Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
2
to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.
3
For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4
But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared,
5
not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
6
whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior;
7
that being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8
This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you insist confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men;
9
but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
10
Avoid a factious man after a first and second warning,
11
knowing that such a one is perverted and sinful, being self-condemned.
12
When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me to Nicopolis, for I have determined to winter there.
13
Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey speedily, that nothing may be lacking for them.
14
Let our people also learn to maintain good works to meet necessary needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
15
All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

Lembre-os de estarem sujeitos aos governantes e às autoridades, de serem obedientes e de estarem prontos para toda boa obra,
2
de não falarem mal de ninguém, de não serem contenciosos, mas gentis, demonstrando toda humildade para com todos os homens.

Pois nós também, no passado, éramos insensatos, desobedientes, enganados, servindo a várias concupiscências e prazeres, vivendo em malícia e inveja, sendo odiosos e odiando-nos uns aos outros.
4
Mas quando a bondade de Deus, nosso Salvador, e o seu amor para com a humanidade se manifestaram,
5
não por obras de justiça que nós mesmos tivéssemos feito, mas segundo a sua misericórdia, ele nos salvou mediante o lavar da regeneração e da renovação pelo Espírito Santo,
6
o qual ele derramou sobre nós ricamente, por meio de Jesus Cristo, nosso Salvador;
7
para que, sendo justificados pela sua graça, nos tornássemos herdeiros segundo a esperança da vida eterna.
8
Fiel é esta palavra, e a respeito destas coisas desejo que você insista com confiança, para que os que têm crido em Deus tenham o cuidado de se dedicar às boas obras. Estas coisas são boas e proveitosas aos homens;
9
mas evite questões tolas, genealogias, contendas e disputas a respeito da lei; pois são inúteis e vãs.
10
Evite o homem faccioso, depois de uma primeira e segunda advertência,
11
sabendo que tal pessoa é pervertida e vive pecando, estando condenada por si mesma.
12
Quando eu enviar Ártemas a você, ou Tíquico, esforce-se para vir ao meu encontro em Nicópolis, pois decidi passar o inverno ali.
13
Encaminhe Zenas, o advogado, e Apolo em sua viagem com presteza, para que nada lhes falte.
14
Que os nossos também aprendam a se dedicar às boas obras, para suprir as necessidades urgentes, a fim de que não sejam infrutíferos.
15
Todos os que estão comigo saúdam você. Saúde aqueles que nos amam na fé. A graça seja com todos vocês. Amém.
