Salmos 37
Uma longa meditação sobre um problema persistente: porque prosperam os ímpios enquanto os retos lutam? A resposta vem como conselho repetido, "Não te indignes" (vv.1, 7, 8), com a promessa de que os maus serão ceifados como a erva (v.2) e em breve desaparecerão. A recompensa recorrente é herdar a terra (vv.9, 11, 22, 29, 34), dada vezes sem conta aos humildes e pacientes. O v.25 acrescenta o peso da idade: fui moço e agora sou velho.

Não se irrite por causa dos malfeitores, nem tenha inveja dos que praticam a injustiça.

Pois eles em breve serão cortados como a relva, e murcharão como a erva verde.

Confie no SENHOR e faça o bem; habite na terra e desfrute de pastagem segura.
- 4
Deleite-se também no SENHOR, e ele concederá a você os desejos do seu coração.

Entregue o seu caminho ao SENHOR; confie também nele, e ele o fará:

ele fará a sua justiça brilhar como a luz, e o seu direito como o sol do meio-dia.

Descanse no SENHOR e espere pacientemente por ele; não se irrite por causa daquele que prospera em seu caminho, por causa do homem que realiza planos perversos.

Deixe a ira e abandone o furor; não se irrite; isso só leva à prática do mal.
- 9
Pois os malfeitores serão eliminados, mas aqueles que esperam no SENHOR herdarão a terra.
- 10
Pois mais um pouco de tempo, e o ímpio já não existirá; sim, você procurará o seu lugar, e ele não estará lá.
- 11
Mas os humildes herdarão a terra, e se deleitarão na abundância de paz.
- 12
O ímpio conspira contra o justo, e range os dentes contra ele.
- 13
O Senhor rirá dele, pois vê que o seu dia está chegando.
- 14
Os ímpios sacaram a espada e armaram o seu arco, para derrubar o pobre e o necessitado, para matar os que são retos no caminho.
- 15
A espada deles entrará em seu próprio coração, e os seus arcos serão quebrados.
- 16
Melhor é o pouco que o justo tem, do que a abundância de muitos ímpios.
- 17
Pois os braços dos ímpios serão quebrados, mas o SENHOR sustenta os justos.
- 18
O SENHOR conhece os dias dos íntegros; a herança deles será para sempre.
- 19
Eles não serão decepcionados no tempo do mal; nos dias de fome eles serão saciados.
- 20
Mas os ímpios perecerão. Os inimigos do SENHOR serão como a beleza dos campos; eles desaparecerão — desaparecerão como fumaça.

O ímpio toma emprestado e não devolve, mas o justo dá com generosidade.
- 22
Pois aqueles que são abençoados por ele herdarão a terra, mas aqueles que são amaldiçoados por ele serão eliminados.

Os passos do homem são firmados pelo SENHOR; ele se agrada do seu caminho.
- 24
Ainda que tropece, não cairá, pois o SENHOR o sustenta com a sua mão.

Fui jovem e agora sou velho, contudo, nunca vi o justo desamparado, nem os seus filhos mendigando o pão.
- 26
O dia todo ele é generoso e empresta; a sua descendência é abençoada.
- 27
Afaste-se do mal e faça o bem; viva em segurança para sempre.
- 28
Pois o SENHOR ama a justiça, e não desampara os seus santos. Eles são preservados para sempre, mas os filhos dos ímpios serão eliminados.

Os justos herdarão a terra, e habitarão nela para sempre.
- 30
A boca do justo fala de sabedoria; a sua língua fala de justiça.
- 31
A lei do seu Deus está em seu coração; nenhum dos seus passos escorregará.
- 32
O ímpio observa o justo, e procura matá-lo.
- 33
O SENHOR não o deixará em suas mãos, nem o condenará quando for julgado.
- 34
Espere no SENHOR e guarde o seu caminho, e ele o exaltará para herdar a terra. Quando os ímpios forem eliminados, você o verá.

Vi o ímpio com grande poder, espalhando-se como uma árvore verde em seu solo nativo.
- 36
Mas ele passou, e eis que já não existia; sim, eu o procurei, mas ele não pôde ser encontrado.
- 37
Observe o homem íntegro e veja o reto, pois há um futuro para o homem de paz.
- 38
Quanto aos transgressores, eles serão destruídos juntos; o futuro dos ímpios será eliminado.
- 39
Mas a salvação dos justos vem do SENHOR; ele é a sua fortaleza no tempo da angústia.
- 40
O SENHOR os ajuda e os resgata; ele os resgata dos ímpios e os salva, porque nele se refugiaram.

Don’t fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness.
- 2
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.
- 3
Trust in the LORD, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.
- 4
Also delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
- 5
Commit your way to the LORD. Trust also in him, and he will do this:

he will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noon day sun.
- 7
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.
- 8
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret; it leads only to evildoing.
- 9
For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.
- 10
For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there.
- 11
But the humble shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
- 12
The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth.
- 13
The Lord will laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.
- 14
The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill those who are upright on the path.
- 15
Their sword shall enter into their own heart. Their bows shall be broken.
- 16
Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked.
- 17
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
- 18
The LORD knows the days of the perfect. Their inheritance shall be forever.
- 19
They shall not be disappointed in the time of evil. In the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
- 20
But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of the LORD shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.
- 21
The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously.
- 22
For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land. Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.
- 23
A man’s steps are established by the LORD. He delights in his way.
- 24
Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for the LORD holds him up with his hand.
- 25
I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.
- 26
All day long he deals graciously, and lends. His offspring is blessed.
- 27
Depart from evil, and do good. Live securely forever.
- 28
For the LORD loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
- 29
The righteous shall inherit the land, and live in it forever.
- 30
The mouth of the righteous talks of wisdom. His tongue speaks justice.
- 31
The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps shall slide.
- 32
The wicked watch the righteous, and seek to kill him.
- 33
The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
- 34
Wait for the LORD, and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
- 35
I have seen the wicked in great power, spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.
- 36
But he passed away, and behold, he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.
- 37
Mark the perfect man, and see the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace.
- 38
As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together. The future of the wicked shall be cut off.
- 39
But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
- 40
The LORD helps them and rescues them. He rescues them from the wicked and saves them, because they have taken refuge in him.
