The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (this was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon),

which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem:
- 3
From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, these twenty-three years, the LORD’s word has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking; but you have not listened.

The LORD has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them (but you have not listened or inclined your ear to hear),
- 5
saying, “Return now everyone from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given to you and to your fathers, from of old and even forever more.
- 6
Don’t go after other gods to serve them or worship them, and don’t provoke me to anger with the work of your hands; then I will do you no harm.”

“Yet you have not listened to me,” says the LORD, “that you may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt.”

Therefore the LORD of Armies says: “Because you have not heard my words,
- 9
behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,” says the LORD, “and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around. I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

This whole land will be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

“It will happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,” says the LORD, “for their iniquity. I will make the land of the Chaldeans desolate forever.
- 13
I will bring on that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.
- 14
For many nations and great kings will make bondservants of them, even of them. I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.”

For the LORD, the God of Israel, says to me: “Take this cup of the wine of wrath from my hand, and cause all the nations to whom I send you to drink it.
- 16
They will drink, and reel back and forth, and be insane, because of the sword that I will send among them.”
- 17
Then I took the cup at the LORD’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom the LORD had sent me:

Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, with its kings and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is today;
- 19
Pharaoh king of Egypt, with his servants, his princes, and all his people;
- 20
and all the mixed people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the Philistines, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;
- 21
Edom, Moab, and the children of Ammon;
- 22
and all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea;
- 23
Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who have the corners of their beard cut off;
- 24
and all the kings of Arabia, all the kings of the mixed people who dwell in the wilderness;
- 25
and all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;
- 26
and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the surface of the earth. The king of Sheshach will drink after them.

“You shall tell them, ‘The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel says: “Drink, and be drunk, vomit, fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.”’

It shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at your hand to drink, then you shall tell them, ‘The LORD of Armies says: “You shall surely drink.
- 29
For, behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should you be utterly unpunished? You will not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says the LORD of Armies.”’

“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and tell them, “‘The LORD will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation. He will mightily roar against his fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

A noise will come even to the end of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with the nations. He will enter into judgment with all flesh. As for the wicked, he will give them to the sword,”’ says the LORD.”

The LORD of Armies says, “Behold, evil will go out from nation to nation, and a great storm will be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth.”

The slain of the LORD will be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They won’t be lamented. They won’t be gathered or buried. They will be dung on the surface of the ground.

Wail, you shepherds, and cry. Wallow in dust, you leader of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions have fully come, and you will fall like fine pottery.

The shepherds will have no way to flee. The leader of the flock will have no escape.
- 36
A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the leader of the flock, for the LORD destroys their pasture.

The peaceful folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of the LORD.
- 38
He has left his covert, as the lion; for their land has become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppression, and because of his fierce anger.

A palavra que veio a Jeremias acerca de todo o povo de Judá, no quarto ano de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá (este foi o primeiro ano de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia),

a qual o profeta Jeremias falou a todo o povo de Judá e a todos os habitantes de Jerusalém:

Desde o décimo terceiro ano de Josias, filho de Amom, rei de Judá, até o dia de hoje, durante estes vinte e três anos, a palavra do SENHOR tem vindo a mim, e eu tenho falado a vocês, levantando-me cedo e falando; mas vocês não têm escutado.

O SENHOR tem enviado a vocês todos os seus servos, os profetas, levantando-se cedo e enviando-os (mas vocês não escutaram nem inclinaram os seus ouvidos para ouvir),

dizendo: “Volte agora cada um do seu mau caminho e da maldade das suas ações, e habitem na terra que o SENHOR deu a vocês e aos seus pais, desde os tempos antigos e para todo o sempre.
- 6
Não andem atrás de outros deuses para servi-los ou adorá-los, e não me provoquem à ira com a obra das suas mãos; então não farei nenhum mal a vocês.”

“Contudo, vocês não me escutaram”, diz o SENHOR, “para me provocarem à ira com a obra das suas mãos, para o seu próprio mal.”
- 8
Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: “Porque vocês não ouviram as minhas palavras,
- 9
eis que enviarei e tomarei todas as famílias do norte”, diz o SENHOR, “e enviarei a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, meu servo, e os trarei contra esta terra, contra os seus habitantes e contra todas estas nações ao redor. Eu os destruirei totalmente e farei deles um objeto de espanto, de assobio e de desolações perpétuas.

