Deus falou todas estas palavras, dizendo:

“Eu sou o SENHOR, o seu Deus, que o tirou da terra do Egito, da casa da escravidão.
- 3
“Você não terá outros deuses diante de mim.
- 4
“Você não fará para si nenhum ídolo, nem imagem alguma de qualquer coisa que está nos céus em cima, ou que está na terra embaixo, ou que está nas águas debaixo da terra:
- 5
você não se prostrará diante deles, nem os servirá, pois eu, o SENHOR, o seu Deus, sou Deus zeloso, que visito a iniquidade dos pais nos filhos, na terceira e na quarta geração daqueles que me odeiam,
- 6
e mostro bondade amorosa a milhares daqueles que me amam e guardam os meus mandamentos.

“Você não fará mau uso do nome do SENHOR seu Deus, pois o SENHOR não deixará impune aquele que fizer mau uso do seu nome.
- 8
“Lembre-se do dia de sábado, para santificá-lo.
- 9
Você trabalhará seis dias, e fará toda a sua obra,
- 10
mas o sétimo dia é o sábado para o SENHOR, o seu Deus. Você não fará nenhum trabalho nele, nem você, nem o seu filho, nem a sua filha, nem o seu servo, nem a sua serva, nem os seus animais, nem o estrangeiro que está dentro das suas portas;

pois em seis dias o SENHOR fez os céus e a terra, o mar e tudo o que neles há, e descansou no sétimo dia; portanto, o SENHOR abençoou o dia de sábado e o santificou.

“Honre o seu pai e a sua mãe, para que os seus dias se prolonguem na terra que o SENHOR, o seu Deus, lhe dá.

“Você não matará.
- 14
“Você não cometerá adultério.
- 15
“Você não furtará.
- 16
“Você não dará falso testemunho contra o seu próximo.
- 17
“Você não cobiçará a casa do seu próximo. Você não cobiçará a mulher do seu próximo, nem o seu servo, nem a sua serva, nem o seu boi, nem o seu jumento, nem coisa alguma que pertença ao seu próximo.”

Todo o povo percebeu os trovões, os relâmpagos, o som da trombeta e a montanha fumegando. Quando o povo viu isso, tremeu e ficou a distância.

Eles disseram a Moisés: “Fale você mesmo conosco, e nós ouviremos; mas não deixe que Deus fale conosco, para que não morramos.”
- 20
Moisés disse ao povo: “Não tenham medo, pois Deus veio para prová-los, e para que o temor dele esteja diante de vocês, a fim de que não pequem.”
- 21
O povo ficou a distância, e Moisés se aproximou da densa escuridão onde Deus estava.
- 22
O SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Isto é o que você dirá aos filhos de Israel: 'Vocês mesmos viram que eu falei com vocês do céu.
- 23
Certamente vocês não farão deuses de prata ou deuses de ouro para si mesmos, para estarem ao meu lado.
- 24
Vocês farão um altar de terra para mim, e sacrificarão sobre ele os seus holocaustos e as suas ofertas pacíficas, as suas ovelhas e o seu gado. Em todo lugar onde eu registrar o meu nome, virei a vocês e os abençoarei.
- 25
Se vocês me fizerem um altar de pedra, não o construirão de pedras lavradas; pois se levantarem a sua ferramenta sobre ele, vocês o profanarão.
- 26
Vocês não subirão por degraus ao meu altar, para que a sua nudez não seja exposta sobre ele.'”

God spoke all these words, saying,
- 2
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
- 3
“You shall have no other gods before me.
- 4
“You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
- 5
you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,
- 6
and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
- 7
“You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.
- 8
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
- 9
You shall labor six days, and do all your work,
- 10
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates;
- 11
for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
- 13
“You shall not murder.
- 14
“You shall not commit adultery.
- 15
“You shall not steal.
- 16
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
- 17
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

All the people perceived the thunderings, the lightnings, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled, and stayed at a distance.

They said to Moses, “Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but don’t let God speak with us, lest we die.”
- 20
Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid, for God has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won’t sin.”
- 21
The people stayed at a distance, and Moses came near to the thick darkness where God was.
- 22
The LORD said to Moses, “This is what you shall tell the children of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
- 23
You shall most certainly not make gods of silver or gods of gold for yourselves to be alongside me.
- 24
You shall make an altar of earth for me, and shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your cattle. In every place where I record my name I will come to you and I will bless you.
- 25
If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of cut stones; for if you lift up your tool on it, you have polluted it.
- 26
You shall not go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed to it.’
