Ai dos que descem ao Egito em busca de ajuda, e confiam em cavalos, e confiam nos carros porque são muitos, e nos cavaleiros porque são muito fortes, mas não olham para o Santo de Israel, e não buscam ao SENHOR!

Contudo, ele também é sábio, e trará o desastre, e não retirará as suas palavras, mas se levantará contra a casa dos malfeitores, e contra a ajuda dos que praticam a iniquidade.

Ora, os egípcios são homens, e não Deus; e seus cavalos são carne, e não espírito. Quando o SENHOR estender a sua mão, tanto o que ajuda tropeçará, quanto o que é ajudado cairá, e todos eles serão consumidos juntos.

Pois o SENHOR me diz: “Como o leão e o leão jovem rugindo sobre a sua presa, se uma multidão de pastores for convocada contra ele, não se intimidará com a voz deles, nem se abaterá pelo seu barulho, assim o SENHOR dos Exércitos descerá para lutar sobre o monte Sião e sobre as suas alturas.

Como aves que pairam, assim o SENHOR dos Exércitos protegerá Jerusalém. Ele a protegerá e a livrará. Ele passará por cima e a preservará.”

Voltem para aquele contra quem vocês se rebelaram profundamente, filhos de Israel.

Pois naquele dia cada um jogará fora os seus ídolos de prata e os seus ídolos de ouro — pecado que as suas próprias mãos fizeram para vocês.

“O assírio cairá pela espada, não de homem; e a espada, não de seres humanos, o devorará. Ele fugirá da espada, e os seus jovens serão sujeitos a trabalhos forçados.

A sua rocha desaparecerá por causa do terror, e os seus príncipes terão medo do estandarte,” diz o SENHOR, cujo fogo está em Sião, e a sua fornalha em Jerusalém.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don’t look to the Holy One of Israel, and they don’t seek the LORD!

Yet he also is wise, and will bring disaster, and will not call back his words, but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of those who work iniquity.

Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD stretches out his hand, both he who helps shall stumble, and he who is helped shall fall, and they all shall be consumed together.

For the LORD says to me, “As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds is called together against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for their noise, so the LORD of Armies will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its heights.

As birds hovering, so the LORD of Armies will protect Jerusalem. He will protect and deliver it. He will pass over and preserve it.”

Return to him from whom you have deeply revolted, children of Israel.

For in that day everyone shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold—sin which your own hands have made for you.

“The Assyrian will fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of mankind, shall devour him. He will flee from the sword, and his young men will become subject to forced labor.
- 9
His rock will pass away by reason of terror, and his princes will be afraid of the banner,” says the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
