, Adonias, Tobias e Tobadonias, os levitas; e com eles Elishama e Jeorão, os sacerdotes.

Eles ensinaram em Judá, tendo o livro da lei de Yahweh com eles. Eles andaram por todas as cidades de Judá e ensinaram entre o povo.

O medo de Javé caiu sobre todos os reinos das terras que estavam ao redor de Judá, de modo que eles não fizeram nenhuma guerra contra Jeosafá.

Alguns filisteus trouxeram presentes de Jeosafá e prata para homenagear. Os árabes também lhe trouxeram rebanhos: sete mil setecentos carneiros e sete mil setecentos caprinos machos.

Jehoshaphat cresceu excessivamente; e construiu fortalezas e armazena cidades em Judá.

Ele tinha muitas obras nas cidades de Judá; e homens de guerra, poderosos homens de valor, em Jerusalém.

Esta era a numeração deles de acordo com as casas de seus pais: De Judá, os capitães de milhares: Adnah o capitão, e com ele trezentos mil homens valentes;

e ao seu lado Jehohanan o capitão, e com ele duzentos e oitenta mil;
- 16
e ao seu lado Amasias o filho de Zicri, que voluntariamente se ofereceu a Javé, e com ele duzentos mil homens valentes.

De Benjamim: Eliada, um homem poderoso e valoroso, e com ele duzentos mil armados com arco e escudo;
- 18
e ao seu lado Jehozabad, e com ele cento e oitenta mil prontos e preparados para a guerra.

Estes foram os que esperaram pelo rei, além daqueles que o rei colocou nas cidades fortificadas em todo o Judá.

Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.
- 2
He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,
- 4
but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel.
- 5
Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. All Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance.
- 6
His heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD. Furthermore, he took away the high places and the Asherah poles out of Judah.
- 7
Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
- 8
and with them Levites, even Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

They taught in Judah, having the book of the LORD’s law with them. They went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

The fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
- 11
Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute. The Arabians also brought him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.
- 12
Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.
- 13
He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.
- 14
This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: From Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;

and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;
- 16
and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to the LORD, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
- 17
From Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
- 18
and next to him Jehozabad, and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready and prepared for war.
- 19
These were those who waited on the king, in addition to those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
