Marcos 15
Ao amanhecer o conselho entrega Jesus a Pilatos, que se admira do seu silêncio. A multidão, incitada, pede em seu lugar Barrabás e grita "Crucifica-o!" Os soldados escarnecem dele com manto de púrpura e coroa de espinhos; Simão de Cirene leva a cruz ao Gólgota. À hora nona Jesus clama e morre, o véu do templo rasga-se e um centurião confessa-o. Repare como o título "Rei dos Judeus" percorre o capítulo como acusação, troça e letreiro sobre a cruz.

Logo de manhã, os principais sacerdotes, com os anciãos, os escribas e todo o conselho, realizaram uma deliberação, amarraram Jesus, o levaram e o entregaram a Pilatos.

Pilatos lhe perguntou: “Você é o Rei dos Judeus?” Ele respondeu: “Você o diz.”

Os principais sacerdotes o acusavam de muitas coisas.

Pilatos perguntou-lhe novamente: “Você não tem resposta? Veja de quantas coisas eles testemunham contra você!”

Mas Jesus não respondeu mais nada, de modo que Pilatos ficou admirado.

Ora, na festa ele costumava soltar-lhes um prisioneiro, qualquer que eles pedissem.

Havia um chamado Barrabás, preso com seus companheiros insurgentes, homens que na insurreição haviam cometido assassinato.
- 8
A multidão, gritando alto, começou a pedir-lhe que fizesse como sempre lhes fazia.
- 9
Pilatos lhes respondeu, dizendo: “Vocês querem que eu lhes solte o Rei dos Judeus?”
- 10
Pois ele percebia que os principais sacerdotes o haviam entregado por inveja.
- 11
Mas os principais sacerdotes incitaram a multidão, para que em vez disso ele lhes soltasse Barrabás.

Pilatos perguntou-lhes novamente: “O que então devo fazer com aquele a quem vocês chamam de Rei dos Judeus?”

Eles gritaram novamente: “Crucifica-o!”
- 14
Pilatos lhes disse: “Por quê? Que mal ele fez?” Mas eles gritaram ainda mais: “Crucifica-o!”

Pilatos, querendo agradar a multidão, soltou-lhes Barrabás, e entregou Jesus, depois de açoitá-lo, para ser crucificado.

Os soldados o levaram para dentro do pátio, que é o Pretório; e reuniram toda a coorte.

Eles o vestiram de púrpura; e tecendo uma coroa de espinhos, a colocaram nele.

Começaram a saudá-lo: “Salve, Rei dos Judeus!”

Batiam-lhe na cabeça com um caniço e cuspiam nele, e dobrando os joelhos, prestavam-lhe homenagem.

Quando zombaram dele, tiraram-lhe o manto de púrpura e vestiram-lhe as suas próprias roupas. Eles o levaram para fora para crucificá-lo.

Eles obrigaram um homem que passava, vindo do campo, Simão de Cirene, pai de Alexandre e de Rufo, a ir com eles para carregar a sua cruz.

Levaram-no ao lugar chamado Gólgota, que, traduzido, é “O lugar da Caveira”.

Ofereceram-lhe vinho misturado com mirra para beber, mas ele não o tomou.

Ao crucificá-lo, repartiram entre si as suas roupas, lançando sortes sobre elas, para decidir o que cada um levaria.

Era a terceira hora quando o crucificaram.

A inscrição da sua acusação estava escrita acima dele: “O REI DOS JUDEUS”.

Com ele crucificaram dois ladrões, um à sua direita e outro à sua esquerda.

Cumpriu-se a Escritura que diz: “Ele foi contado com os transgressores.”

Os que passavam o blasfemavam, balançando a cabeça e dizendo: “Ah! Você que destrói o templo e o edifica em três dias,

salve a si mesmo, e desça da cruz!”

Da mesma forma, também os principais sacerdotes, zombando entre si com os escribas, diziam: “Ele salvou os outros. A si mesmo não pode salvar.

