Assim o Senhor Javé me mostrou: eis que uma cesta de frutas de verão.

Ele disse: “Amos, o que você vê?” Eu disse: “Uma cesta de frutas de verão”. Então Yahweh me disse, “O fim chegou ao meu povo Israel”. Não vou mais passar por eles.

As canções do templo estarão lamentando naquele dia”, diz o Senhor Javé. “Os cadáveres serão muitos. Em todos os lugares, eles os expulsarão em silêncio.

Ouça isto, você que deseja engolir os necessitados, e causar o fracasso dos pobres da terra,
- 5
dizendo: 'Quando a lua nova vai desaparecer, para que possamos vender grãos? E o Sabbath, para que possamos comercializar trigo, tornando a efah pequena, e o shekel grande, e lidar falsamente com equilíbrios de enganos;

para que possamos comprar os pobres por prata, e os necessitados por um par de sandálias, e vender as varreduras com o trigo”...

Yahweh jurou pelo orgulho de Jacob, “Certamente nunca vou esquecer nenhuma de suas obras.
- 8
A terra não vai tremer por isso, e todos lamentam quem nela habita? Sim, ele se erguerá totalmente como o rio; e será agitado e afundará novamente, como o rio do Egito.

Isso acontecerá naquele dia”, diz o Senhor Yahweh, “que farei com que o sol se ponha ao meio-dia”, e eu escurecerei a terra no dia claro.

Vou transformar suas festas em luto, e todas as suas canções em lamentações; e farei você usar pano de saco em todos os seus corpos, e calvície em cada cabeça. Vou fazer com que seja como o luto por um filho único, e seu fim como um dia amargo.

Eis que os dias vêm”, diz o Senhor Yahweh, “que eu enviarei uma fome na terra, não uma fome de pão, nem sede de água, mas de ouvir as palavras de Yahweh.

Eles vagarão de mar a mar, e do norte até mesmo para o leste; eles correrão para trás e para frente em busca da palavra de Javé, e não o encontrará.

Naquele dia as belas virgens e os jovens vão desmaiar de sede.

Those que juram pelo pecado de Samaria, e dizer: 'Como seu deus, Dan, vive'. e, “Como o caminho de Beersheba vive, eles cairão, e nunca mais se levantarão”.

Thus the Lord GOD showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit.

He said, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the LORD said to me, “The end has come on my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.

The songs of the temple will be wailing in that day,” says the Lord GOD. “The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.

Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,

saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;
- 6
that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’”

The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob, “Surely I will never forget any of their works.
- 8
Won’t the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt.

It will happen in that day,” says the Lord GOD, “that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
- 10
I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.

Behold, the days come,” says the Lord GOD, “that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the LORD’s words.

They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek the LORD’s word, and will not find it.

In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint for thirst.
- 14
Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, ‘As your god, Dan, lives,’ and, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives,’ they will fall, and never rise up again.”
