Marcos 16
Passado o sábado, Maria Madalena, Maria mãe de Tiago e Salomé levam especiarias para ungir o corpo, preocupadas com quem removerá a pedra. Encontram-na já movida e um jovem vestido de branco anuncia que Jesus ressuscitou e foi adiante para a Galileia. O capítulo reúne depois as aparições e uma ordem final de pregar a toda criatura. Repare no temor abrupto do v. 8, onde as mulheres fogem sem dizer nada, antes de os vv. 9-20 ampliarem a cena.

Quando passou o sábado, Maria Madalena, Maria, mãe de Tiago, e Salomé compraram especiarias, para que pudessem ir e ungi-lo.

Bem cedo, no primeiro dia da semana, elas foram ao sepulcro, ao nascer do sol.

Elas diziam entre si: “Quem rolará para nós a pedra da porta do sepulcro?”

pois era muito grande. Olhando para cima, viram que a pedra havia sido rolada.

Entrando no sepulcro, viram um jovem sentado do lado direito, vestido com uma túnica branca; e ficaram assustadas.

Ele lhes disse: “Não se assustem. Vocês buscam a Jesus, o Nazareno, que foi crucificado. Ele ressuscitou! Ele não está aqui. Vejam o lugar onde o colocaram!

Mas vão, digam aos seus discípulos e a Pedro: 'Ele vai adiante de vocês para a Galileia. Lá vocês o verão, como ele lhes disse.'”

Elas saíram, e fugiram do sepulcro, pois estavam tomadas de tremor e espanto. Elas não disseram nada a ninguém; pois estavam com medo.

Ora, tendo ele ressuscitado de manhã cedo no primeiro dia da semana, apareceu primeiro a Maria Madalena, da qual havia expulsado sete demônios.

Ela foi e contou aos que haviam estado com ele, enquanto eles lamentavam e choravam.

Quando ouviram que ele estava vivo e que havia sido visto por ela, não acreditaram.

Depois destas coisas, ele se manifestou em outra forma a dois deles enquanto caminhavam, a caminho do campo.

Eles foram e contaram isso aos demais. Mas eles também não acreditaram neles.

Mais tarde, ele se manifestou aos próprios onze enquanto estavam sentados à mesa; e os repreendeu por sua incredulidade e dureza de coração, porque não acreditaram naqueles que o tinham visto depois que ele havia ressuscitado.

Ele lhes disse: “Vão por todo o mundo e preguem o Evangelho a toda a criação.
- 16
Quem crer e for batizado será salvo; mas quem não crer será condenado.
- 17
Estes sinais acompanharão aos que crerem: em meu nome expulsarão demônios; falarão em novas línguas;
- 18
pegarão em serpentes; e se beberem algo mortífero, de modo nenhum lhes fará mal; imporão as mãos sobre os enfermos, e eles serão curados.”

Assim, pois, o Senhor, depois de lhes ter falado, foi recebido no céu e assentou-se à direita de Deus.

Eles saíram e pregaram por toda parte, o Senhor trabalhando com eles e confirmando a palavra pelos sinais que os acompanhavam. Amém.

When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint him.

Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

They were saying among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?”

for it was very big. Looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back.

Entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were amazed.

He said to them, “Don’t be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him!

But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He goes before you into Galilee. There you will see him, as he said to you.’”

They went out, and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had come on them. They said nothing to anyone; for they were afraid.

Now when he had risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.

She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.
- 11
When they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they disbelieved.
- 12
After these things he was revealed in another form to two of them as they walked, on their way into the country.
- 13
They went away and told it to the rest. They didn’t believe them, either.
- 14
Afterward he was revealed to the eleven themselves as they sat at the table; and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they didn’t believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to the whole creation.
- 16
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned.
- 17
These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages;
- 18
they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
- 20
They went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.
Um medo que cala, depois uma ordem de falar
O final mais antigo para no v. 8: as mulheres fogem "pois estavam tomadas de tremor e espanto," sem dizer nada por medo, um fecho notavelmente inacabado. Os versículos tradicionais que se seguem revertem esse silêncio: Jesus aparece a Maria Madalena e a outros que de início não creem, e depois ordena: "Vão por todo o mundo e preguem o Evangelho a toda a criação" (v. 15).
