Ezequiel 43

O eixo de toda a visão do templo. Após oito capítulos de corredores vazios, a glória de Deus regressa, vinda do oriente com voz "como o som de muitas águas" (v.2), a mesma glória que Ezequiel vira partir no capítulo 10. Enche a casa, e uma voz reivindica o lugar como trono de Deus para sempre (v.7). Repare-se na viragem da arquitectura para a exigência: o povo tem de se envergonhar dos seus pecados antes de receber o modelo que deve guardar (vv.10-11).

Depois ele me levou à porta, a porta que está voltada para o leste.

Eis que a glória do Deus de Israel vinha do caminho do leste. Sua voz era como o som de muitas águas; e a terra foi iluminada com a sua glória.

Era como a aparência da visão que eu vi, sim, de acordo com a visão que vi quando vim para destruir a cidade; e as visões eram como a visão que vi junto ao rio Quebar; e eu caí com o rosto em terra.

A glória do SENHOR entrou na casa pelo caminho da porta que está voltada para o leste.

O Espírito me levantou e me levou ao pátio interior; e eis que a glória do SENHOR encheu a casa.

Ouvi alguém falando comigo de dentro da casa, e um homem estava de pé ao meu lado.

Ele me disse: “Filho do homem, este é o lugar do meu trono e o lugar das solas dos meus pés, onde habitarei no meio dos filhos de Israel para sempre. A casa de Israel não contaminará mais o meu santo nome, nem eles nem os seus reis, com a sua prostituição e com os cadáveres dos seus reis nos seus lugares altos;

ao colocarem a sua soleira junto à minha soleira, e a sua ombreira junto à minha ombreira. Havia apenas uma parede entre mim e eles; e eles contaminaram o meu santo nome com as abominações que cometeram. Por isso eu os consumi na minha ira.

Agora, que afastem de mim a sua prostituição e os cadáveres dos seus reis. Então habitarei no meio deles para sempre.

“Você, filho do homem, mostre a casa à casa de Israel, para que se envergonhem das suas iniquidades; e que eles meçam o modelo.

Se eles se envergonharem de tudo o que fizeram, faça com que conheçam a forma da casa, o seu arranjo, as suas saídas, as suas entradas, a sua estrutura, todos os seus estatutos, todas as suas formas e todas as suas leis; e escreva isso à vista deles, para que guardem toda a sua forma e todos os seus estatutos, e os cumpram.

“Esta é a lei da casa. No topo do monte, todo o seu limite ao redor será santíssimo. Eis que esta é a lei da casa.

“Estas são as medidas do altar em côvados (o côvado é um côvado e a largura de uma mão): a base terá um côvado, e a largura um côvado, e a sua borda ao redor da sua extremidade será de um palmo; e esta será a base do altar.
14
Da base no chão até a saliência inferior haverá dois côvados, e a largura será de um côvado; e da saliência menor até a saliência maior haverá quatro côvados, e a largura será de um côvado.
15
O altar superior terá quatro côvados; e da lareira do altar para cima haverá quatro chifres.
16
A lareira do altar terá doze côvados de comprimento por doze de largura, quadrada nos seus quatro lados.
17
A saliência terá catorze côvados de comprimento por catorze de largura nos seus quatro lados; e a borda ao redor dela será de meio côvado; e a sua base será de um côvado ao redor; e os seus degraus estarão voltados para o leste.”

Ele me disse: “Filho do homem, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: ‘Estes são os estatutos do altar no dia em que o fizerem, para oferecer holocaustos sobre ele e para aspergir sangue sobre ele.
19
Você dará aos sacerdotes levíticos que são da descendência de Zadoque, que se aproximam de mim para me ministrar’, diz o Senhor DEUS, ‘um novilho para oferta pelo pecado.
20
Você pegará do seu sangue e o colocará nos seus quatro chifres, e nos quatro cantos da saliência, e na borda ao redor. Assim você o purificará e fará expiação por ele.
21
Você também pegará o novilho da oferta pelo pecado, e ele será queimado no lugar designado da casa, fora do santuário.
22
“No segundo dia você oferecerá um bode sem defeito como oferta pelo pecado; e eles purificarão o altar, assim como o purificaram com o novilho.
23
Quando você tiver terminado de purificá-lo, oferecerá um novilho sem defeito e um carneiro do rebanho sem defeito.
24
Você os trará para perto do SENHOR, e os sacerdotes lançarão sal sobre eles, e os oferecerão como holocausto ao SENHOR.
25
“Durante sete dias você preparará a cada dia um bode como oferta pelo pecado. Eles também prepararão um novilho e um carneiro do rebanho, sem defeito.
26
Durante sete dias eles farão expiação pelo altar e o purificarão. Assim eles o consagrarão.
27
Quando eles tiverem cumprido os dias, acontecerá que no oitavo dia em diante, os sacerdotes farão os seus holocaustos no altar e as suas ofertas pacíficas. Então eu os aceitarei’, diz o Senhor DEUS.”

Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looks toward the east.

Behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth was illuminated with his glory.

It was like the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city; and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.

The LORD’s glory came into the house by the way of the gate which faces toward the east.

The Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the LORD’s glory filled the house.

I heard one speaking to me out of the house, and a man stood by me.

He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell among the children of Israel forever. The house of Israel will no more defile my holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their prostitution and by the dead bodies of their kings in their high places;

in their setting of their threshold by my threshold and their door post beside my door post. There was a wall between me and them; and they have defiled my holy name by their abominations which they have committed. Therefore I have consumed them in my anger.

Now let them put away their prostitution, and the dead bodies of their kings far from me. Then I will dwell among them forever.

“You, son of man, show the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern.
11
If they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the form of the house, its fashion, its exits, its entrances, its structure, all its ordinances, all its forms, and all its laws; and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form of it, and all its ordinances, and do them.

“This is the law of the house. On the top of the mountain the whole limit around it shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.
13
“These are the measurements of the altar by cubits (the cubit is a cubit and a hand width): the bottom shall be a cubit, and the width a cubit, and its border around its edge a span; and this shall be the base of the altar.
14
From the bottom on the ground to the lower ledge shall be two cubits, and the width one cubit; and from the lesser ledge to the greater ledge shall be four cubits, and the width a cubit.
15
The upper altar shall be four cubits; and from the altar hearth and upward there shall be four horns.
16
The altar hearth shall be twelve cubits long by twelve wide, square in its four sides.
17
The ledge shall be fourteen cubits long by fourteen wide in its four sides; and the border about it shall be half a cubit; and its bottom shall be a cubit around; and its steps shall look toward the east.”

He said to me, “Son of man, the Lord GOD says: ‘These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they make it, to offer burnt offerings on it, and to sprinkle blood on it.
19
You shall give to the Levitical priests who are of the offspring of Zadok, who are near to me, to minister to me,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘a young bull for a sin offering.
20
You shall take of its blood and put it on its four horns, and on the four corners of the ledge, and on the border all around. You shall cleanse it and make atonement for it that way.
21
You shall also take the bull of the sin offering, and it shall be burned in the appointed place of the house, outside of the sanctuary.
22
“On the second day you shall offer a male goat without defect for a sin offering; and they shall cleanse the altar, as they cleansed it with the bull.
23
When you have finished cleansing it, you shall offer a young bull without defect and a ram out of the flock without defect.
24
You shall bring them near to the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt on them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering to the LORD.
25
“Seven days you shall prepare every day a goat for a sin offering. They shall also prepare a young bull and a ram out of the flock, without defect.
26
Seven days shall they make atonement for the altar and purify it. So shall they consecrate it.
27
When they have accomplished the days, it shall be that on the eighth day and onward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings on the altar and your peace offerings. Then I will accept you,’ says the Lord GOD.”

Da medida à expiação

Os versículos 13-27 dão ao altar as suas dimensões e depois a sua consagração: sete dias de ofertas pelo pecado, sangue nos quatro chifres, um novilho e um bode para o purificar. O altar tão detalhado não é peça de museu: há-de ser construído e posto a funcionar.

A promessa que fecha o capítulo, "então vos aceitarei" (v.27), recoloca tudo o que foi medido até aqui. A glória que regressa fica condicionada a um culto purificado, a ligar esta visão de plantas ao protesto de toda a vida de Ezequiel contra um santuário contaminado.
