O SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:

“Faça duas trombetas de prata. Você as fará de obra batida. Você as usará para convocar a congregação e para dar o sinal de partida dos acampamentos.
- 3
Quando as tocarem, toda a congregação se reunirá a você à porta da Tenda do Encontro.
- 4
Se tocarem apenas uma, então os príncipes, os chefes dos milhares de Israel, se reunirão a você.
- 5
Quando você tocar um alarme, os acampamentos que estão do lado leste se colocarão em marcha.
- 6
Quando você tocar um alarme pela segunda vez, os acampamentos que estão do lado sul se colocarão em marcha. Eles tocarão um alarme para as suas partidas.

Mas, quando a assembleia tiver que ser reunida, você tocará, mas não soará um alarme.

“Os filhos de Arão, os sacerdotes, tocarão as trombetas. Isso será para vocês um estatuto perpétuo através das suas gerações.

Quando vocês forem à guerra em sua terra contra o adversário que os oprime, então soarão um alarme com as trombetas. Então vocês serão lembrados perante o SENHOR, seu Deus, e serão salvos dos seus inimigos.

“Também no dia da sua alegria, e nas suas festas fixas, e no princípio dos seus meses, vocês tocarão as trombetas sobre os seus holocaustos e sobre os sacrifícios das suas ofertas pacíficas; e elas serão para vocês por memorial perante o seu Deus. Eu sou o SENHOR, o seu Deus.”

No segundo ano, no segundo mês, no vigésimo dia do mês, a nuvem se ergueu de sobre o tabernáculo da aliança.

Os filhos de Israel partiram em suas jornadas saindo do deserto do Sinai; e a nuvem pousou no deserto de Parã.

Eles partiram pela primeira vez segundo a ordem do SENHOR por intermédio de Moisés.
- 14
Primeiro, o estandarte do acampamento dos filhos de Judá partiu segundo os seus exércitos. Naassom, filho de Aminadabe, estava sobre o seu exército.

Natanael, filho de Zuar, estava sobre o exército da tribo dos filhos de Issacar.
- 16
Eliabe, filho de Helom, estava sobre o exército da tribo dos filhos de Zebulom.
- 17
O tabernáculo foi desmontado; e os filhos de Gérson e os filhos de Merari, que carregavam o tabernáculo, partiram.
- 18
O estandarte do acampamento de Rúben partiu segundo os seus exércitos. Elizur, filho de Sedeur, estava sobre o seu exército.
- 19
Selumiel, filho de Zurisadai, estava sobre o exército da tribo dos filhos de Simeão.
- 20
Eliasafe, filho de Deuel, estava sobre o exército da tribo dos filhos de Gade.
- 21
Os coatitas partiram, carregando o santuário. Os outros montavam o tabernáculo antes que eles chegassem.

O estandarte do acampamento dos filhos de Efraim partiu segundo os seus exércitos. Elisama, filho de Amiúde, estava sobre o seu exército.

Abidã, filho de Gideoni, estava sobre o exército da tribo dos filhos de Benjamim.

O estandarte do acampamento dos filhos de Dã, que era a retaguarda de todos os acampamentos, partiu segundo os seus exércitos. Aiezer, filho de Amisadai, estava sobre o seu exército.

Pagiel, filho de Ocrã, estava sobre o exército da tribo dos filhos de Aser.

Aira, filho de Enã, estava sobre o exército da tribo dos filhos de Naftali.

Assim foram as jornadas dos filhos de Israel segundo os seus exércitos; e eles partiram.

Moisés disse a Hobabe, filho de Reuel, o midianita, sogro de Moisés: “Estamos viajando para o lugar do qual o SENHOR disse: 'Eu o darei a vocês.' Venha conosco, e nós o trataremos bem; pois o SENHOR prometeu boas coisas a respeito de Israel.”

Ele lhe respondeu: “Não irei; mas partirei para a minha própria terra e para os meus parentes.”

Moisés disse: “Por favor, não nos deixe; porque você sabe onde devemos acampar no deserto, e você pode ser os nossos olhos.
- 32
E acontecerá que, se você for conosco — sim, acontecerá — que todo o bem que o SENHOR nos fizer, nós também faremos a você.”

Eles partiram do Monte do SENHOR a uma jornada de três dias. A arca da aliança do SENHOR ia adiante deles a uma jornada de três dias, para procurar um lugar de descanso para eles.

A nuvem do SENHOR estava sobre eles de dia, quando partiam do acampamento.

Quando a arca partia, Moisés dizia: “Levanta-te, SENHOR, e que os teus inimigos sejam dispersos! Que aqueles que te odeiam fujam de diante de ti!”

Quando ela pousava, ele dizia: “Volta, SENHOR, para as dezenas de milhares dos milhares de Israel.”

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
- 2
“Make two trumpets of silver. You shall make them of beaten work. You shall use them for the calling of the congregation and for the journeying of the camps.
- 3
When they blow them, all the congregation shall gather themselves to you at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
- 4
If they blow just one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves to you.
- 5
When you blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall go forward.
- 6
When you blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall go forward. They shall blow an alarm for their journeys.
- 7
But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm.
- 8
“The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. This shall be to you for a statute forever throughout your generations.
- 9
When you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets. Then you will be remembered before the LORD your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.
- 10
“Also in the day of your gladness, and in your set feasts, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God. I am the LORD your God.”

In the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle of the covenant.

The children of Israel went forward on their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud stayed in the wilderness of Paran.

They first went forward according to the commandment of the LORD by Moses.
- 14
First, the standard of the camp of the children of Judah went forward according to their armies. Nahshon the son of Amminadab was over his army.
- 15
Nethanel the son of Zuar was over the army of the tribe of the children of Issachar.
- 16
Eliab the son of Helon was over the army of the tribe of the children of Zebulun.
- 17
The tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who bore the tabernacle, went forward.
- 18
The standard of the camp of Reuben went forward according to their armies. Elizur the son of Shedeur was over his army.
- 19
Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai was over the army of the tribe of the children of Simeon.
- 20
Eliasaph the son of Deuel was over the army of the tribe of the children of Gad.
- 21
The Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary. The others set up the tabernacle before they arrived.
- 22
The standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies. Elishama the son of Ammihud was over his army.
- 23
Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur was over the army of the tribe of the children of Manasseh.
- 24
Abidan the son of Gideoni was over the army of the tribe of the children of Benjamin.
- 25
The standard of the camp of the children of Dan, which was the rear guard of all the camps, set forward according to their armies. Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai was over his army.

Pagiel the son of Ochran was over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher.
- 27
Ahira the son of Enan was over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali.
- 28
Thus were the travels of the children of Israel according to their armies; and they went forward.

Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are journeying to the place of which the LORD said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well; for the LORD has spoken good concerning Israel.”

He said to him, “I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my relatives.”
- 31
Moses said, “Don’t leave us, please; because you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.
- 32
It shall be, if you go with us—yes, it shall be—that whatever good the LORD does to us, we will do the same to you.”
- 33
They set forward from the Mount of the LORD three days’ journey. The ark of the LORD’s covenant went before them three days’ journey, to seek out a resting place for them.
- 34
The cloud of the LORD was over them by day, when they set forward from the camp.
- 35
When the ark went forward, Moses said, “Rise up, LORD, and let your enemies be scattered! Let those who hate you flee before you!”
- 36
When it rested, he said, “Return, LORD, to the ten thousands of the thousands of Israel.”