Além disso, tirarei deles a voz de júbilo e a voz de alegria, a voz do noivo e a voz da noiva, o som das pedras de moinho e a luz da lamparina.

Toda esta terra será uma desolação e um espanto; e estas nações servirão ao rei da Babilônia por setenta anos.
- 12
“Acontecerá que, quando se cumprirem os setenta anos, eu castigarei o rei da Babilônia e aquela nação”, diz o SENHOR, “por causa da sua iniquidade. Farei da terra dos caldeus uma desolação para sempre.
- 13
Trarei sobre aquela terra todas as minhas palavras que pronunciei contra ela, tudo o que está escrito neste livro, que Jeremias profetizou contra todas as nações.

Pois muitas nações e grandes reis farão deles seus escravos, sim, deles mesmos. Eu os retribuirei de acordo com as suas ações e de acordo com a obra das suas mãos.”

Pois assim me diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel: “Tome da minha mão este cálice do vinho da ira, e faça com que todas as nações a quem eu o enviar o bebam.
- 16
Eles beberão, cambalearão de um lado para o outro e enlouquecerão, por causa da espada que enviarei entre eles.”
- 17
Então tomei o cálice da mão do SENHOR e fiz com que todas as nações bebessem, a quem o SENHOR me havia enviado:
- 18
Jerusalém e as cidades de Judá, com os seus reis e os seus príncipes, para fazer deles uma desolação, um espanto, um assobio e uma maldição, como se vê no dia de hoje;
- 19
o Faraó, rei do Egito, com os seus servos, os seus príncipes e todo o seu povo;
- 20
e toda a mistura de povos, e todos os reis da terra de Uz, todos os reis dos filisteus, Ascalom, Gaza, Ecrom e o remanescente de Asdode;
- 21
Edom, Moabe e os filhos de Amom;
- 22
e todos os reis de Tiro, todos os reis de Sidom e os reis das ilhas que estão além do mar;
- 23
Dedã, Tema, Buz e todos os que cortam os cantos da barba;
- 24
e todos os reis da Arábia, todos os reis da mistura de povos que habitam no deserto;
- 25
e todos os reis de Zinri, todos os reis de Elão e todos os reis dos medos;
- 26
e todos os reis do norte, próximos e distantes, uns com os outros; e todos os reinos do mundo, que estão sobre a face da terra. E o rei de Sesaque beberá depois deles.

“Você dirá a eles: 'Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: “Bebam, embriaguem-se, vomitem, caiam e não se levantem mais, por causa da espada que enviarei entre vocês.”’
- 28
E acontecerá que, se eles se recusarem a tomar o cálice da sua mão para beber, então você dirá a eles: 'Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: “Vocês certamente beberão.
- 29
Pois, eis que começo a trazer o mal sobre a cidade que é chamada pelo meu nome; e vocês ficariam totalmente impunes? Vocês não ficarão impunes; pois chamarei a espada sobre todos os habitantes da terra, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.”’

“Portanto, profetize contra eles todas estas palavras e diga-lhes: “'O SENHOR rugirá lá do alto, e fará soar a sua voz desde a sua santa habitação. Ele rugirá fortemente contra a sua pastagem. Ele dará um grito, como os que pisam as uvas, contra todos os habitantes da terra.

Um estrondo chegará até os confins da terra; pois o SENHOR tem uma contenda com as nações. Ele entrará em juízo com toda a carne. Quanto aos ímpios, ele os entregará à espada”', diz o SENHOR.”

Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: “Eis que o mal sairá de nação em nação, e uma grande tempestade se levantará desde os confins da terra.”

Os mortos pelo SENHOR naquele dia estarão estendidos de uma extremidade da terra até a outra extremidade da terra. Eles não serão pranteados. Eles não serão recolhidos nem sepultados. Eles servirão de esterco sobre a face da terra.

Lamentem, pastores, e clamem. Revolvam-se no pó, líderes do rebanho; pois os dias da sua matança e das suas dispersões chegaram plenamente, e vocês cairão como um vaso precioso.

Os pastores não terão para onde fugir. Os líderes do rebanho não terão escapatória.
- 36
Ouve-se a voz do clamor dos pastores, e o lamento dos líderes do rebanho, pois o SENHOR destrói a sua pastagem.
- 37
Os pastos pacíficos são reduzidos ao silêncio por causa do furor da ira do SENHOR.
- 38
Ele deixou o seu esconderijo, como o leão; pois a terra deles se tornou um espanto por causa do furor da opressão, e por causa do furor da sua ira.
