Proverbs 22
The short couplets keep coming through verse 16 — a good name worth more than riches, the rich and poor sharing one Maker, the borrower as the lender's servant — and then the book turns a corner. At verse 17 a new voice says "Turn your ear," opening a stretch of direct address. Watch for verse 20's claim that thirty "excellent things" have been written down. The advice that follows is practical and pointed: don't crush the poor in court, don't befriend the hot-tempered, don't move the boundary stone your ancestors set.

A good name is more desirable than great riches, and loving favor is better than silver and gold.

The rich and the poor have this in common: The LORD is the maker of them all.

A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.

Don’t you be one of those who strike hands, of those who are collateral for debts.

If you don’t have means to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?

Don’t move the ancient boundary stone which your fathers have set up.

Where the collection changes hands
Verses 1 to 16 are still the two-line sayings of the earlier chapters. But verse 17 begins "the words of the wise," a separately framed teaching that runs into chapter 24, addressed to a single learner whose "trust may be in the LORD" (v.19).
The thirty sayings echo an older Egyptian instruction text, and you can feel the shift: less aphorism, more counsel given face to face — closing with the skilled worker who "will serve kings" rather than obscure men.
