Então Jó respondeu:

“Sem dúvida, vocês são o povo, e a sabedoria morrerá com vocês.
- 3
Mas eu tenho entendimento assim como vocês; não sou inferior a vocês. Sim, quem não sabe de coisas como essas?
- 4
Sou como alguém que é motivo de riso para o seu próximo, eu, que clamei a Deus, e ele respondeu. O homem justo e irrepreensível é motivo de riso.
- 5
No pensamento daquele que vive tranquilo há desprezo pela desgraça. Ele está pronto para aqueles cujo pé escorrega.
- 6
As tendas dos ladrões prosperam. Aqueles que provocam a Deus estão seguros, aqueles que carregam o seu deus em suas mãos.

“Mas perguntem agora aos animais, e eles os ensinarão; às aves do céu, e elas lhes contarão.
- 8
Ou falem com a terra, e ela os ensinará. Os peixes do mar lhes declararão.
- 9
Quem não sabe que, em tudo isso, a mão do SENHOR fez isso,
- 10
em cuja mão está a vida de todo ser vivente, e o fôlego de toda a humanidade?
- 11
O ouvido não prova as palavras, assim como o paladar prova a sua comida?
- 12
Com os idosos está a sabedoria, e na longura de dias, o entendimento.
- 13
“Com Deus está a sabedoria e o poder. Ele tem conselho e entendimento.
- 14
Eis que ele derruba, e não se pode reconstruir. Ele aprisiona um homem, e não pode haver libertação.
- 15
Eis que ele retém as águas, e elas secam. Novamente, ele as solta, e elas transtornam a terra.
- 16
Com ele está a força e a sabedoria. O enganado e o enganador são dele.
- 17
Ele leva os conselheiros despojados. Ele faz dos juízes tolos.
- 18
Ele desfaz os laços dos reis, e amarra um cinto em suas cinturas.
- 19
Ele leva os sacerdotes despojados, e derruba os poderosos.
- 20
Ele tira a fala dos que são confiáveis, e tira o entendimento dos anciãos.
- 21
Ele derrama desprezo sobre os príncipes, e afrouxa o cinto dos fortes.
- 22
Ele descobre as coisas profundas das trevas, e traz à luz a sombra da morte.
- 23
Ele multiplica as nações, e as destrói. Ele expande as nações, e as leva cativas.
- 24
Ele tira o entendimento dos líderes do povo da terra, e os faz vagar em um deserto onde não há caminho.
- 25
Eles tateiam nas trevas sem luz. Ele os faz cambalear como um homem bêbado.

Then Job answered,
- 2
“No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.
- 3
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Yes, who doesn’t know such things as these?
- 4
I am like one who is a joke to his neighbor, I, who called on God, and he answered. The just, the blameless man is a joke.

In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune. It is ready for them whose foot slips.
- 6
The tents of robbers prosper. Those who provoke God are secure, who carry their god in their hands.
- 7
“But ask the animals now, and they will teach you; the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.
- 8
Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you. The fish of the sea will declare to you.
- 9
Who doesn’t know that in all these, the LORD’s hand has done this,
- 10
in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?
- 11
Doesn’t the ear try words, even as the palate tastes its food?
- 12
With aged men is wisdom, in length of days understanding.
- 13
“With God is wisdom and might. He has counsel and understanding.
- 14
Behold, he breaks down, and it can’t be built again. He imprisons a man, and there can be no release.
- 15
Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.
- 16
With him is strength and wisdom. The deceived and the deceiver are his.
- 17
He leads counselors away stripped. He makes judges fools.
- 18
He loosens the bond of kings. He binds their waist with a belt.
- 19
He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty.
- 20
He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders.
- 21
He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong.
- 22
He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.
- 23
He increases the nations, and he destroys them. He enlarges the nations, and he leads them captive.
- 24
He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
- 25
They grope in the dark without light. He makes them stagger like a drunken man.