Que o Cristo, o Rei de Israel, desça agora da cruz, para que vejamos e creiamos nele.” Aqueles que foram crucificados com ele também o insultavam.

Quando chegou a sexta hora , houve trevas sobre toda a terra até a nona hora.

À nona hora, Jesus clamou em alta voz, dizendo: “Eloí, Eloí, lamá sabactâni?” que, traduzido, é: “Deus meu, Deus meu, por que me desamparaste?”

Alguns dos que estavam ali, ouvindo isso, disseram: “Vejam, ele está chamando Elias.”

Um deles correu e, enchendo uma esponja com vinagre, colocou-a num caniço e deu-lhe de beber, dizendo: “Deixem-no. Vejamos se Elias vem tirá-lo da cruz.”

Jesus clamou em alta voz e entregou o espírito.

O véu do templo rasgou-se em dois, de alto a baixo.

Quando o centurião, que estava em frente a ele, viu que ele clamou assim e expirou, disse: “Verdadeiramente este homem era o Filho de Deus!”

Havia também mulheres observando de longe, entre as quais estavam Maria Madalena, Maria, mãe de Tiago, o menor, e de José, e Salomé;
- 41
as quais, quando ele estava na Galileia, o seguiam e o serviam; e muitas outras mulheres que subiram com ele para Jerusalém.

Ao cair da tarde, por ser o Dia da Preparação, isto é, a véspera do sábado,

chegou José de Arimateia, um membro proeminente do conselho, que também esperava o Reino de Deus. Ele entrou corajosamente à presença de Pilatos e pediu o corpo de Jesus.

Pilatos ficou surpreso ao ouvir que ele já estava morto; e, chamando o centurião, perguntou-lhe se já fazia muito tempo que ele havia morrido.

Quando se informou com o centurião, ele cedeu o corpo a José.
- 46
Ele comprou um lençol de linho e, tirando-o da cruz, envolveu-o no lençol de linho e o colocou em um túmulo que havia sido escavado na rocha. Ele rolou uma pedra contra a porta do túmulo.

Maria Madalena e Maria, mãe de José, viram onde ele foi colocado.

Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders, scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered, “So you say.”

The chief priests accused him of many things.

Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”

But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whomever they asked of him.

There was one called Barabbas, bound with his fellow insurgents, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.
- 8
The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.
- 9
Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”
- 10
For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.
- 11
But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.
- 12
Pilate again asked them, “What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?”
- 13
They cried out again, “Crucify him!”
- 14
Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”
- 15
Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.
- 16
The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.

They clothed him with purple; and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.
- 18
They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
- 19
They struck his head with a reed and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.
- 20
When they had mocked him, they took the purple cloak off him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.
- 21
They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them that he might bear his cross.

They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “The place of a skull.”
- 23
They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.
- 24
Crucifying him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take.
- 25
It was the third hour when they crucified him.
- 26
The superscription of his accusation was written over him: “THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

With him they crucified two robbers, one on his right hand, and one on his left.
- 28
The Scripture was fulfilled which says, “He was counted with transgressors.”

Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads and saying, “Ha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days,
- 30
save yourself, and come down from the cross!”
- 31
Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, “He saved others. He can’t save himself.
- 32
Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him.” Those who were crucified with him also insulted him.

When the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”
- 36
One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”

Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.
- 38
The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.

When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
- 41
who, when he was in Galilee, followed him and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
- 43
Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for God’s Kingdom, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.

Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.
- 45
When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
- 46
He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.
Um véu rasgado e a confissão de um romano
Duas coisas acontecem no instante da morte (vv. 38-39). O véu do templo "rasgou-se em dois, de alto a baixo," e o centurião que viu Jesus morrer diz: "Verdadeiramente este homem era o Filho de Deus!" Em Marcos, o primeiro humano a nomeá-lo assim junto à cruz é um carrasco gentio, não um discípulo: a confissão com que o livro abriu é agora proferida por alguém de fora.
