I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men,

for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.
3
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4
who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth.
5
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
6
who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time,
7
to which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am telling the truth in Christ, not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8
I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.
9
In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety, not with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing,
10
but with good works, which is appropriate for women professing godliness.
11
Let a woman learn in quietness with full submission.
12
But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.
13
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14
Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;
15
but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness with sobriety.

Exorto, portanto, antes de tudo, que se façam súplicas, orações, intercessões e ações de graças por todos os homens,

pelos reis e por todos os que estão em posições elevadas, para que possamos levar uma vida tranquila e pacífica, em toda piedade e reverência.

Pois isto é bom e aceitável aos olhos de Deus, nosso Salvador,
4
que deseja que todas as pessoas sejam salvas e cheguem ao pleno conhecimento da verdade.
5
Pois há um só Deus e um só mediador entre Deus e os homens, o homem Cristo Jesus,
6
que se entregou como resgate por todos, o testemunho no tempo apropriado,
7
para o qual fui designado pregador e apóstolo — digo a verdade em Cristo, não minto — mestre dos gentios na fé e na verdade.

Desejo, portanto, que os homens orem em todo lugar, levantando mãos santas, sem ira e sem dúvida.
9
Da mesma forma, que as mulheres também se adornem com roupas decentes, com modéstia e discrição, não com cabelos trançados, ouro, pérolas ou roupas caras,
10
mas com boas obras, o que é apropriado para mulheres que professam a piedade.
11
Que a mulher aprenda em quietude, com total submissão.
12
Mas não permito que a mulher ensine, nem que exerça autoridade sobre o homem, mas que esteja em quietude.
13
Pois Adão foi formado primeiro, depois Eva.
14
Adão não foi enganado, mas a mulher, sendo enganada, caiu em desobediência;
15
mas ela será salva dando à luz filhos, se continuarem na fé, no amor e na santidade, com sobriedade.
