Ele me mostrou Josué, o sumo sacerdote, em pé diante do anjo do SENHOR, e Satanás em pé à sua direita para ser seu adversário.

O SENHOR disse a Satanás: “O SENHOR o repreenda, Satanás! Sim, o SENHOR que escolheu Jerusalém o repreenda! Não é este um tição tirado do fogo?”

Ora, Josué estava vestido com vestes imundas, e estava em pé diante do anjo.

Ele respondeu e falou aos que estavam em pé diante dele, dizendo: “Tirem as vestes imundas dele.” E a ele disse: “Eis que fiz a sua iniquidade passar de você, e o vestirei com vestes finas.”

Eu disse: “Coloquem um turbante limpo em sua cabeça.” Então colocaram um turbante limpo em sua cabeça e o vestiram; e o anjo do SENHOR estava ali ao lado.

O anjo do SENHOR assegurou solenemente a Josué, dizendo:

“O SENHOR dos Exércitos diz: ‘Se você andar nos meus caminhos, e se seguir as minhas instruções, então você também julgará a minha casa, e também guardará os meus átrios, e eu lhe darei um lugar de acesso entre estes que estão aqui.
- 8
Ouça agora, Josué, o sumo sacerdote, você e os seus companheiros que se assentam diante de você, pois são homens que servem de sinal; pois, eis que trarei o meu servo, o Renovo.

Pois, eis a pedra que coloquei diante de Josué: sobre uma pedra estão sete olhos; eis que gravarei a sua inscrição’, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, ‘e removerei a iniquidade daquela terra em um só dia.

Naquele dia’, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, ‘cada um de vocês convidará o seu próximo para debaixo da videira e para debaixo da figueira.’”

He showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the LORD’s angel, and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary.

The LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! Yes, the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Isn’t this a burning stick plucked out of the fire?”

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel.

He answered and spoke to those who stood before him, saying, “Take the filthy garments off him.” To him he said, “Behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with rich clothing.”

I said, “Let them set a clean turban on his head.” So they set a clean turban on his head, and clothed him; and the LORD’s angel was standing by.

The LORD’s angel solemnly assured Joshua, saying,
- 7
“The LORD of Armies says: ‘If you will walk in my ways, and if you will follow my instructions, then you also shall judge my house, and shall also keep my courts, and I will give you a place of access among these who stand by.

Hear now, Joshua the high priest, you and your fellows who sit before you, for they are men who are a sign; for, behold, I will bring out my servant, the Branch.
- 9
For, behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua: on one stone are seven eyes; behold, I will engrave its inscription,’ says the LORD of Armies, ‘and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
- 10
In that day,’ says the LORD of Armies, ‘you will invite every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree.’”
