Quem acredita que Jesus é o Cristo nasceu de Deus. Quem ama o Pai, ama também o filho que nasce dele.

Por isso sabemos que amamos os filhos de Deus, quando amamos a Deus e guardamos seus mandamentos.

Pois isto é amar a Deus, quando amamos a Deus e guardamos seus mandamentos. Seus mandamentos não são dolorosos.

Pois tudo o que nasce de Deus supera o mundo. Esta é a vitória que venceu o mundo: sua fé.

Quem é aquele que vence o mundo, mas aquele que crê que Jesus é o Filho de Deus?

Este é aquele que veio pela água e pelo sangue, Jesus Cristo; não somente com a água, mas com a água e o sangue. É o Espírito que testifica, porque o Espírito é a verdade.

Pois são três os que testemunham:

o Espírito, a água e o sangue; e os três concordam como um só.

Se recebemos o testemunho dos homens, o testemunho de Deus é maior; pois este é o testemunho de Deus que ele testemunhou a respeito de seu Filho.

Aquele que acredita no Filho de Deus tem o testemunho em si mesmo. Aquele que não acredita que Deus fez dele um mentiroso, porque não acreditou no testemunho que Deus deu sobre seu Filho.

O testemunho é o seguinte: que Deus nos deu a vida eterna, e esta vida está em seu Filho.

Aquele que tem o Filho, tem a vida. Aquele que não tem o Filho de Deus, não tem a vida.

Estas coisas escrevi a vocês que acreditam no nome do Filho de Deus, para que saibam que têm a vida eterna, e para que continuem a acreditar no nome do Filho de Deus.

Esta é a ousadia que temos para com ele, que se pedirmos algo de acordo com sua vontade, ele nos escuta.

E se sabemos que ele nos escuta, o que quer que peçamos, sabemos que temos as petições que lhe pedimos.

Se alguém vir seu irmão pecar um pecado que não leva à morte, ele pedirá, e Deus lhe dará a vida por aqueles que não pecam e não levam à morte. Existe um pecado que leva à morte. Eu não digo que ele deva fazer um pedido a esse respeito.

Toda injustiça é pecado, e há pecado que não leva à morte.

Sabemos que quem nasce de Deus não peca, mas aquele que nasceu de Deus se mantém, e o maligno não o toca.

Sabemos que somos de Deus, e o mundo inteiro está no poder do maligno.
- 20
Sabemos que o Filho de Deus veio e nos deu um entendimento, que conhecemos aquele que é verdadeiro; e estamos naquele que é verdadeiro, em seu Filho Jesus Cristo. Este é o verdadeiro Deus e a vida eterna.

Crianças pequenas, mantenham-se longe dos ídolos.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.

For this is loving God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
- 5
Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

For there are three who testify:

the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.

He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.

The testimony is this: that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
- 12
He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
- 15
And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
- 16
If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I don’t say that he should make a request concerning this.
- 17
All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.
- 18
We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him.
- 19
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
- 20
We know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
- 21
Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
